If KW shuts down Raceroom, do we lose everything?

Sometimes I have trouble connecting to the servers and the game is not playable. That got me wondering, have they ever said what happens if they shut down RRRE?

It’s my favorite sim, but also not very popular in the US, and it does have me a bit concerned putting more and more money into it that it couldn’t disappear.

I play many sims , and they can all be played offline (I don’t do iRacing) except for Raceroom.

Giancarlo Esposito

My wife and I are both VERY sure he died a couple of years ago. I remember being pretty upset because I was watching the Mandalorian at the time and he was just in Far Cry 6. My wife says heart attack, I don’t remember the exact cause.

A google search showed we are not alone on this, a few Reddit posts and Facebook comments have him dying around 2024 which aligns with our memories.

Laptop died, won't power, makes 'ticking sound' when holding power button.

Hi all,

I have an older laptop that i've been using as my local Plex media server for a couple of years now, and it unfortunately seems to have died this morning. It was working at about 1am last night, but dead at 11am this morning.

By 'dead' i mean the power button does nothing but make the laptop 'click', which seems to be coming from the internal components.... somewhere. No lights, no screen, no fans moving, no BIOS, nothing.

--

It's an Acer Aspire laptop, has Windows 11, 16gb RAM, 256g SSD, an an Intel 8th gen (unsure details of this). I'd guess it's from about 2018. The clicking occurs 2-3 times per second, kind of like what you'd get from a gas burner stove before it ignites. Weirdly similar sound to that, actually, but a slower speed. If i get my ear really close to the ticking sound, there is almost an electrical 'whir' sound behind it, like a little electrical feedback sound or something. It's hard to explain and extremely quiet, but is there behind the 'ticking'.

I've taken it apart and done some troubleshooting myself.

  1. RAM removed, still clicks.
  2. SSD removed, still clicks.
  3. Battery removed (plugged in), still clicks.
  4. Unplugged on battery power, still clicks.

It's pretty hard to locate the source of the 'clicking', but i am fairly sure it's near or at the CPU. It's not from the battery, RAM, SSD, or fan area. It's under a part of the heatsink. I have not taken this off yet, because i am honestly not sure what I can do if the CPU is the problem.

The battery appears healthy, not bloated, etc. I have of course googled this, but all i'm seeing are fans, or old HDD's , which this laptop does not have. I did see some suggestions it could be a PSU or electrical fault or short, but i am not sure how to diagnosis or fix that.

Any other advice before i just consider this thing a goner?

Thank you!

I cannot figure out if I have an LX or an EX.

I have a 2020 Honda civic with a sunroof, heated seats, rims, and android auto. All signs point to this being an EX, though I don’t think I have a turbo. Google / AI may have steered me wrong on this , because it’s very confident an LX doesn’t have these features.

I looked over my lease I signed back on 2020 and it does not say anywhere. I put the VIN into car fax, and it said an EX. So I ordered tires as Belle tire for the EX, and they now tell me I need 16 inch tires, not 17.

Is it possible to have an LX with the heated seats and sunroof and all that? I also have the fin at the top for what I assume is satellite radio.

I logged into my Honda account online and it just says Civic, not the trim.

EDIT: thanks everyone, pretty certain I have an EX now.
