Been trying to practice my character design more and wanted to give this another try. Changed up the bangs and made the ascension sort of reflect the evolution of Shirabyoshi clothing.
Stage 1: Shrine maiden.
Stage 2: the more traditional Shirabyoshi clothing.
Stage 3: An idol outfit based on traditional Shirabyoshi outfits.
Ushiwakamarus Mistress and the "best Shirabyoshi" in the Heian period.
Stage one is Sato Tadanobu, retainer of Minamoto no Yoshitsune who Genkuro pretended to be. Stage two is Genkuro, the white fox who protected Shizuka Gozen, Ushiwakamarus mistress. Stage three is Sato Gozen, Minamoto no Yoshitsunes legal wife.
An idea that came to me from drawing Shizuka Gozen.
So, historically, Ushiwakamarus most remembered romantic partner is Shizuka Gozen, the dancer who incorrectly labled as their wife.
However, Shizuka was more or less "just" their girlfriend and their legal wife was one Sato Gozen (the name she had before marrying Ushi is unknown so this is the usual name she's given) the daughter of Ushiwakamarus wet-nurse.
However, because of political biases and most likely a lack of information on her, Sato is usually either sidelined or completely removed from any stories pertaining to the historical Ushiwakamaru.
Genkuro, meanwhile, is the name given to a pure white kitsune who aided Ushi and Shizuka Gozen during their time escaping from Ushis older brother. They are loyal and heroic but are also a mysterious figure through out the play they're in, pretending to be one of Ushis retainers for most of it before revealing themselves later on.
So, my thought process is, what if Sato Gozen and Genkuro the white fox were the same character with the idea being that Sato had always been a kitsune and had been married off to Yoshitsune (adult Ushiwakamaru) because her family thought her inhumane qualities were a match for theirs, and after her family was killed, Sato faked her death and went into hiding as Genkuro where she helped Ushi, Shizuka and the other retainers while keeping her identity a secret from them.
Ended up giving Ushi a tan by accident lol
Doing research on Sato for a personal project but am finding trouble with it because she seems to get side lined alot when it comes to discussing people associated with Yoshitsune. Anything you can tell me?

Mons: Kricketune. Heracross. Butterfree (Ace).
Steel: An old pirate from Paldea who loves exploring for treasure.
Gimmick: Pirate adventurer.
Color: Lots of light, metallic, gray and light blues with dark green and black accents.

Flying: A pretty flamenco dancer who performs daily.
Gimmick: Flamenco dancer.
Color: Primarily white and red with blue and tanned accents. Maybe make it more red than white?
Notes: Dress needs to have feathers or at least a bird theme. She's the granddaughter of the Steel type trainer so make them have similar skin tones and hair colors. Makeup. Mega evolves her ace.

Ghost: A young man with an over active imagination who is able to communicate with the dead, or, so he says.
Gimmick: Chunibyo.
Color: Dark purple and dark gray with orange and black as the accents. Maybe light gray accents?
Notes: Chuni. Goth look. Heterochromia. Arms are wrapped in bandages. Think, Gundam Tanaka from Danganronpa. Fangs? Mega evolves his ace.
Mons: Mimikyu. Mismageus. Banette (ace).
Dark: A paraplegic and blind girl who enjoys writing.
Gimmick: Horror story writer.
Color: Primarily black with light gray accents. Hair should be platinum blonde and eyes are grayish white.
Notes: Gothic Lolita style dress. Make the wheelchair “cute”. Include a book bag and maybe a leather book in her lap. Mega evolves her ace.
Mons: Mightyena. Zoroark. Darkrai (ace).
Rock: An sculptor with a grumpy disposition and non-conformist personality.
Gimmick: Artist/sculptor.
Color: Dark gray with red accents.
Notes: Punk rock look. Mow hawk and goatee (red tips on Mow hawk). Belt with lots of sculpting tools on. Alola native? Z-move for his ace.

Poison: A friendly woman who works at her own maid café.
Gimmick: Maid café waitress.
Color: Purple and violet with white and orange accents?

Electric: A musician who specializes in techno music.

Ground: A professional belly dancer who says she's from an ancient desert kingdom, but is actually Paldean.
Gimmick: Belly dancer.

Notes: Wears lots of gems and jewelry for her shows. Dyes her hair to sell the character she's portraying. Rivals/childhood friends with the Flying type trainer. Has to be aware of her natural accent. G-Maxes her ace.

Fire: A track star who is struggling to recover from a serious leg injury.

Clemens, Ray, and Georgie. Three brothers from Hawaii who, despite their differing personalities, are close and supportive of one another. ~~Clemens and Ray piss eachother off though~~.
Clemens: A soldier with a straight laced and serious personality who is a bit of a hard ass and serious workaholic. He recently got divorced and isn’t exactly happy about it.
Ray: The middle brother. A street magician and pickpocket who often gets himself into trouble that he has to charm/lie his way out of. He is in a relationship witn Kumo, a daughter of the Greek god Zeus (she's also my friends OC).
Georgie: The youngest brother. A Warlock in training with a deep love for nature and animals. He was cursed by the Volcano Goddess Pele to have the head of a boar unless caught in running water.
Rikita: Georgiea loving girlfriend. A dancer from India with a playful and easy, if at times teasing, personality. She practices what is known as void dancing, which allows her to summon various monsters from Void space.

Sketch of Shizuka (fanservant) and Ushi only partially related, I've been sort of wondering for a bit bow which servants could be canonically considered part of the lgbt+ community due to their historical and mythological facts, or due to word of god by their authors.
Part of my interest in this is the fact that, especially for a Japanese gacha game, there is a surprising number of servants who could be considered part of the spectrum in both sexuality and gender identity, with quiet a few seemingly being unintentional on the creators part. Plus, last day of pride month and I thought this would be a fun topic to discuss.
I have an idea for a strategy rpg/visual novel style game (with possibly dating sim aspects) about a super hero team working to defend their city while balancing their hero lives with their civilian ones.
The game would start with 4 playable characters, and can possibly recruit more as they play the story.
Think something like a modern fire emblem game, mixed with dispatch, and an action comedy anime.
So far I only have the basice concept and characters personalities/narrative roles down and some concept art for the main protagonist whos design I'm probably going to work on.
I'm not very experienced with making a game though (I've only ever done some narrative writing and minor coding in college) and am lost as to the best way to start. Should I begin with a basic story outline and write out the narrative, or figure out the game play and engine first?
