- Id like to note here that I use "Shuka" and "curse" when referring to the being Zashiki turned into, as "shuka" means "curse". But I do try to stick to a usage pattern that makes sense. I tend to use "Shuka" when talking about the being itself in a matter-of-fact way and "curse" when adding the emotional weight of what she actually was, to the dialogue.

- On page 3, I changed the rough translation of Kimi's  "we must move to the next thing" to a more natural "We must proceed to the next step"

- On page 5, Kimi calls Shizu "this one" but the Japanese term he used was a rude and disrespectful way to say "this one" or even worse "this thing".... He literally called my baby "this thing" 😭 But I opted for "this one" because "this thing" is a bit jarring tbh 😭

- On page 8, Kimi says "my ability to see through these things" This was originally "my ability to see through things" but i added "these" because the original sounded a bit aimless and unspecified in English.

Ok so when I first saw the panel where he snatched THE EGG out of Shizu's pocket, I was SCREAMING! I didn't know just how horrible things would get though 😭😭😭 I pretty much crashed out about it on social media while I was translating lmao!

Im SO HAPPY we finally have the egg mystery solved & tbh one of my most prevalent theories was right! Yuko gave that to Shizu to make Kimi forget about her (and rightfully so because his obsession with her is ruining lives!) But Shizu couldn't bring himself to do it. Despite how hes treated by Kimi, he still loves him enough to not want to mess with his memory.... WHICH IS MORE THAN I CAN SAY FOR KIMI RIGHT NOW!

Ok, look, I get that there may be something he foresees happening in the future that makes this the correct path to take.... but just let me be mad at him for now 😭 He stops his soul, STEALS his egg, CALLS HIM A THING, takes away his ability to chose with the egg, THEN HAS THE NERVE TO DECIDE TO WIPE HIS MEMORY??? If this decision is just a reckless one to "keep others from getting hurt" by his Yuko obsession, then I'm sorry, but I was right to worry that he's not emotionally mature enough for his powers. How about he work on taming that obsession, moving on and grieving, and strengthening the connections he still has with LIVING PEOPLE instead of finding a way to continue to obsess over a dead woman without anyone getting in his way!? Im sorry, he's just REALLY frustrating me right now 😤

I love Yuko... but Shizu should've smashed that egg... Shizu almost surly knows what it does because of his turmoil about using it and that time he said he couldn't bring himself to use it because of the state Kimi was in regarding his relationship to Yuko... MAAAANNN.... Idk... We know the egg is still around with Saya so is this how Shizu loses the egg??? Kimi just.... steals it??? And for some reason gives it to Saya??? Boy better put that egg back in Shizu's pocket... Idk Kimi is just pissing me off so much recently (if he actually gave up seeing Haruka as his price, im going to PERSONALLY wring his neck lol)

I actually came to the correct theory about the eggs purpose back when I was in highschool through DouWata symbolism logic and tbh... the logic i used to come to this conclusion still holds up!

Another quick point I'd like to talk about is Zashiki's reason for turning into a Shuka. Ame stated that it was just general "corruption" that effected her and even said that's why she stays in the mountains... Do you think she wasnt aware that it was due to her wishing for Yuko to come back for Kimi? I feel like she'd be wringing his neck if she knew lol! Either way my theory about Zashiki being his house (heart) spirit was right (kinda???) in that she was corrupted because of his circumstances. She still seems to be reflecting his hearts disorder by turning into the Shuka over taking on his wish as her own. So I feel like the symbolism is still there.

Hey! Im back with chapter 81! I really appreciate everyone who keeps coming back to read my translations and everyone who has expressed that they are ok with waiting a little longer than usual for my translations. I didn't have many problems or things to note with the translation itself this time, rather, I had so many issues understanding the context of what I was translating and because I lacked context, I had to rewrite a few things to make them sound smoother once the context was understood.

- Tbh nothing on the page 6 & 7 spread made sense to me lol 😭 He was talking about how the girl was Yukos creation then just started rattling off about how she made him "believe" in something until the "right time" ??? It felt so random but with all the context I think i get it.

