Why did Might As Well ever fall out of regular rotation?
Might As Well was such a great tune and it told the exciting story of the Festival Express. It’s so fun and exciting to hear live. Nearly impossible to not be dancing.
When it was first dropped into the repertoire (‘76), It seemed to be a sign of a great set/show to come. Jerry seemed to really enjoy playing and singing it. It isn’t a difficult arrangement at all and is an absolute rocker, so I wonder why it wasn’t part of the regular rotation.
It was played almost every year since ‘76 but became a rarity after ‘76 besides in the early-mid 80s when it was brought back into the regular rotation. It wasn’t played even once in the Brent-era peak of 89-90.
“Can’t find a ride like that no more.”
Anyone got any knowledge on the subject or even any guesses?
