Trying to get depth added to charts.
TLDR: do I need to purchase a different chart than the original to have depths added to the chart? And also how accurate are chart depths really. The bay we boat in goes from over 20 feet in channels to under 2 feet in many spots. Alot of areas you need to cut through to get where you are going are shallow enough if you come off plane you can't get back up.
Hey there. Recently bought a new boat that had a lowrance elite TI installed in it. I am trying to get depths to show up on the chart as right now it is just blank showing where the water is but no depths.
I mainly boat in Mitchell's bay (lake St Clair) and it is very shallow so you need to know where you are going.
All the options for depth shading or anything are mostly greyed out and unusable.
When you go to chart options the 2 options are "lowrance" and I think the other one says "Navionics". The Navionics one is the worst looking chart I have ever seen lol. The lowrance one seems very detailed except no depths. Do I just need to hook it up to a computer and update something? Or do I need to purchase a different chart. They seem pretty expensive. I had kind of assumed that depths would be an integral part of any expensive marine GPS and would be included.
