Splicing into extension cord

Anyone splice a Welcome light into an outdoor extension cord and plugging into an outdoor receptacle for a permanent solution? I want to add one to my deck.

Does the Aqara G5 Pro show as offline in the HKSV timeline when it isn’t actively recording?

Just installed three G5 Pro POE and added to HomeKit. It seems evident that during periods of time of no activity on any of the cameras, the HKSV timelines are saying that the cameras went offline. Is this normal? I’m not getting a “No response” for the camera or any of its accessories. Aqara app doesn’t have them as going offline and as soon as there’s motion, the camera seems to wake up from its offline state in the HKSV timeline. Live feed seems to come up at any given time no problem. Seems like behavior a battery camera would present but I s this normal behavior for the G5 Pro?

Added three G5 Pro’s (POE). Now all cameras in HomeKit lag

Not sure what happened. I previously had two G400’s working via POE and a G2H Pro. They worked exceptionally good in Aqara and the Home app. No drop outs, no lags.

Last night I added three G5 Pro’s via POE and now ALL the cameras are frequently going offline (every 10 mins for a minute or so) and the live feed in HomeKit is very laggy and glitchy for ALL cameras. Live feed works fine in Aqara. HKSV recordings work fine too and the live camera feeds start very fast (1 sec or less). So far I tried rebooting my Unifi router and the Home Hub (newest model AppleTV hardwired).

This has me scratching my head… Any ideas?

What’s the best course of action for this gap? It’s about 1/2”.

Find My, This is a Weird One…

Was at my son’s hockey camp yesterday and got a notification and email that my phone was trying to be located/pinged. Only four members in my Find My, me, my wife, my son and my daughter. It wasn’t me, my son was on the ice, my daughter was on an overnight camp trip and she said it wasn’t her and my wife said it wasn’t her either. We all share each other’s location indefinitely so my wife has no motive to lie about that. She can track my location at any given time via Find My. We’re all on iOS 26.5.1

Any ideas on how else this could happen?

Tool less RJ 45 Termination and Flex Switch

Does anyone know if a tool less style RJ45 termination (see link below for reference) will fit inside the water proofing shroud of a Flex switch? Need to terminate CAT6A on a wall about 20’ up and hate spending more time up on a ladder than I have to.

H2 Dimmer (US version w/ 3 buttons) Looking for info.

If anyone out there has this dimmer switch, can you please advise if the two lower dimmer buttons, well all three buttons for that matter, are configurable in HomeKit as scene controller buttons or can they only be used as dimmers for a load. Thanks.

S100 US Touchscreen Switch Removed From Prime Day Early?

Well that sucks. Can anyone from Aqara verify that this was intentional or just a glitch in the system. Thought I had until midnight tonight. Was going to purchase 10 of them but not at 100 bux a pop. Oh well.

Edit* I’m talking about the $79.99 sale price that went back to full price of $99 early.

Convert To Shortcut “Else, If” Action

Can anyone on the iOS 27 Beta confirm or deny if the HomeKit convert to shortcut allows the “Else, If” action for automations?

This is huge for turning a single button press of a switch into a step dimmer (single press once-100% brightness, single press a second time-75% brightness, single press third time-50% brightness and so on…). Nested “If” actions never worked for this application.

I’ve been waiting for this action for a long time and never thought in my wildest dreams that Apple would’ve implemented it.

Ecobee to W200 with Ecobee Filter Subscription

Has anyone with an Ecobee filter subscription moved from Ecobee to the W200 and still kept the filter subscription? Do you need an Ecobee thermostat running for the filter subscription to remain active?

Weird looking liquid at end of water trail.

Had AC on while charging at a Shell Station. Liquid trail (I assame water from AC) coming from car with weird yellow liquid at the end of the trail. Staying at the tip while trail gets longer. It originally looked like a yellow leaf in the water (was roundish with defined edges) but when I stepped into it, this is what it turned into. It was part of the liquid. Anyone know what that is? Another photo in the comments.

Play Wall Washer Distance From Wall

No mention of this in the online user manual. Was looking to get a pair of these to use for light sync for a TV. Was curious what the minimum distance is from the wall to get these to work good. I was under the impression that these can be very close to the wall and I don’t have much room to work with.

Is this actually working for anybody? All I get is a spinny circle followed by a message to connect to the same WiFi as the AppleTV. This was one of my most used Apple Watch apps when it worked (when it was just a list) but it’s been wonky ever since they switched to this proximity feature. I tried rebooting the Watch, the AppleTV, iPhone, network, disconnecting from Bluetooth, made sure they are on the same network, uninstalling the app, etc. 10 AppleTV’s and all the same useless results.

iPhone 17PM, Apple Watch Ultra 3, AppleTV 4K latest gen all on the latest software version.

For those of you with the S100 Touchscreen Switch, there is a very limited amount of icons you can use when you edit the device card, compared to how many there are in total. I haven’t found anywhere that indicates which ones are usable for the touchscreen so it’s all trial and error. Fortunately for you, I took some screenshots of which ones you are able to use. I’ve reached out to Aqara to expand this very limited list. Please see comments below. The usable icons are circled in red.

FYI, this is only if you are using the Switch via Aqara Hub. HomeKit has its own set of icons which are selectable from the switch itself and only work if you connect directly to HomeKit without an Aqara Hub.

This one is extremely annoying and wondering if it’s happening to anyone else. Never saw this happen with the Gen 2 Bridge.

Basically, all my lights are acting as if they’re responsive in the Home app but the actual physical Hue lights don’t do anything. In other words, the Home app tiles change state but the lights just stay at their present state. Hope the way I’m explaining it makes sense. Power cycling the hub corrects the issue but it happens way too often. Firmware up to date.
