Do either of these seem good? Feedback please!
I don't want to give too much away but its a video about design and my thoughts.
Would you click on either of these? Thanks in advance for any feedback 😄

I am a student studying design, with a background as an electronics technician.
I just recently started my YT channel and am looking for like minded people to collab with or to just hang out and figure stuff out together with. My channel is quite broad from theory and vlogs, to tutorials and build journeys etc. as this is mostly a portfolio for my startup business. I want to have a small income stream before or just as I finish Uni, because my career is looking bleak^(exciting) with this economy.
Thanks 🦌
I have made a small number of shorts and now 2 long form videos. I see that my CTR is quite low on the long form and I equally have a very hard drop off on them both. So obviously I need to improve the titles and thumbnails potentially. What I am wondering though is if its a good or bad idea to share my videos with family and friends?
To be clear I dont share everything I make but for example I shared a video that was a life update type of thing related to my channel. Actually a lot of those viewers (friends and fam) ended up looking at a lot of my other videos which was fun, but im unsure if thats a good thing or not. I do think some of them genuinely like that kind of content but probably not all of them.
Any thoughts or questions etc? Would love help!
Hi! I am actively working on reuniting rebuilding etc. a local non profit where I live. I only really started to gain traction in finding old members and volunteers recently as I am totally new to the group and had no access to their old accounts etc. Which I still don't. I managed to track down a couple old organizers who were willing to talk to me, help etc. And TODAY am hosting an online meeting on Google meets with at least 5 people but possibly more to discuss how things will go going forward.
I would love feedback from you in the community here on reddit on what kind of things I should bring up as the main first topics. Also any other thoughts or whatever.
I started my detective work about 7 months ago now... and 1 month ago found 2 of the most prominent volunteers from the organization. I also found out the non profit is still registered and one of the two of them is actually the chairman. This means we really should be able to use the old org etc. We got some pretty strong minds on this, I am an interaction design student and former electronics technician, there is a fullstack student, some artists and carpentry experts etc.
I am looking at this as a case of codesign in a sense. Something I have learnt about extensively in university. I hope to use my communication skills etc. To help organize the group into an asynchronous set of individuals all building up the same vision, a vision we all see differently but will be better for that reason.
Thanks again!
Hey!
I am back once again asking for some feedback!
I am looking mostly for feedback on storytelling, and keeping attention etc. as well as if you think the thumbnail catches the eye at all and so on.
I mean any type of feedback is much appreciated.
Its a 21 minute video. The longest I have made so far. So if you do stop watching please also write at what time you decided enough was enough. Or if there were any parts you rewatched and why, or best yet if you watched to the end, can you describe what kept you hooked?
Thanks a lot in advance!
As many feedbacks as possible! No wrong answers! I do not believe in them!
I have only posted a few... and fair enough... I never thought they were great... but I have come to the realization that for a beginner I probably suck even more than a lot of the new youtube channels I have seen...
maybe they are more practiced than I think... have different backgrounds... whatever... but now I feel highly motivated to get cracking and improve
Hi!
I have a lot of thoughts myself on the topic... but what are your thoughts on hiding your ideas for videos? What about having comments as inspiration for new videos? Do you respond to a comment only once you have posted the video reply? Or do you think its fine to reply and then make the video?
Personally still trying to decide, but I definitely feel a bit worried about sharing my ideas too much, else someone else might take the idea. On the other hand I don't think many do what I do.
I started posting in early May on (almost) all social media platforms. Starting something new is always a challenge, especially when some of the skills required are completely foreign. Here are 5 things I learned:
- People are kind, generous, helpful, forgiving and INTERESTED.
- Iterate² - high volume output = high volume learnings
- Burnout is real. Ease up if you need (I took 2 weeks off)
- Find passions it makes everything easier
- Make it 80% done. 100% = unattainable 80% = pretty good
If you have started a new project, hobby or venture what are some things you have learned? Can you guess which skills I am struggling with? Talk to me in the comments 😁
I have made only 1 long form video which currently has gotten 16 views and in comparison I have done 10 short forms with thousands of views on those. I know short form views are very unserious. Keeping that in mind, I dont know if my efforts are worth it for short form videos, especially since although thumbnails do exist for them, they generally don't seem to do anything.
