NASA posted the Artemis II raws this week

Yes, the NEFs from the D5s and Z9 the crew were using in the cabin.

They are here: https://pds-imaging.jpl.nasa.gov/tools/atlas/archive-explorer?mission=artemis2&bundle=artemis2_crew_camera&pds=4&uri=atlas:pds4:artemis2:artemis2:/artemis2_crew_camera/data_source

Some info on the dataset is here https://pds-geosciences.wustl.edu/missions/artemis2/index.htm

Most of the iconic stuff is at the top of the "fd06" folder, but there is some fun stuff throughout the archives, like bracketed sets of the far side of the moon. If you wanted to see how the images looked with your personal processing, here are the files to play around with!

Hue/Nanoleaf integration FAQ is up

Shoutout to HueBlog and his comment section for finding this https://hueblog.com/2026/08/28/nanoleaf-panels-work-like-gradient-light-strips/

Looks like the Hue/Nanoleaf thing is...a Hue controller for Shapes panels! Not clear if this is a supplement to the regular Shapes controller or a complete replacement. The product renders and the "what you'll need section" imply the Shapes controller is unnecessary. But the section about Hue automations/alerts overriding Nanoleaf effects implies you can connect both the Hue module and a normal Shapes controller and commanding one of them just makes it steal the array from the other one.

Once installed, it makes your array act like a Hue gradient product. Curious how it determines the start/end point, since Hue gradient is at least currently 1D, not 2D. A Festavia Curtain product is apparently coming too though, so maybe 2D addressable features are coming, or at least some sort of better adaption on 1D gradients.

Atm it's not clear what happens if you connect this module to an Elements array, or if that even works at all. Elements are notably not mentioned in the supported hardware options, only the 3 Shapes panels. Elements and Shapes share a controller architecture and AFAIK technically support mixed arrays of Shapes/Elements panels (I own both but have never bothered to try mixing them). So in theory it should be possible. But the module would need some extra firmware to deal with Elements having dual white and corner-addressability, but no RGB. They might not have done that. Maybe they did though, or maybe it will work in a future update?

In any case, I'm super curious to try this. I've had a Shapes array in an otherwise Hue setup in the main room of my apartment for years now. So used to the Shapes being a separate accent piece I gotta figure out how to integrate it lol (I'll probably give them their own zone, esp because they don't look good with white light).

Mt St Helens sunset+moonrise

Was out visiting my favorite volcano yesterday, happened to catch the moon coming up as I was heading home. This is from the Castle Lake viewpoint along WA-504 (named for the lake in the bottom right). The view here is from northwest of the mountain, looking kinda into the crater

Space Cabin

A small, cheap, but comfy-enough cabin on a spaceship, somewhere out beyond Neptune. Kinda started as an amalgamation of the things I look for in hotel room listings when planning solo trips 😆

This piece has been sitting on my hard drive in various states of completion for years now. Still really dislike some parts (I hate the room door, but don't have any better ideas), but also kinda amazed I got a finished product I'm mostly happy with?

Anyway, here it is. I finished it! I hope you all enjoy!

Zodiacal Light

Entirely procedural world shader! No images and no geometry! Fun little doodle for this evening. Sadly Reddit still lacks support for HDR images so it's a little dimmer for you all. You all should bother the admins about HDR support for still images!

Fun fact: due to this image being OOPS ALL GRADIENTS, it will band differently on each display it renders on and each time its compressed!
