Wearable breast pump question

Hi, i currently use Philips avent and medela solo, both electric but not wearable. I want to buy a wearable pump for easy pumping - which i can also carry around, pump in the car, at work eventually, etc. i was considering momcozy s12 pro or promom neo (open to other suggestions as well).

Question is, my breasts have gotten significantly larger post pregnancy. I now use a 38C bra - will this wearable pump fit inside? Will i be able to use it even? My sister, who has much bigger breasts than this, said that she couldn't use a wearable pump postpartum because of the size of her breasts.

Is there any particular model/brand that would work for me? TIA :)

Bottle use?

Hi, i have a 9 week old, who has been combo fed since day one. Recently during her checkup, i asked her pediatrician if we can start introducing the bottle for her feeds (Currently, she drinks formula with a Pallada and breastfeeding through nipple shield). The doctor was not supportive at all, and said completely avoid the bottle.

I was not sure why the resistance? Is it because of nipple confusion? Are there any other long term effects to giving the bottle? We thought it would be convenient when we go out etc, but if it's going to be an issue in the future we'll find a workaround.

My 8 week old fell from the pillow on to the mattress

Placed my 8 week old on top of 2 pillows (not very fluffy ones) to feed. She was fully swaddled. I just turned for one second to get my nipple shield and this one rolled off, on to the mattress. She cried for 2 seconds, i picked her up immediately, and started feeding her since that was what we were going to do. She has been feeding fine, crying fine (she usually screams bloody murder of i unlatch during feeds - which she did as per usual), responding as per always, etc. But i am terrified. I was alone in the room and my husband had just gone to sleep downstairs after looking after her for most of the night.

Please tell me she is ok? The mattress is soft, she was swaddled so extra cushioning. She just rolled off from the pillow 😔 i am so so so so scared.

Online therapy?

Hi, as the title suggests - looking for tried and tested therapists. I don't want to talk to a Gen Z in their 20's. I would like someone who's at least late 30s and above, has some life and counseling experience. Everywhere I search, i find 20 somethings and I'm not comfortable talking therapy from someone way younger and with much lesser life experience. :)

I feel like my mental health is going for a toss - pregnancy happened after several years of fertility treatments, i lost my dad in between, gave birth to a beautiful baby girl a few weeks ago - i thought this was it and things will be better now. But breastfeeding is a whole new kind of hell. I feel withdrawn, isolated (postpartum is lonely even with a full house). On top of it, my job seems to be in trouble as the company is going through mass layoffs and it's triggering more anxiety.

I just want to unburden and preferably fix some relationships (my mom mainly - i fight with her at every conversation and we can't seem to find any common ground!) i realise I'm being an absolute bitch, but i am just so .. i don't know what!

Any recommendation would be helpful. LO is less than 2 months so online would work best for now

Thank you!

Witching hour??

My baby is 5.5 weeks old. The first 2 weeks, she barely woke up for feeds even at night, and slept immediately after. Since the 3rd week, she's been crying bloody murder and cluster feeding between say 1 am and 6 am. I thought it's a growth spurt, but it's been nearly 4 weeks now. She feeds around 10-11 pm and goes to sleep, and once she's up, i feed her, burp her, give her a formula top up feed (she was born low birth weight so we have to give her formula top up after every breast feed), burp her again, change diaper - everything. Then she wants a comfort feed, which is not really a short comfort feed. She just wants to go on and on, even though she's clearly had too much and is spitting up multiple times. The moment i unlatch her, she SCREAMS.

She will only go to sleep past 5 or 6 am, by which she's tired, we're all tired, it's exhausting. Basically she skips one entire block of nap time.

What is this and how long will this last? 😔

Polio drops

Is it common to have side effects of irritability from pulse polio vaccine? My LO (18 days old) got her first pulse polio drops this evening and since then (been about 5 hours now) she's been crying non stop, cluster feeding non stop, and just very very uncomfortable. She's sleepy but she's not able to actually sleep.

Is this a side effect? How long will this last?

Postpartum headaches

Hi, anyone dealt with bad PP headaches? I have BP issues for the past 6 years and it has been under control throughout my pregnancy. I'm not 10 days PP. After delivery, my medication dosage was increased dramatically to support PP. I used to get on and off headaches in the last 10 days (temples, behind eyes, base of the neck) but it went off with some sleep and lying down.

Today, my OB changed my BP medication back to what it was pre-delivery and i have a bad headache. When i checked with her, she asked me to take paracetamol for now, go back to high dosage BP meds. And if the pain doesn't come down, she's saying I'll need to get a break MRI?!!

I am shitting my pants right now! Has anyone else dealt with PP headaches? Has it gotten better?

I don't know what's happening?

Just gave birth to a beautiful baby girl 4 days ago at 6 years of infertility. She's a blessing.

I, however, thought I'll be smitten instantly and not want to leave her alone for a second. Instead, between all this c section pain and soreness and my anxiety and God knows what (hormone crash?) i haven't even held her up once. I love her, of course i do, but my husband has been doing all the work - feeding formula (my milk just started coming in today, and slow - so I try to get her to suck for a while and hand her over to him) diaper changes, swaddles, putting her to sleep, everything. I feel detached. But i do know i love her to no end. I don't know what is happening? I am so anxious, i can't sleep properly, if i lie down flat i feel like I'm having palpitations.

We are going home from the hospital today and that's adding extra layers of anxiety even though we have a great family waiting and i know we'll all be well taken care of.

