Does anyone else’s dachshund cough like this? Going on for 2 years, worse at night and with excitement

Hi everyone, I’m hoping to hear from other dachshund owners who’ve experienced something similar.

Our dachshund has been having coughing episodes like the one in the video for about two years now. The cough comes and goes, seems to vary with the seasons, and can be worse at night. Excitement also seems to trigger it, especially when I get home, when someone comes over, or whenever our dog gets excited.

We’ve seen several vets, and the treatment so far has mainly been corticosteroids. Sometimes they help, but other times they don’t seem to make much difference. Allergy testing suggested an allergy to mites, but we still don’t have a clear understanding of whether that explains the coughing.

It’s really upsetting to hear, especially after dealing with it for so long and still not having it consistently under control.

Has your dachshund had similar coughing fits? If so, what did the cause turn out to be? Were there any particular tests, specialist appointments, or long-term treatment plans that helped?

I’d really appreciate hearing your experiences so I can discuss the next steps with our vet. Thank you!

What would you do in my position if your goal was FIRE?

Hi everyone,
I'm based in Croatia, in my mid-30s, married with two young kids, and my long-term goal is FIRE while making sure my family is financially secure.

My net salary is around €2.900 month (net), plus I have a company car. On top of that, I have a side business through a Croatian d.o.o. that invoices around €5,175 month (excluding VAT). The business has very low operating costs, roughly €200/month.

My current investments are about €25k in cash (which I plan to keep as an emergency fund), roughly €25k invested in VWCE (around 164 shares), and 0.17 BTC. I don't own any real estate. We currently live in an apartment owned by my partner. The only debt I have is a small loan with a €200 monthly payment that will be paid off next year.

What I'm struggling with is deciding on the next step. Should I just keep investing in VWCE and ignore real estate? Or would you use leverage to buy an investment property and rent it out, letting the rental income cover as much of the mortgage as possible?

I'm also curious how those of you who own businesses would handle taking money out. Would you simply distribute profits once or twice a year, or is there a better approach?

If you were in my position, what would your strategy be over the next 10–20 years to maximize the chances of reaching FIRE while providing long-term security for your family?
I'd really appreciate hearing how you'd approach it.

Što biste vi napravili na mom mjestu? (cilj FIRE)

Uz to imam i svoj d.o.o. preko kojeg radim side posao i fakturiram oko 5.175 € + PDV mjesečno.

Best parking for Schönbrunn Zoo with a toddler?

Hi everyone,
We're planning to visit Schönbrunn Zoo by car with our 2-year-5-month-old child. We'd like to park as close to the zoo entrance as possible and don't want to use the U-Bahn or other public transport.
Which parking lot would you recommend for the shortest and easiest walk with a toddler?
Thanks in advance!
