Help with horrible espresso [breville barista express]
Howdy people,
I am currently pulling horrible tasting espresso.
I know I do not have the most comprehensive set up, but I know it can pull a better shot but I dont know where I am going wrong.
Equipment:
- Breville barista express (internal burr adjusted)
- IMS Precision Double Filter Basket For Breville 54mm Group - 16-20gr
- WDT tool
- Scale with 0.1gr precission and timer
- Nomcore springloaded tamper
I am putting 19.5gr in my basket (if I put less I feel like there is too much space at the top, but maybe thats what is killing my shots) and with the current grind settings I am pulling 36g in 30seconds. I do 8 seconds preinfusion, but the presurre valve does not really move during that time. For the remainder of the 30 seconds the pressure valve reads within the “espresso range”. That being said, when I remove the basket golder there is always water at the top.
Id appreciate any help as my current shots are absolutely foul…
