I don’t even like demon slayer, it’s the definition of style over substance, but I still can not believe how genuinely excited and flabbergasted I was that this guy stood back up after looking absolutely dead. And it doesn’t help that it’s followed by one of the most impressively animated “fight” scenes I’ve ever seen. (Fight in quotes because from what I recall it’s just a lot of blurry slashes and fireworks). Sometimes style over substance just works because this was truly hype. Did it make sense? Not really. But boy was it jaw dropping.

Honorable mentions include spot vs miles morales (it was round 2 for the villain this time, fun twist) and Absolute Batman vs Bane

If vegeta taught us anything, this character will be on everyone’s team if this is his assist. And theirs no super dash to beat it fellas.

Part of the reason I’ve never been able to get into this franchise is because of the characters. There’s not a single character in this series that fills my niche to my knowledge. The new game looks stunning, but it once again doesn’t appear like they have a character that I would wanna learn and play. Are there no boxers here? Nobody wearing gloves in this series? It seems like a perfect fit to have one, even if it’s unrealistic to have a person exclusively punch in a game like this, I think that’s what would make it interesting, especially with 6s mechanic to injure specific parts of the body, boxer would obviously only attack the head and body but not the legs, creating a built in limitation and therefore a different play style.

TLDR, they need a Dudley in this game

I didn’t care about this game at all, betas looked like a slower, mashier, and overall lamer version of dbfz. Even after the great changes they made I just already didn’t care, I was skipping this game.

But then goblin appeared and had a VERY interesting looking play style, hopping on and off the glider for stance change gimmicks looks so fun. Obviously fighting games have always been about the characters, but MAN it has never been more apparent to me how much I need to see certain things before I’m interested in them. I assume the Magneto heads are going through something similar right now.

I generally think these costumes are a little pointless and kinda corny, but I’ve been waiting for another gloved up Ed costume, this is what I got for better or worse.
