Are You Team "Mapped Out" or "Team Go With the Flow?"

Before setting off on your road trip, do you plan every charging stop in advance, or do you figure them out as you go?

We like to call it Team "Mapped Out" vs Team "Go With the Flow," but there are no wrong answers here.

Whether you're type A or type B when it comes to travel, you can rest assured that IONNA Rechargeries have your back with charging at just $0.39/kWh or lower.

What pit stop on your route desperately needs more than a vending machine and a questionable restroom?

Every time we announce a new Rechargery, the comments fill up with folks asking when we're headed their way. So let's turn it around and ask you: if you've got a spot in mind, where is it?

Could be the empty lot by the exit. The corner of the shopping center nobody's using. The place you drive past and think "somebody ought to do something with that."

Every suggestion goes to our Site Acquisition team — actual humans who actually read them, usually with coffee in hand.

Tell us where ➡️ https://www.ionna.com/blog/suggest-a-rechargery/

A few days ago we opened up an AMA while driving 8 EVs from Durham to Florida, and you all delivered.

Our CEO, Seth Cutler, answered some of the most asked questions, which include:

  • How can I find my nearest IONNA in the Tesla navigation?
  • Once a Rechargery is live, who monitors the status of the station?
  • How can I submit future Rechargery locations?
  • Are more OEM charging discounts coming?

Independence Day Weekend Charging Deal: $0.20/kWh July 2–5

Saw a few posts lately about road trip planning costs, so figured this was worth sharing — IONNA has $0.20/kWh (+ tax) pricing across their whole network this weekend (July 2–5). No promo code or anything, just the flat rate.

We've been doing customer feedback clinics in Florida and the same thing keeps coming up: people just want charging that's reliable and for the right price.

Anyway — curious what the community thinks:

  • Anyone road-tripping this weekend? Where to?
  • What's a charging stop that's actually been a pleasant experience?
  • What's the one thing you'd change about public charging networks?

When you're planning a long-distance EV trip, what's your biggest hesitation before you leave?

Is it not knowing what you'll find when you pull up to a charger, or is it the planning itself — figuring out which stops actually work with your route and your car?

(Transparency: I work for IONNA. Posting because we want real feedback)

Volvo EX90 now Plug & Charge capable at IONNA.

Just plug in and walk away — no app, no card, no tap-to-pay. Your car and the charger handle authentication automatically.

EX60 will be getting it later this year too, per Volvo.

If you've got an EX90, check the Volvo Cars app to find your nearest Rechargery.

Curious if anyone's tried it yet.

We just drove 8 EVs from North Carolina to Florida, charging exclusively at our own network the whole way — here's how it went

Last week our team loaded up 8 EVs — one from each of our OEM partners — and drove from Durham, NC down to Seffner, FL near Tampa, charging only at IONNA Rechargeries the entire route.

The goal was simple: prove that long-distance road trips are possible on the IONNA network!

We held customer feedback clinics in Jacksonville, Seffner, Casselberry, and Pembroke Park over the weekend. Talking directly to Florida EV drivers was genuinely one of the best parts of the trip — people were candid, which we needed.

Curious what the Florida EV community here thinks — what's still missing from public charging infrastructure in your area? We'd rather hear the hard stuff than the easy feedback.

Title: We're hitting the road: Eight EVs, Durham to Seffner, charging exclusively on the IONNA network ⚡

Hey everyone! Team IONNA here.

We've left our headquarters in Durham, NC, making our way to Seffner, FL, where we'll be opening our newest Rechargery.

We'll be driving eight EVs—one from each of the automakers behind IONNA (BMW, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Mercedes-Benz, Stellantis, and Toyota)—and charging exclusively on the IONNA network the entire way.

We'll be sharing updates, photos, charging stops, and a few behind-the-scenes moments as we make our way south.

If you have questions about what we're doing, the network, or EV road-tripping in general, drop them below and we'll do our best to answer along the way.

And if you've driven between Durham and Seffner, we'd love your recommendations:

Must-see roadside stops?
Great local restaurants?
Hidden gems?
Scenic detours worth taking?