I am curious if I should just stop making shorts entirely for now and focus only on making long form so I can improve quicker? I don't mean growing my channel. I am fairly aware my videos currently suck.
I have run into a lot of very supportive people about my videos, but I am 100% sure they are being mostly kind. I do however think there is SOME truth to things I have been told...
On another note, I have spent a tone of time watching videos on youtube discussing how to get started with youtube over the years... not sure why it took me so long but here I am.
This community has a lot of people posting asking for advice. I have some personal thoughts on what helps to make a channel grow and succeed, but this is all baseless. I do not have a big channel to use as credibility. Simply observations and learnings from around the block. Please feel free to add you own advice as well!
Pick a niche and make videos. Stop overthinkinking the first step.
Try to learn and improve with every video you make.
Long or short form - make at least 3 thumbnails per day or video (whatever is reasonable)
Trust the process. Be consistent. Make videos that fall into the same category somehow as well.
Making more than 3 videos a day is great, but you will burn out. Schedule ahead. Have a backlog ready to publish instead. Subscribers will only get 3 notifications per day per channel anyways so might as well stop there. (I am not sure if this applies to community posts too)
Try to have fun, try to be unique, try to be you. If you are not being passionate about it, likely people will realize.
Fake it till you make it. Credibility often is built on pure egotistical confidence.
Make friends online
Find people around you to learn from and work with
Hey there!
I have been looking online for months at this point on websites such as objektvision and other websites that come up when you Google hyra lokal or hyra verkstad or such.
I do not actually need a lot of space, and the smallest place I have seen during this time has been 30 square meters. I don't mind more space of course, but more space means more money. I don't want to spend crazy amounts per month for a 1 person workshop, where I plan to do electronics work like soldering, as well as minimal amounts of carpentry and probably decent amounts of 3d printing and potentially a few other things. Hence the need for a workshop space and not an office. Amenities would be nice... but realistically having a space at all with electricity would already be great.
Anyways does anyone have any advice on where I can find a small space? Realistically I could manage with 10 square meters even. I already have been looking into makerspaces instead of private but I haven't found any... but please let me know if you know of any that would fit!

Hej,
I live in Malmö and I have been trying to figure out if I can find a very small space to rent as a workshop for things like soldering and 3d printing etc. (Maybe also trying other things like woodworking and so on)
I want my own space, although I have looked into makerspaces as well. I want to be able to use the space many hours every week though so ideally my own space. I dont have a lot of money to spare but I was also thinking instead of renting maybe I could buy a large van? I know how to repair them to some extent so I am not too worried although extremely bad rust is my limit currently as I am not a skilled welder. (I also do not own a welding machine)
Any thoughts and advice are appreciated. I already have started looking at klaravik for example. But thoughts on how to find a space under 30 square meters for this purpose would be great too! (I cant use typical office space)
Hi, I want some feedback on my channel in general.
To give some background first before you do - I am a student of interaction design. Former electronics technician. I am doing a project right now about wearables I clothing. My channel will always focus on design, electronics stuff and the projects I do in general.
This is slowly building into a business to find clients and to inspire people to learn these things as well.
If you fit as someone who would watch those things... please enjoy! Otherwise.... please check it out anyways and let me know what you think! I appreciate any and all feedback! Totally up to you to decide what you wish to say, so long as it follows the rules of the subreddit of course! I see this as a form of design in of itself. 😇
Here is my channel link:
I literally just started with putting up videos because I think its fun. I genuinely do not care if I become rich from this. I do want to be able to do this part time and not have a full time job... but I genuinely dont mind it being a very small source of income so long as it doesnt cause me to go bankrupt.
So... genuinely... anyone else here making videos just for the fun? If I did somehow get rich, of course that would be amazing... but I am painfully aware that that requires a different mindset then mine or a lot of luck. So.... yep. In the meantime I will be doing freelance work or whatever as well... and that would count towards this content creation journey as well in my opinion, but I also have skills to offer and therefore would 100% be able to earn money that way... but the dream would be to make content on the different platforms and use that to make cool things or whatever.... anyways...
Thanks for listening to my Ted talk.
