Whats the hardest part of launching your first app - building or marketing?

I used to think shipping was the finish line spent months on the product got it to a point I was proud of then launch day came and I just heard silence 😭 turns out building was the easy part. Nobody tells you that distribution is a completely different skill set.

For people who've launched what actually got you your first 100 downloads?

LDR couples, what's the hardest part of maintaining connection d2d?

Been long distance for a while now and lately I've been thinking about what actually makes it harder than it needs to be. Curious what others experience too.

Is it timezone differences? Running out of things to do together virtually? Planning visits? Just feeling disconnected between calls?

What's your biggest struggle?

LDR couples - what's the one thing that makes distance feel hardest d2d life?

My partner and I have been long distance for 1 year and I keep running into the same frustrations. I'm actually building a small app to help couples like us but before I go further I want to make sure I'm solving real problems not just my own.

What do you genuinely struggle with? Timezone coordination? Feeling disconnected between calls? Planning visits? Keeping things feeling alive?

Drop your biggest pain point below and I'll read every single one.

Does social media marketing actually work for a brand new app with zero followers?

Genuinely curious about this. Everyone says "build your audience before you launch" but what if you don't have an audience yet?

I see two types of advice online:

  • first type says post consistently, engage daily, grow organically and by launch day you'll have people waiting.
  • second type says social media is dead for organic reach, algorithms bury new accounts, and you're wasting time unless you pay for ads.

I'm building my first iOS app right now and trying to figure out where to actually put my energy before launch.

Has anyone here actually grown an audience from zero and converted them into real users? or did you launch and figure out marketing after?

what actually worked for you? 👇

Why do most iOS scanner apps still require sign up just to scan a document?

Genuinely curious - I use scanner apps pretty regularly and they all seem to have the same issues.

The ones that bother me most:

  • Forced sign up before you can even try the app
  • Slow and blurry scans
  • Uploads your files somewhere without being obvious about it
  • Basic features locked behind a subscription
  • UI that looks like it was designed in 2012

What actually bothers you? Is there something you wish a scanner app would just do properly without all the nonsense?

Asking because I genuinely want to understand what people actually need from a scanner app?
