Melee bow army advice

My entire army is chosokabe bow samurai and chosokabe bow ashigaru with master weaponsmith and armory (+4+2)

My daimyo has gomuyumi and mato (+10 accuracy, +5 accuracy)

The idea is an experiment in a generalist army where everyone can do ranged and melee. So far they are winning.

First question is about the third retainer

Third retainer I have a few options saved:

Legendary menpo (debuff enemy morale)

Omato (+5 accuracy)

Master architect (+2 command when besieged)

Other (anything else)

My second question is should I switch to gold armor (+0+5) or stick to silver weapon silver armor (+4+2)?

I have master weaponsmith in Bizen and master armorer in Satsuma. No other provinces.

My theory is the +4+2 makes them stronger overall in melee, able to kill enemies before they get in en masse in castles, but +0+5 (gold armor) will make them tank missiles better and also hold the line in melee better, buying more time for the men behind to shoot arrows.

Have you tried this type of weird army?

Rate this retainer

I don't usually take honor retainers but this one is twice as good as most. How would you rate it? And how good is honor compared to +10 diplomacy (pet tiger, bakuto)

Can I make my brother my heir?

It's not giving me the option to make him my heir. Is it not possible?

Sword of Amateur Sue

Just a simple question but would love a yes or no

Is the sword of Amaterasu available to generals or only daimyo? And can you have multiple (one for each general)?

How many types of castle are there?

And what provinces have which castle? This would be a great thing to map if nobody has done it yet. There's at least 5 types. Probably more.

Golden Buddha

It lists these three effects in ambiguous way. I am so confused. What does it do? Does it reduce cost and also reduce other costs?

Tier list of retainers

Curious what tier you'd put this shogi champion in and if you have your own idea of a tier list of retainers.

Also - do daimyo or general get better retainers?

Are traits permanent?

My general just unlocked "war is slaughter" (instills fear) at rank 6, so I'm considering skipping investing points in "intimidating". But I'm not actually sure if traits are permanent or not

For example brave, heroic, mirror of Amaterasu, impolite.

Armor or weapon for my no dachi

I am playing Date. I have a general experience with two retainers that give +1 sword attack each, and stand and fight rank 3 (+3 attack all units iirc). And ranked so basically my no dachi have massive attack. Like 25 attack.

2 armor (default).

I can get the weapon or armor buildings for +6 attack or +5 armor (or some combo, or charge bonus).

They have banzai charge.

I suppose it's technically better to buff the armor. Idk how the system works. But I imagine tripling the armor makes bigger difference than +20% attack or thereabouts.

But I'm tempted to go weapon or charge just for the madness. If it allows them to shred and rout the enemy fast enough, perhaps it is worth it.

I tend to think the proving ground (+5 charge) is a bad deal. But I don't know for sure.

I like to use banzai either during charge or just before their morale breaks. Not sure which is better.

Do any of you daimyos have meditation on this?

Destroy castle?

It should be a very simple question so apologies if so, but is it possible to destroy or reduce castles? For example I conquer a province with a citadel. Can I destroy it back into a fort or a stronghold? It doesn't seem possible. But this seems like obvious thing you should be able to do.

Should I try ROTS

I have never played ROTS but I have access to it. It seems like a bit of a learning curve so I haven't tried it yet. What's your take on it, is it worth it? What should I know? How does it compare? Biggest differences?

Can't trade iron

Nobody wants to trade iron. Even if a faction has iron from trade node or province it seems they don't trade it. The icon says no iron. Is this a known bug or some issue im having?

Over costed units

Which units are the most over costed?

Seems like everything beyond yari ashigaru is of dubious value. But especially hero units and those naginata warrior monk cavalry...

Or perhaps it's actually costed fairly and I'm thinking about it wrong?

Challenge run

Has anyone tried or got suggestions for a self imposed challenge / gimmick run?

Like maybe all European units, or only ashigaru. No agents etc. What have you tried and how did it go?
