Hi!

I have inherited an old hi-fi set from my late dad. I remember him listening to a lot when I was a kid then later put it away and it was not in use for a long time. The set includes:

tt120 turntable

sd230 cassette player

tt310 radio

pm230 amplifier

HD 460 speakers

the amp and radio works fine, I have even managed to connect the amp to my computer so can use it that way for now. However I would really like to listen to my dads old cassettes and vinyls. The cassette player needs to have the belts replaced as they have basically disintegrated, I think that I can do easily enough but I am at a loss for the turntable. It turns on and the disk is turning but I remember my dad saying that the reason he put it away was that the needle was broken. I see so many options for a replacement needle that I am at aloss, what could be a good one for me to get And do you know of any videos or texts explaining how exactly to replace it?

Also: is it possible to open up the speakers? They work fine but when moving them I heard something moving inside sounded like a small piece of metal. I am wondering if I should get that checked out too.

Hi all!

I am organizing a Saxophone day at my local music school for next year. There will be masterclasses, workshops and a concert by the teaching professors as the closing event. However I had a thought that it could also be a fun thing to make something where the students can play together. For that I would need a relatively easy piece that could work with little rehearsal and the students just learning their parts with their teachers at home. Something that works why mostly alto saxophones as I doubt they will have anything else altough the teachers can help out with the other parts. Thank you in advance for any suggestions you have!

I am using dark roasts as I love the italian style espressos (I prefer to use my aeropress for specialty) I also have a Baratza encore ESP grinder. For now I tried using 14 g of coffee, at first I was too fine I think because I got about 12 bars of pressure, but somehow the flow was still very fast. I got 24-25g out in about 16seconds. So I tried going coarser but now I have a lot of channeling issues, my bottomles portafilter is spritzing everywhere and the coffee tastes really harsh. Im using a WDT and a self leveling tamp. I would ike to get something close like those smooth chocolatey drinks I had in Italy. I also have a problem with my drinks not having that thick espresso texture, they are more thin and watery. Can anyone help me with a recipe, and whatto do differently? Thank you in advance.

Hi all!

I have an opportunity to play Glazunov's Concerto with an orchestra. I was wondering what others think of the different cadenzas available. As of now I am practicing with the original one. Some are really not fitting into the style in my opinion, I only want to play another version if its clearly an improvement, if I had a little more time I would even think of writing my own. So, what are you opinions? I welcome any possible suggestions as well, thank you in advance!

Hey, just going through a rough patch, just looking to see if there are any others in my situation (probably, its a pretty unforgiving scene). Im 30 and altough I keep practicing and think I have the skills I just cant seem to get where I want, not enough concerts not enough gigs and I just failed a grant application. It will probably get better but it would be nice to chat with some people who are in the same shoes.
