The Sound and Emotion of Pre-Emo/Nu-Emo (first time)
This is my first time making a playlist here, it's clearly inspired by IGotSatan posts, which I consider pure art, The list might look a little disorganized.
bands similar to Linkin Park in sound
If you want the energetic and rebellious sound of Hybrid Theory, I'd recommend LeVeL self-titled album, the singer of this band would later become the frontman of Adema.
And if you want the electronic, rebellious, and melancholic sound of Meteora, I'd recommend Surrounded By Freaks by Tribal Ink, who are from Sweden. They became known for the song Refugee, something curious happened: it was mistaken on LimeWire and other P2P sites for a Linkin Park song from the Minutes To Midnight era.
Note: I only chose one band per album
The Apex Theory - Apossibly (2002) (Minority Report: Everybody Runs Trailer Soundtrack)
Fun fact: Ontronik Khachaturian, the vocalist of this band, was the first drummer for System of a Down before John Dolmayan
Drake Bell - I Found A Way (2005) (Drake & Josh Theme)
youtube.comLinkin Park - Points Of Authority (2000) (Little Nicky Soundtrack)
It's my father's favorite LP song
Lostprophets - SHINOBI VS STABBED NINJA (2000) (ATV Offroad Fury 2 Soundtrack)
PLS DO NOT ATTACK OR HATE ME
ITS JUST MUSIC
Can we agree that The Fake Sound of Progress was actually a really solid nu metal album before all the controversies?
I’m obviously talking strictly about the music and the era it came from, not defending Ian Watkins in any way
Back in the early 2000s, the album stood out because it mixed classic nu metal elements with post-hardcore, alternative rock, turntables, emotional melodies, and a more atmospheric sound compared to a lot of the generic copycat bands at the time. Songs like “Shinobi vs Dragon Ninja,” “Kobrakai,” and “The Fake Sound of Progress” had a lot of energy while still being catchy and experimental
Even older reviews mentioned how the album blended melody, aggression, hip-hop influences, and emotional songwriting in a way that felt fresh for the genre at the time. Some reviewers compared parts of the sound to bands like Faith No More, Linkin Park, and Incubus
Even now, a lot of nu metal fans still admit the album had great songwriting and was influential in the UK scene, despite the band’s legacy being completely destroyed later on
I feel like it’s one of those albums that represented the more melodic and experimental side of early 2000s nu metal really well
Yesterday I posted here that I wanted progressive nu metal albums or bands
Could you recommend any Nu Emo bands or albums, or similar ones, besides Fingertight, Die Trying, and Still Naive?
Can anyone here recommend any progressive or technical nu metal albums besides Mudvayne, Atomship, Pulse Ultra, and Karnivool?
I'm kind of new here, It's an easy question, If there are no more albums like this, I'll take it well
Incubus - New Skin (1997) (Test Drive: Off-Road 3 Soundtrack and Motocross Madness 2 Soundtrack)
youtube.comAre these Deftones albums still considered Nu Metal or Adjent?
It's just an easy question because honestly, I don’t think these albums completely abandoned nu metal
I think they still contain a lot of nu metal elements, just mixed with shoegaze, alternative metal, and more atmospheric/experimental sounds
X-Ecutioners - Its Goin Down feat. Mike Shinoda, Mr Hahn and Wayne Static (2002)
Underrated song
