Why the dearth of cinemas in Kalyan?

Why are they located in the peripheries either in the Patri Pool area or all the way in Triveni. Why no proper cinema halls say near Birla College, Syndicate, Rambaug. That Cinemax in Khadakpada closing cost a lot. Now just getting to the cinema costs 100-150 depending on where you are in Kalyan West.

Same with Kalyan East just the one in Metro Junction.

ESim activation not working from India

I saw some posts where people claim that the ESim activation can be done completely out of the US. I did so, paid around $12 for the plan+eSim and $20 pay as you go balance for roaming. The eSim was detected by my phone but now it's not finding any network. I did everything using ExpressVPN to USA.

What should I do so it eventually finds a network?

I want to port my US Google Fi number to this but won't do it until I confirm it can connect to some network.

I can't even turn on International Roaming from My Tello because it says it should be done from the US only. I have a Google Pixel.

33M Marriage, career and foreign residence

33M. Born in India lived in the USA from 2014-2026. Lost my job now moving back to India.

  1. Why is this international move happening now? Will I be able to return to the US again in the future?

  2. Tried to get married via arranged marriage so many times, but something or the other didn't work out and the marriages were called off. When will I get married?

  3. Career was good until 2020 but went downhill after. Lost job twice and had to face toxic culture and bad management. Growth has been stagnant. Will it get any better?

Why do you people not use transit to trails?

Visited the city from NYC this weekend - I'm big on using transit as much as possible. I took TCAT to Taughannock and Treman this weekend, and on all 4 segments I was the only one on the bus. Felt kinda guilty after a point to have the entire bus for myself. The bus timings were super convenient. The buses were on time.

Not just that, I think you guys underestimate how walkable your town is. You have a huge Wegmans 10 min walk from downtown. You have all these cool restaurants and a pedestrian plaza right there. It could have been an example for other American small towns around how to ditch car ownership by funding TCAT more.

Highly recommend taking TCAT to trails so they introduce more such buses or continue these buses in Autumn as well.

Days like today are a reminder why we need a denser tree cover

The shade comes in handy on such days. More trees, more parks, fewer cars, less concrete and metal in the city please. I feel so bad when I see a SeeClickFix request for tree removal. Dead trees are never replaced.

Raja Shivaji lifetime box office estimates

After Weekend 2:

  • Total Nett: 70 crores
  • Marathi Nett: 50 crores
  • Hindi Nett: 20 crores
  • Worldwide Gross: 81 crores.

Final lifetime estimates:

  • Total Nett: 105 crores
  • Marathi Nett: 70-75 crores
  • Hindi Nett: 30 crores
  • Worldwide Gross: 130 crores.

For a budget of 75-100 crores, it will end up an "above average" to "hit" verdict.

Comparison with 2 other successful movies:

  • Sairat (2016): Nett: 81 crores, Gross: 110 crores

  • Baipan Bhari Deva (2023): Nett: 75 crores, Gross: 91 crores

So the pure Marathi Nett numbers will not cross Baipan Bhari Deva, let alone Sairat. We'll still be waiting for a pure Marathi-only 100 crore Nett movie. (Like Ghajini was Hindi's first 100 crore+ nett movie).

Overall a good attempt that takes Marathi movies budget and scale to the next level, expect more pan-India actors and higher budget/risks taken in Marathi movies going forward, but wish it was a slightly better movie to get to 150-200 crores. Maybe next time!
