Positive Vibes this Meta Monday!

Positive Vibes this Meta Monday!

Let's spread some positivity for a change. I'm feeling ill and want positive stories and pet pictures. If it's just in the one post, people who don't want to engage can ignore it. Do you have something positive that happened to you this week or this month? For me, getting back from London my cat Fionn was actually sweet and affectionate. He nuzzled me. Given I felt like death when travelling, it was nice to have him be sweet after all that.

Happy Meta Monday! Here’s an example of the losers we get here from time to time

He then decided to complain and repeatedly insult me while using the silliest swear replacement words I’ve ever heard. For the record, when people demonstrate they don’t know the rules here they get banned. If they demonstrate they understand and wish to engage in good faith, they get unbanned. I have not yet found anyone who has decided to learn the rules instead of just arguing with me about how their post didn’t break platform rules. This man genuinely thought he was being targeted for being a man, instead of the same rules as everyone else. This isn’t how every post we encounter is, but sometimes you get the obvious misogynists and it is in no way surprising how they act.

Trapped on a barren world, you build a safe place, and find others have tried to survive before you. But there are ways to escape from here.

It’s also a surprisingly beautiful game, but that’s not really relevant.

Happy Second Meta Monday for those interested

Everyone feel free to post meta content today. Anything tangential to the sub’s purpose will be acceptable. It does not have to be posts pointing out examples of dehumanising language today.

Introducing the first Meta Monday!

Meta Monday will consist of vaguely related topics (without needing to find examples of dehumanising language to post) but you will need to use the new Meta Monday flair for any off topic posts. We are going to test this out using GMT/BST to start with and would prefer if people try to keep to this so far. This is a test to see engagement and feedback from users. Enjoy your first Meta Monday!

Daily Set gone from PC view?

Earn page seems to have removed the daily set that was there last night. Looks like it’s still on the app but not here for some reason?

Should we add Meta Monday?

The concept of Meta Monday means we can post things outside of the typical callout posts. We can discuss issues like other mistreatment besides this language, post about positive interactions where change has happened in language, or even show each other feminist music that exemplifies our feelings about living in this world that clearly has a bias against women. For this context, meta refers to both self referential as well as posts outside the convention of post expected here.

Rule rebellion?

So I joined a subreddit with an existing rule that was made to reduce the amount of people who join to start issues and post negatively about the community. It’s one specific word we don’t use because it would make us hypocrites. Unfortunately there has been a large number of people verbally attacking me for trying to enforce this rule. A rule they had been mostly following for months without issue until I specifically asked them to respect that rule.

Does anyone know of a way to deal with this? I’m getting almost 100 downvotes any time I try to explain why the rule exists or the purpose in enforcing it. So much I even had an anxiety attack after being accused of being a misogynist and a Nazi for trying to enforce a rule I didn’t even make. I know it’s a very unusual situation, but does anyone have any suggestions or advice on how to deal with this community hatred I’ve suddenly encountered?

Anyone else get hip or neck pain from walking?

So I’ve had chronic abdominal pain since my early 20s that started out with doctors thinking it was just bad period pain (because it became constant). And that as well as a cartilage issue in my knee I inherited from my mum (Chondromalacia Patellae we believe) has made it difficult for me to leave the house.

I have a once every few weeks walk with a healthcare person and while I can definitely walk further than when I started with her, it’s always really painful. I use a walking stick because my knees are weak (started with dislocations then subluxations and now just sitting wrong can cause my knees pain to get significantly worse). And when we walk I end up with my hip feeling really bad (could be fibromyalgia or something else) and if I slump or try to force myself to move too fast with the stick, I get a neck pain that feels as bad as when I got whiplash.

So I was wondering if anyone else has these kinds of issues and if so, how do you manage that kind of pain while also trying to do what you need to do daily? I don’t leave the house most days but I still have to leave at least once a week to see my parents or help my husband do the shopping. I’d love some fellow commiserations or suggestions for managing this specific kind of pain. And I hope everyone who reads this is having a good pain day, where it’s as low as can be for you.
