If I had a penny for every time the NHS 111 Crisis Team called me by the wrong name...

2p isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice.

First time they were too busy when I called and said someone would call me back later. I got a call at 2am asking to speak to someone else entirely, she must have read the wrong row of the spreadsheet and mixed up my number with the next person's name. When I said that wasn't me she asked if I was sure. Weird thing to say.

This time she just casually said "You see, David, that's the process we follow." Three times in the conversation she called me David before I corrected her. Then she did it once more. So I guess it's 5p not 2p.

And my name isn't Fontanelle or Tonngaviak. It's a common standard English name, the kind where there's always two or three with the same name in school or an office and you need to use initials.

I know NHS standards have been slipping for a long time but I expect a basic level of skill to at least get the patient's name right.

Why do some EU citizens want the UK back in the EU/regret Brexit?

Obviously, there's plenty of EU citizens who don't care, but I seem many comments on social media posts discussing Brexit from EU citizens expressing upset at the loss of the UK from the EU. Many British citizens mourn the loss of the right to live, work, study and retire in 26 other countries, but you EU citizens still can travel and live freely. Is it felt as a loss to you guys?

What do I do when two NHS Mental Health teams refer me back and forth to each other?

The Primary Care Mental Health Tam referred me to the Secondary Care Mental Health Team. Secondary care sent me to the Crisis Team who sent me back to Primary Care who sent me back to Secondary Care.

I called Secondary Care who claim to have no copy of my referral. I called Primary Care who claim they definitely sent the referral back in June and it was definitely received because they got a confirmation message.

I asked Primary Care what I should do if I speak to Secondary Care again and they claim to have never received that referral, he said that's impossible and Secondary Care definitely definitely received the referral on 3rd June. I spoke to Secondary Care again and they said there's no referral in June, the last contact was in April when they sent me to the Crisis Team.

So I went back to my GP who referred me to Primary Care who did (another) initial assessment and referred me to Secondary Care (again) who rejected me and sent me back to my GP with a recommendation that I be referred to Primary Care (again).

I've reached a point where both Primary Care and Secondary Care decide the other team are better able to help me and they just pass me back and forth forever.

What actually happens if you call 999 for a mental health crisis?

Every time I speak to an NHS mental health team they remind me it is not an emergency service and if I need urgent help I should call 999.

I have asked what happens next and not received a clear answer. If you're having a heart attack they come around with a defibrillator or whatever they need to do to treat the problem. Or if you've been stabbed they can rush you to the hospital for urgent surgery. But what do they do for a mental health incident?

There will be specific scenarios where they can literally talk you down from the ledge if you're literally standing on the edge of a building. Or they can knock the bottle of pills out of your hand or confiscate all knives and scissors in your house if that is the specific situation. But what about a more generic "I can't handle this anymore" situation? There's no such thing as a De-sadenator they can give 500 volts of happiness into your body. There's no mental health operating room to rush you into for emergency surgery. So what do they do?

The answer I have been given is a vague politician's non-answer about making an assessment of the situation and choosing an appropriate action based on an assessment of the situation. Which tells me exactly nothing. Everyone in every situation ever will make an assessment and choose an appropriate action based on an assessment of the situation, that doesn't help clarify what the appropriate action would be.

I tried to draw out some information with guesses, do they send an ambulance with someone to sit with me and have a cup of tea? Do they take me in to A&E to sit next to people suffering DIY related injuries? Do they refer me to the Crisis Centre who refer me to the Community Mental Health Team who tell me to call 999 and the referrals go round in a circle forever?

No one would give me anything more concrete than "make an assessment and choose an appropriate action".

Why do a lot of people regard Brexit as a mistake?

I have read that a lot of people think Brexit was a mistake, some even want to return to the EU.

In the last years, you have made steady GDP growth, seen numbers we in continental Europe can only dream of.

Yes, sure, you have issues. But where does the EU help with that?

The Union is overburdened with red tape, bureaucracy, it can't get anything done. The growing economic gap with the US is more than telling. Sure, you have these issues too, but they won't get better if you then even have a supranational level where you have to fight for a better economy.

EDIT: Since a lot of people asked about evidence regarding GDP numbers:

Hot potato hot potato. Pass the patient to the next team immediately!

GP sent me to the IAPT Mental Health Team whose email sent me to their website with a chat bot which told me to install an app which put me on a waiting list for an assessment.

They sent me to the Crisis Centre. Who sent me to the Secondary Mental Health Community Service. Who sent me to a Primary Care Mental Health Team who didn't contact me. I contacted my GP again who sent me to the IAPT team again who this time sent me straight to the Secondary Mental Health Team again, skipping the Crisis Team. But they didn't call me back either.

Every step of the chain I tell them I'm sick of being hot potatoed between different teams who don't coordinate, don't know what the others are doing and don't pass on anything other than my name so every time I need to start from scratch with another initial assessment.

The man actually laughed at me. "Oh no! You misunderstood totally. We don't just throw you over to another team. We all work together to take a holistic approach to coordinating your care and finding the best way to work together and find what's the best for you." The fact they didn't contact me for two months showed that was a lie.

And no one does emails, it's always phonecalls. As if they want to leave no paper trail and make it harder to call them on their lies.