The explanation:

I think he was talking about the reason he didn't believe the girl was making a wish with her inquiry about dreams and her reports of Yuko attacking her. His mind was also manipulated by Yuko into not questioning where the girl came from. That's why on the next page, Mokona says "Yuko saw this far ahead". She planned out everything down to the convenient perfectly sized kimono for the girl that was left in the shop. (A tidbit i picked up from reading Chibiyuuto's review)

The translation result:

Because of the context, i decided to insert the "sway me into this mindset" dialoge because the rough draft was nowhere near understandable, only saying "Considerable power, enough to make me believe it" which was super vague. (Also the lack of pronouns killed me here too cause i was like Yuko has considerable power??? because, again, he was literally just talking about Yuko creating that girl 😭)

- I for some reason, misunderstood the last panel on page 13 😭 I thought he was still talking to Yatagarasu but it's actually a small flashback of him telling Maru & Moro to wait with Seoritsuhime until he calls for them. He's only bringing this up because Yatagarasu is worried they will witness what happens next and he's reassuring her that they won't leave Seoritsuhime until he calls.

- On page 14, The first dialoge bubble belonging to Yatagarasu says "you excluded me" but that was tweaked from the rough translation "the one who excluded me" as i think it flows nicer with Kimis response. Also on this page, the rough translation for Kimis response is "you must've known, right?" But i just added "well" because it makes him sound more like he's explaining matter-of-factly why he excluded her from the "soul stop" technique.

📖 Discussion:

I kinda thought "Zashiki-Warashi look alike" looked more like Yuko and ig now we know why lol! "Creations look like their creators" indeed! I kinda figured this was all leading to a soul transfer into nameless girl tbh.

Also, seeing Kimi ACTUALLY put that soul controlling technique to use on his friends is the stuff of nightmares imo 😭 Wouldn't it be crazy if, even through this soul stop no jutsu, Shizu would still be able to see what Kimi does through that shared eye if it weren't for Kimi's ability to suppress it? The eyes are the window to the soul so it'd make sense that his soul is intrinsically connected to Kimi's.

I think Kimis getting kinda dangerous with his powers and i hope hes learned to control them as well as he thinks he has.

- The very first page had me stumped, believe it or not lol! At first I assumed all the dialogue was Zashiki's until I realized that the last 2 bubble wasn't squiggly like hers is, so then I was wondering why Kimi would be talking as if he's not the substitute shop owner by saying  "make a wish to the substitute shop owner" bur then i settled on the assumption that he was just emphasizing the he is the one she should be making a wish to.

- On page 4, I was so tempted to write "in other words, Kimi locked tf in" just for laughs lol 🤣 Because he did lock tf in and im so proud of him for it 👏

- On page 10, Kimi says "It emerged after I broke the amber" but the rough translation of this was "I broke the amber and had it come out" which i felt was off due to the fact that freeing the dragon wasn't the priority (gathering the rain water inside for Zashiki was) so I phrased it in a way that sounds more like it was a side effect of breaking the egg rather than the point of doing so.

- On page 13, Kimi says "because she's a kin to the rain, therefore the dragon as well" The rough translation of this was "because shes a kin to the dragon and associated with the rain" which i thought sounded clunky. Considering he was explaining how Ame was related to the dragon, I felt it better to rearrange the order for it to make sense in English.

📖 Discussion:

Ok im very pleased with how Kimi is handling this so far. As Shizu pointed out, he didn't overlook anything. Though hes operating a bit under the table lol! I love how he finds so many loopholes and breaks rules to some extent to force his way to work.

Am i the only one who imagined Kimi in panic mode running into the shop, grabbing the dragon servants egg and smashing it open like "Sorry bro, I need your water to save a friends life!" Lmao 😂 (I know it didn't happen that way but it's hilarious to imagine lol)

Also, i just have to squeal at the Ame x Zashiki vibes I was getting from Kimi's explanation 💜💜💜💜 (Im sorry, I just really love that couple)

On that note, I'm very happy that Ame seems relieved at this point. Girls been worried sick for like a whole volume at this point 😭

Im also very disappointed with the lack of Shizu recently. He gets a couple lines but idk i miss him 😭

- On page 8, Kimi's first dialoge bubble is supposed to say "I said the shop was closed". That didn't make sense to me because what he actually said to the Furi was "The transaction is closed". My guess is that saying the "transaction" was closed also closed the shop to the Furi since he was only there for the curse that he, did indeed, obtain. So i decided to add that context.

- Page 9..... ohhhhh page 9....

(Fair warning: bit of a rant incoming 😭)

Shizu's dialogue had me stumped for literal HOURS. It seems insane that something that obvious had me stumped for so long but im an overthinker and I was translating this at 3am with NO pronouns/subjects in a sentence that needed THREE in English. The direct translation of this sentence was

"Since cant enter and even the matters of the shops interior doesn't understand huh?"

