Mullvad Browser laggy

Hi- I took a quick look and saw no similar questions.

I use the mullvad browser, typically with [some other vpn]. I find that many things are just really, really laggy. Despite mullvad using its own DNS. Maybe theres a conflict with the VPN, its DNS, or the system DNS, I dunno. I understood the browser will always (unless I modify) use its DNS.

Sometimes pages eventually (after 2 sec) display a subset of the page and functionality, a simple refesh will do it, but not quickly. I click on things, and fractions to whole seconds pass till it reacts. Its worst on financial pages (brokerage), but not only there.

Any suggestions about how to troubleshoot/correct the issue?

Also, I've added the bitwarden PW manager extension- any issues there? Its not modifying pages, I don't think, but its behavior is not consistent. Sometimes I can get it to pre-fill stuff, many times not. But again, there are lags.

Its not the end of the world, and I understand its FF plus settings, so maybe I gotta just get FF vanilla and harden it myself.

Easy(er) ways to do 1040-X for old (2016->) returns? ANY services anywhere?

So, long story short- I need to file amended returns for every year (exc 2020) thru 2016. I have most or all of my disks and even many updates... i foolishly expected- having paid $80/yr to these people- would allow me to do what I, as a taxpayer and customer, need.

And that is have my tax filings USEFULLY available through their product. Until i stop needing it.

Of course not. enshittification is rampant. Intuit is far from a shining knight. Acordingly, I won't use their stuff ever again- they are making my tax life HARDER.

You all know they now assert the licenses are only for 3 years- so my carefully archived TT 2019, or 2022 are apparently impossible 1) get missing updates if I forgot to archive and 2) to activate, even though I have.

So, I look to you all for help- either dealing with Intuit, or by pointing me at somewhere where I can use my archived PDFs or even the TT files, instead of doing this all longhand.

Help me tax people, you are my only hope!

Sins of Omission- RMDs not taken from 2015 inherited IRA

Yeah... so, my Mom was kind enough to leave each of us a chunk of her IRA, not much, a bit over 14K, back when she passed in 2015. I remember hearing something about taking RMDs, a ten year or lifetime... I chose lifetime and just left it. And I'm trying to finish our 2025 taxes (right on time!!)

Remembering "ten years" and the IRA, i figured its time to look at RMDs. Turns out I should have taken them every year, and didn't.

I'm hoping I can get a bit of help with the correct means of correcting and reporting.

The amounts are easy enough to figure once I wade through the varying and byzantine RMD rules over the last 11 years, figure out what applies ... ok- having no idea of the "basis", I see no error in taking none. I'm content to pay all the RMDs based on the prior year's balance on Dec 31.

The 2016 instructions (p590b, 2016) says for my age that tax year (51), says to use 33.3, as the denominator, and reduce by 1 annually. So balance/33.3 for 2016, balance/32.3 for 2017 and so on.

Doing that for every year, I get some amounts. I figure 3 groups for extra taxation- 25% extra tax (2016-2022), 10% (within the "correction window" of 2 years, 2022-2024), and my 2025 RMD.

The question seems like it should be "how much is taxed at 25%" and "how much is at 10%", and pay the feds ... using Form 5329.

For simple numbers, call it $6000 should have been taken 2016-2021 in total, 2023-2024 in sum $4000, and another $5000 for 2025. (2025 was a good year for my investments). So I should owe ($1500+$400) in _extra_ tax.

The form does not do this calculation.

Form 5329 is less than clear, and p590b doesn't clarify. I need to use that form to report the extra taxes and RMDs.

How the heck do I interpret the below?? I have a single "plan". The relevant part of f5329 says...

Line 52a says

"Minimum required distribution for 2025 from all qualified plans for which you received a distribution of the full amount of the excess accumulation during the correction window
Minimum required distribution for 2025 from all qualified plans for which you received a distribution of the full amount of the excess accumulation during the correction window"

Line 52b says

Minimum required distribution for 2025 from all other plans

53a says

"Amount distributed to you during 2025 from all qualified plans for which you received a distribution of the full amount of the excess accumulation during the correction window"

53b says

"Amount distributed to you during 2025 from all other plans"

then do (53a-52a) x 10% and 53b-52b x 25%. mmmmkay...

??????????

Help! pretty please!!

FW3A tail switch ... busted spring, maybe damaged. Any actual replacements/workarounds?

Hi Flashies-

Mu fave light is the FWA3, has been for years. Unfortunately the spring broke off the switch, and I probably fried things trying to solder it back on.

Is there any known tail switch that works as a replacement? I'm not certain if there is circuitry of any type, and if not, maybe simple thread compatibility is all I need.

I've got a few [budget- wurrkos, sofirn] lights that I have begrudgingly acquired in an effort to replace the little guy... but none give me all that handy pocket rocket goodness. Everywhere I look, they are sold out (well... it IS like 7 ish years old).

QQQQ <- me : (

help me BLF members, you are my only hope!