We're looking forward to seeing what the trip has in store, and maybe discovering a few places we wouldn't have found otherwise. ⚡

Ask Us Anything: We're driving eight EVs from North Carolina to Florida this week entirely on the IONNA charging network

Hey everyone. I'm Darcy from team IONNA. This week a group of us are road-tripping eight EVs — one from each automaker behind the network (BMW, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Mercedes-Benz, Stellantis, and Toyota) — from our Durham HQ down to Florida, charging exclusively on our own Rechargeries the whole way. We figured it was a good excuse to open the floor.

We'll be answering from the road, the charging stops, and whatever roadside detours we find along the way, so drop questions whenever and I'll get to them as we go.

A few things people usually ask to get things started:

  1. How do you pronounce IONNA? Fair question — it's "Eye-AH-nah".

  2. Who can actually charge there? Everybody, regardless of what you drive.

  3. Do you need a specific connector? We have both NACS and CCS at every site, and you can use an adapter if you need one.

We're also genuinely curious about your questions regarding the network, charging, the road trip, EV life in general. Ask away.

We'll answer everything we can here in real time. For any frequently asked questions, you can always visit ionna.com.

The IONNA team is driving 8 EVs from Durham to Tampa this month. Which of these stops are actually worth it?

Hey everyone, it's the IONNA team. This month, we're taking eight EVs on a road trip from our Durham, NC headquarters all the way down to our Rechargery near Tampa, charging at IONNA Rechargeries and taking the scenic route on purpose, because the whole point is that the trip matters as much as the destination.

We've got way more stops on the shortlist than we have days for:

South of the Border (Dillon, SC)

Savannah, GA

The giant gator + downtown Jacksonville

Castillo de San Marcos, St. Augustine

Daytona Speedway

Twistee Treat / Florida Citrus Tower near Orlando

Which of these actually earn the stop, and which are tourist traps we should just wave at from the highway? And what are we missing between St. Augustine and Tampa that a local would never skip?

Help us make this roadtrip unforgettable. 🍊

What's an EV road trip you'd take today that felt off-limits a few years ago?

A couple years back my family and I planned EV trips defensively, routing around where we knew we could reliably charge. Lately (and thankfully), it feels like I can just pick a destination and figure the charging out as I go, which used to be unthinkable.

So where would you point the car now that you wouldn't have before?

And the real question: has better coverage actually changed where you're willing to go, or were you always going to send it anyway?

Disclosure: I'm on the IONNA team, and this is what got me thinking about it. This June we're running our IONNA Road Trip Series called "Rechargin' the Citrus Belt", where we're driving eight EVs, one from each of the automakers behind the network, from North Carolina all the way down to Florida. We're taking the scenic route on purpose, charging at Rechargeries along the way and stopping for as much classic roadside Americana as we can fit in. If that sounds like your kind of trip, we'll be sharing the whole thing as we head south on all our socials. We'd genuinely love to see the routes this sub would pick too.

When charging your EV during a road trip, do you want charging to be fast and forgettable, or an actual stop to chill and relax?

👋🏼 Hey! Team IONNA here. We're curious to hear your take on this.

Some people we drive with want the charging stop to basically disappear, which means they pull in, plug in, stretch for a few minutes, and are gone asap. We have other friends who plan the whole break around it. That means they want food, a walk, somewhere decent to sit, maybe a nice outdoor coffee break.

I think we've drifted toward the "forgettable is good" camp, but we go back and forth on longer drives where a real break can refresh drivers and elevate your trip memories.

Where do you land? And what's the one thing at a stop that makes or breaks it for you?

We're road-tripping 8 EVs from NC to Florida this June. Looking for the best roadside stops along the I-95/I-4 route

Quick disclosure: IONNA team here. This June we're driving eight EVs (one from each automaker behind the network) from North Carolina down to Florida, and we're purposely taking the scenic route, juicin' up at Rechargeries along the way and stopping at as many classic roadside attractions as we can fit in.

We know we're hittin' the giant gator in Jacksonville, Daytona Beach's Coquina Clock Tower and the Florida Citrus Tower. But this sub has driven these routes way more than we have.

What's a stop between the Carolinas and Tampa that's genuinely worth pulling off the highway for? We land in Seffner, FL on June 26th and need the route dialed in by then.