Absolutely WHAT is that??? 😵‍💫 😭 lmao

Mokonas dialogue eventually helped me understand Shizu's but by that time I just wanted to go to sleep lol

- Also on page 9, Kimi says "Now!..." His original Japanese dialogue says "Next!" but I found that too awkward in English, so I settled in "Now!..." to keep the sense that he wants to move on without sounding so mechanical and robotic for the situation.

- Im just realizing that Zashiki unintentionally rhymes on page 12 😭 Sorry if that sounded off because I really didn't realize until now!

📖 Discussion:

Its really hard to motivate myself to draw but xxxHolic always helps💜 This is my Kimi art drawn in roughly 2hrs altogether! I know there's imperfections here but im trying to be ok with a looser style of drawing so I left sketch lines and resisted the urge to correct every detail. I decided to post my love child headcanon chart lol!

I have a whole story for KuroFai & Alois that I created with my rp partner! Alois looks so much like Yui but his serious eyes and death stare surely come from Kurogane💜 (even though they're a shade of Yui blue)

DouWata & Okuto is just perfect imo! Okuto's design reminds me so much of Shizu (with Kimi's ahoge lol) and he even acts like a mix of the two with Shizu's flat, nonchalant attitude until he's sent into a Kimi-style emotional fit lmao!

As for SyaoSaku & Aiki, I just think that family would be so cuuute!💜 The most wholesome little family 💜 Aiki inherited his dad's looks but also his mom's softness, kindness and innocence 💜

I know not everyone will like these ideas (they are headcanons after all) but id like the comments to stay positive💜

⚠️ Spoiler warning for recent chapters! ⚠️

I came across a comment (see image) that reminded me of a theory i had regarding Zashiki and how she turned into the Shuka. The commenter asked how Kimi could possibly use Zashiki in the Exchange with the Furi if she doesn't belong to him.... but what if she does?

In Japanese folklore (mainly from the Iwate prefecture) Zashiki Warashi are Yokai who preside over families that live in the house that they inhabit. They effectively belong to the family, dictating the prosperity and decline of the household.

Now, CLAMP obviously doesn't create their yokai to be a one for one copy of the yokai from folklore and legends, but they typically do borrow aspects and keep the foundation of the yokai of legend the same.

This leads me to my theory. What if CLAMPs version of Zashiki presides over its chosen "home" with who it connects with? (In this case being Kimi) What if CLAMP has been using Zashiki Warashi to symbolize & reflect the state of Kimi's figurative "house"? It would explain Zashiki's decline and rapid dark corruption. After Yuko died and Kimi fell into despair, Zashiki also started falling into darkness.

Could it be that Zashiki's transformation into the Shuka happened because Kimi couldn't let go of Yuko? Maybe thats why Yuko wants the Shuka. Because its a direct reflection of Kimi's guilt, anger and sadness due to her passing. Perhaps she intends to destroy it?

Chapter 78 is already here! After that month long wait last time, this time felt quick lol! We actually have a chapter page this time but I decided not to color it due to how little is visually going on. It is interesting though! According to Chibiyuuto, its a spread of different real world interpretations of the "Furi" and we can see CLAMPs interpretation behind it for contrast!

Again, we have another chapter that is moreso illustration heavy than dialogue heavy. Very short this time too!

- When the Furi is admiring the Shuka/ curse on page 8, his 3rd speech bubble was a bit difficult to understand. It directly translated to "even if one lives a thousand years, would not see each other again" and that confused me. Though, since he continued admiring the Shuka/ curse on the next page, (even detailing why its rare) I assumed that it meant that the curse was so rare that even living a thousand more years he wouldn't meet another curse so profound & potent, so I added that context.

- On page 10, Kimi says "Exchange." The direct translation was "do the exchange" but I thought that sounded too... fragmented? Or maybe a little unnatural for English, kinda like telling a store clerk to "do the scan". It just didn't work imo, so I thought about using "the exchange?" as if to remind the Furi, but that seemed too meek for the direct demand it is in Japanese. I eventually settled on one word, "exchange" leaving it feeling cold, demanding, and to the point.

📖 Discussion:

I was talking with my sister while translating this one and we were making all kinds of crackpot jokes & theories about Yuko secretly being alive and popping out of the Furi when it opens up to trade only to reveal that she had rigged this whole thing as a test to see if he would actually hand over Zashiki to the Furi and he failed lmao 🤣 I even jokingly suggested that his big plan was to do the trade and wait for yuko to come kick the Furi's ass and take the Shuka (which kinda wierdly makes a little sense because he knows she does want the Shuka & he had that moment where he said "if i believe its Yuko's voice then it is" lmao! (That boys going to summon Yuko from the grave, I just know it)

I just had so much fun with this one because of all the joking we were doing lol
