Went up a couple mountains yesterday and today. Feels good. Charged back in town. 43+MPG up to ~5,000’ and back to 120’. NorCal.
I’m looking to drain/fill my CVT soon, but am having trouble getting shops or even the dealership to listen to the fluid requirements.
There are two independent Subaru shops in my area. The first argued all Crosstreks have the same CVTf, which is incorrect. The second was more of a performance shop and said they had the right fluid because they work on BRZ. They did the rest of the 60k work, but not the CVTf because they actually didn’t have the right fluid.
Subaru only sells Subaru ATF-WS (SOA427V1300) in 5 gallon buckets for ~$375. Dealership doesn’t have any on hand, or even in their shop, but they’ll bill $625 for a drain and fill (with what, then?).
Best I can tell, Subaru ATF-WS (SOA427V1300) and Toyota 00289-ATF WS are the same fluid.
BRZ/FRS/GT-86 are the same Toyota transmission, my Crosstrek PHEV eCVT is a Toyota Camry Hybrid unit in a Subaru case.
TL;DR can’t I just pick up and use a few quarts of Toyota ATF-WS?
Shelter Cove to Fort Bragg, CA via USAL road and Highway 1. +/- 25 miles of logging road through a redwood forest. It found a few pennies to look at.
Heyo, we’re staying in Redding tonight, and would like to watch the México/Korea match soon. We’re downtown.
Any/best fun bars or similar to watch?
I’ve driven a number of forest roads, but I’ve been wanting to do some light trails for awhile and had a chance yesterday.
First time crossing any kind of water, first time running the bumper into a berm.
Was able to do the watery parts in EV mode, not that the water was anywhere near the intake.
Glad to have photos and videos to learn from. Was a gorgeous day.
