Call the guards

Call the guards

I do all the food shopping so for a few years I’ve seen the prices go up and not much surprises me but I was in Dunnes yesterday, I don’t shop there as it’s genuinely daylight robbery and I saw these! €6.20 for Jaffa cakes! They literally can’t be dipped in tea, you can eat them in one bloody bite and other than playing full moon half moon 🌙 total eclipse 🌑 they are a kids biscuit,

EDIT! I DONT BUY THESE I BUY THE LIDL VERSION!

No view but it’s weird!!!

I’m outside sitting on a lounger and it’s gone so quiet. Birds all in the trees. Just this calm eerie feeling. Also literally 1 hour ago not a cloud and now it looks like this! Era there’s always 2090 😂

I won’t lie I like feeling smug

So since Covid stopped me going on my cruise and I should be in northern Spain tomorrow for 100% of the full eclipse I ordered these weeks ago!
Is it wrong that I’m secretly watching people beg for them and I’m like nope!?
Not having any of mine. You should have ordered when you knew about it 2 years ago Doris!! I will share with the neighbours “sigh” !!!!!!
But I’m holding onto my win for a few more hours

New hobby unlocked

So I bought this see through bird feeder in Aldi about 5 weeks ago. Didn’t know where to put it as didn’t want to be frightening the birds away but settled for the kitchen sink. Nothing happens. I mean to the stage where I saw them marked down last Friday and thought “scam anyway they saw you coming”
was gonna take it down Sunday but it was heavily raining so left it. Ended up stuck home more with Covid this week and out of nowhere they arrived!
It feels like the “if you build it they will come “ moment! The joy I feel watching from afar seeing them needs to be studied but if you see one for €2.99 pick it up.

Riddled!

Can’t believe it! I was so sick for the whole of last year with no immune system and didn’t get a cold. Supposed to be going away this Friday and was soooooooo sick Saturday to the point where I couldn’t bend my fingers in pain and tested.
Please keep testing. I was visiting my mil every night in a nursing home up to hours beforehand and I’m just lucky she’s not sick and the others. It’s still around and it’s a nasty strain as well.
Holiday cancelled but I just want to get through this. Just hope I don’t get long Covid again. Also please test I can’t stress it enough.

Blooming lovely

So when I was finally tackling the backyard last year my dad did all the patio and I didn’t want any plants as I’m allergic to wasps and bees and I thought screw it all concrete. He went back to college at 56 and became a horticulturist and is a groundskeeper and bee keeper for blarney castle, so of course he didn’t listen and dropped off lots of cuttings. This one here is a Peruvian lily and it was battered last year when I got it. Now it’s one of my favourite plants and attracts so many bees 🐝 but I’m happy to stay inside and let them feed. Happy weekend.

Lost a friend ❤️

So my mil went into a nursing home 6 months ago and I call over every night for 2-3 hours. She smokes 2 cigarettes a day now down from 30 but I have to ask for the lighter every evening for her and only 1 other person used it as well but for a few weeks we never knew who.
When she 1st went in she was very unsure as it’s her physical health not her memory etc that’s affected so she would go out by the little side door and we would sit whilst she had a cigarette.
We are city people, I moved to a very rural area of north cork 23 years ago and she came down by us about 10 years ago so she found the people a lot different to her in the nursing home.
She was finding it hard and 1 night we went out as usual and saw the other smoking culprit! She had the most beautiful grey hair and was just sitting in her wheelchair puffing away! We said hello and a friendship was formed forever. She was the wittiest, sweetest sharpest woman and became my little bestie.
She would only go out from her room once a day at exactly 9.30 pm and have 3 cigarettes, 1 lit off the other. Lots of nights my mil couldn’t go out and as I would leave, there my grey haired friend would be,so I would go out and we would have such a laugh talking about nothing and everything.
I looked forward to seeing her and she had the dirtiest laugh, like a cackle that I loved hearing. She was a pure country woman with the roguishness of a city girl.
She took unwell a few weeks ago in front of me and I called the nurse and she was sent to hospital. She came back a shell of herself, on full oxygen, no longer able to even watch tv but I would go in and she would still have a smile for me and recognise me.
Last night I called and unfortunately she just took a very sudden turn and I said my goodbyes and met her family who said she used to talk about me in a fond way which made my life.
She just passed and I’m only 46 but I’m gonna miss that sweet old lady and my friend. Please keep her family in your thoughts and don’t ever think you are too young or too old for new friends. ❤️

Mist! Glorious mist

I was so overjoyed to feel a bit of rain on my face that I was afraid to wipe it off for fear of never see it again! Xena says woof! Happy Sunday!

Not a biteen of rain

Anybody else do the lions share of yard work today as it wasn’t satans ass hole heat! I got my fence and shed painted and the hubby got all the leaves and crap sucked up. Lovely breeze there as well tonight.

u/Irishgooner123 — 26 days ago

Just pure satisfaction

When I tell you I felt like I had won a gold medal at the olympics this morning I ain’t lying! Nothing more satisfying than a one peel satsuma! Hubby tried to say it was lucky but I didn’t listen to that hate!

Is the petrol gone back up everywhere?

I’m so confused. Now this garage always changes the prices , nearly daily to be honest, but it was 175.9 last night. My Picture is shite I don’t know why it didn’t come out properly, but it’s gone up 10c for both petrol and diesel. Am I missing something? I know the Iran war is going crazy again but this was a shock.

u/Irishgooner123 — 28 days ago

Nah! Nope! Not accepting this!

So here I am on day 4million of being a puddle and I had to get a new rug. This is only one shelf! They have a whole autumn section and Halloween section. Please let a leaf 🍁 fall off the tree 1st!

Nicest walk in weeks. Did 5 km and I was back in 45 mins and it was only 15°! Had to wear a HOODIE! Forgot I owned one.
