I prefer the old electromechanical pinball machines they sounded great, we're fun to play it only cost a dime. When I was a kid I remember they used to cost a nickel. And the scores to get a replay we're not out of reach like some of the newer machines.

They used to be a place called Revere Beach a few miles from me and they used to have buildings loaded with pinball machines in the '60s. I would spend a whole afternoon there. I've been to the pinball Hall of Fame in Las Vegas they claim to have every gottleib machine but in reality they don't. I was a little disappointment in the collection that they had there were several versions of the same machine one after another after another.

In 1966 when I was 13 years old I used to be a caddy at the Winthrop golf club Saturdays and Sundays and make 8 dollars a day. I r a k e d leaves on lawns for a dollar shovel snow out of doorways for a dollar and saved as much as I could of it. I used to send it away for and build Estes rockets I absolutely love them on weekends my father would take us to these big parking lots to fire them off. After losing my first rocket to the wind I learned how to aim it so they landed pretty much where we were standing. A model cost between like $1.50 and $4 the average engine was about 40 cents a piece. I miss it so much I'm 72 years old now even if I built them I wouldn't know where to shoot them off

He made money hand over fist at this place. For 4 years during the war Scollay square was jam-packed with servicemen looking for places to drink.

He owned a two family house and Winthrop where he lived owned a house in Hollywood Florida a cottage on Grandview Ave point Shirley and a cabin cruiser. He only graduated the 8th grade.