Is this PPD? Is this the hormone crash? When will I be ok?

Old fears resurfacing

I'm currently 37 weeks, and very grateful to have made it this far. But the journey hasn't been smooth and i have certainly not celebrated/enjoyed the pregnancy as I wanted to .

Background:

At 12 weeks, baby was diagnosed with Arsa (isolated). The sonographer said since it's isolated is ok, get an NIPT. Results came back low risk (this NIPT was without microdeletions). Euploid embryo. Doc was satisfied.

At 16 weeks early anomaly scan, they found that my placenta had already started forming lakes and the baby's growth was about 5 days behind, 23rd percentile. They said "it might catch up, let's see"

20 weeks anomaly scan- baby was in the 5th percentile. This was when met an MFM - she threw around the big words - possible single gene disorder, possible Di George syndrome (because there was arsa + small baby). Offered amniocentesis, we refused. Mainly because it took us multiple transfers and many years to get a positive pregnancy test, we didn't want to risk it.

By 25th week, we had changed the sonographer - baby was measuring at 3rd percentile. This one also mentioned the possibility of chromosome issues, but considering i have been hypertensive since 6 years, she said maternal BP always contributes to slower growth so it could be that as well. She was calm, she said don't worry about Arsa, baby looks structurally normal.

Since then (25-37)! Baby has been maintaining 3rd percentile growth overall. Recently, the AC reduced to 7th percentile whole HC and BPD were at 30+.

FL has always been between 2-5 percentile.

She seemed ok, considering the growth has been maintained at the same pace and the dopplers have been good.

Now, I'm having a planned c-section tomorrow, and since the last few days, all these words are coming back and eating me. Microdeletions, chromosome issues, DiGeorge, single gene disorder, etc etc.

I'm extremely stressed, i know i should be grateful that we made this far (at one point, we were looking at delivering before 28 weeks!) but i can't shake this fear off. I'm also scared of the surgery itself, as I'm very claustrophobic and anxious.

Sorry for the rant. If there is anything that can reaasure me, please tell me.

IUGR near term vs Normal growth preterm baby

Between a near term iugr baby (37 weeks, 2 kg or 4.4 pounds) and a pre term but normal growth baby (32-33 weeks, 2 kg) - which one is healthier and has a shorter NICU stay?

I always thought it would be the near term baby because even if it's small with low birth weight, it has spent 37 weeks in the womb and has had a chance for the organs to mature.

But today, i was told by someone that I'm wrong and the 32 week 2 kg baby is the stronger one of the two.

What is the right answer?

Bangalore hospital recommendation - Rangadore vs Ovum Banashankari

Hi all,

Looking for any suggestion based on experience:

Between Rangadore and Ovum hospital Banashankari, which one would be preferable for child birth with a possible Nicu stay?

My doctor has given these 2 options, the costs are pretty much similar to each other.

My main concern is - good neonatologist, competent nicu + staff, after delivery care, and mainly - i don't want someone who will not prolong the NICU stay or put the baby through unnecessary procedures.

Any experience to be shared, or any advice, would be helpful. Thanks!

Essentials for a LBW/FGR baby

Hi, first time on this sub. I'm due in a couple of weeks (FTM) and my baby has growth restriction (therefore will be low birth weight). Basically, it'll be a tinier version of a tiny human :)

Anyone with any experience dealing with this? We will have a nanny for the first 3 months.

What kind of crib, car seat etc should i look for? Will the baby even sleep in a crib?

Any reliable place to get pre loved baby furniture?

What are some of the other necessities that i should have within the first couple of weeks?

Thank you from an excited but very very very nervous mom to be!

Can someone help me understand thambila and kola difference

Today, someone asked me the difference between thambila and kola. I have attended both as a kid but i completely blanked out! All i remembered was thambila was during the day and kola at night.

Can someone please explain the actual difference? I don't remember there being a patri during thambila..

But it's been so long (over 20-25 years) that I can't trust my memory. Appreciate any details that will help me to explain :) Thanks!

High resistance umbilical artery PI

PS before someone deletes this post: Not looking for medical advice, experiences only.

I am at 33+3 with an FGR baby (IVF pregnancy, baby measures at 3rd percentile, ~1.5 kg). I used to have fortnightly dopplers and fetal echo since 24 weeks and though there was FGR, interval growth has been maintained and dopplers were all ok.

Today, my Umblical artery PI came at 98% (1.34) with a high BP reading (150/80). I am chronic hypertensive but my BP has been well under control the entire pregnancy. My doctor said we'll check BP again in 2 days, and if it comes down, we can wait for another doppler next week (I'll be 34+3 then) and take a call at that time. However, if the BP is still high, we'll have to deliver by this weekend!!

I'm not ready for this at all 😞 i do feel fairly confident that BP will come down in 2 days (it was at 130/78 by the time i left my doctor's clinic - barely an hour after all this happened!)

just want to hear some experiences :

  1. At 98% UA PI, how much longer can i expect to keep bub inside before delivery becomes imminent?

  2. At 33-34 weeks (i know this is late pre term) but with FGR in the picture, what should I expect? Ive had a full course of steroids at 26 weeks and I'll get a rescue shot before delivery.

I was just hoping this baby would stay in until 36w at least and get closer to 2kg before making an appearance 😔 but these new dopplers are scaring the hell out of me!

Please share your experiences, so I'll feel more prepared. Thank you!
