Defeated by my own ego

Id appreciate some honest advice i know what i have to do but i just don’t know how to cope with it or get myself out of my own head. Ive been proven profitable for over 7 months just this last month though i blew up pretty much the last of my money from trading my life situations led to me using the charts and my pnl as something to prove my own self worth and i kept over leveraging and as my bank account diminished i blew about 40k in saving in about a week i needed trading to work so i didn’t have to go back to my old life working a job but obviously that was counterintuitive. I know i have to have another source of income now but my ego makes me feel like im above it when i wad pulling 20k months profit from trading and now i have to go back to making what id make in a week in a month i just cant bring myself to do it and its been about a month now and i know i have to if i want to continue trading but be more process driven and not so money hungry this time because i know i can pull money out the markets. Im only 21 years old
I know this isn’t the end of the world i just need some advice because this situation has really put me into a dark place and i just want to get back to where ice shown myself i can be i had to move home lost those friends this whole thing happening in such a short time just collapsed my identity and i feel lost.

Sep pnl

Trading since the 2008 crash, and I’ve never seen the cost of participation this brutal. My Aug P&L shows ₹10.2k realised profit but ₹25.4k in charges, leaving me ₹15.1k negative. STT, GST, exchange fees and other charges keep eating into traders’ capital.
Meanwhile, huge corporate debts can get settled through insolvency mechanisms at massive haircuts. The recent Zee case involved ₹22,006 crore of admitted claims being settled for about ₹6.25 crore.
Is this really a fair playing field for ordinary traders? Or are small traders becoming the government’s easiest source of revenue?

You’re Just Overcomplicating a Game of Ping Pong

Trading isn't complicated. It just feels complicated because everyone's trying to make it complicated.

Here's the whole game, price is a ping pong ball, and support/resistance levels are rubber paddles. The ball hits a paddle, it bounces. Simple. The only thing you actually need to learn is how hard it bounces and that's just physics. The more the ball stretches away from a level before it comes back, the bigger the reaction when it does. That's it. That's 80% of price action.

Everyone's out here stacking 6 indicators on their chart hoping one of them whispers the future to them. RSI, MACD, stochastic or whatever, they're all lagging. They're telling you what already happened, dressed up to look predictive. In the long run that stuff just adds noise and makes you hesitate at the exact moment you should be acting. Price is the only thing that's real-time. Everything derived from price is just price, but late.

And here's the thing nobody admits. everyone secretly believes they have "ball knowledge." Like some innate feel for where price is gonna go. You don't. I don't either. What actually exists is pattern recognition built from watching thousands of candles react to levels, over and over, until the reaction becomes obvious before it happens. That's not a gift. That's reps. People want to skip the reps and call the result "intuition."

You don't need 15 tools. You need one clean chart, a handful of real levels, and the patience to watch how price actually behaves when it gets there. Everything else is decoration.

Edit - point of this post is about not over complicating trading.

Breakouts happens when the speed of the price is too high that level fails to slow it down. Also Support/Resistance levels are not some random lines that you draw on chart, it’s Liquidity Levels and i mentioned about how to mark it on chart somewhere down in comments.

FII selling just hit a multi-month high - why is Nifty holding steady?

We've seen a noticeable uptick in FII outflows recently, hitting figures that haven't been this high in a long time. Usually, this kind of sustained selling from foreign institutions puts a decent amount of pressure on the indices. Yet, Nifty seems relatively unfazed, not showing the kind of correction you might expect. What am I missing here?

Your best stock pick for 2026?

I came across this post on r/wallstreetbets where they suggest their stock picks for the next year, pick the top 10 then analyze the performance on the year end. This year's return was 76% 😲.

So let's do this for Indian markets.
Please share only one stock, it'll be good if you can share why you're picking it.

Based on the number of upvotes and how many times a stock was suggested, I'll share the consolidated list by 9 A.M. tomorrow (1/1/26) .

So, let's do this. Drop your best pick.

Update 1/1/26 I believe this post was made very late so we'll wait for more suggestions and I'll share the list by Monday (5/1/26) 8 A.M.

Update 5/1/26 I posted this across multiple subs related to Indian stock market. Took me hours to compile the list. Here are the top 10 based on the combined data of all subs, in descending order of upvotes.

  1. KPIGREEN
  2. GROWW
  3. BAJFINANCE
  4. ATHERENERG
  5. MAHABANK
  6. DIXON
  7. HBLENGINE
  8. TENNIND
  9. VIKRAMSOLAR
  10. RECLTD

How do you guys make a DD?

I am 21 and I'm getting into investing, definitely leaning towards being a long term value investor. I am currently reading up on investing through books and websites like investopedia and I also noticed this reddit community being fairly serious and helpful.

More context, I am ready to start investing and I know the fundamentals. I have 10k saved up and I have a pretty stable minimum wage job on the side, while also studying.

So I was wondering how you guys make your DD. Obviously I'm not looking to copy and paste methods, but I'd like some ideas and inspiration to be able to analyse a company/stock by myself and create my own method. You can also refer me to links, videos and other resources.

Any and all help is appreciated!

Edit: I'm blown away by the response and I'd like to thank all of you. Looks like I have a lot of reading and learning to do and I'm excited. Again thanks for every response I have read them all, though I can't respond to them all
