Lights

I'm gearing up for my first build of the Enterprise D, and I've never lit a model before. I've studied the YouTube videos and read a lot of information. I want to use a 12-volt power supply, and I want to control everything with the TTP223 capacitive touch sensor button. I also got the IRFZ44N MOSFET in order to bridge the gap. I see a lot of videos with people adding capacitors. Is this just for controlling the power output for dim to bright? Do I need to add a capacitor if I'm just looking for on/off?

When I try to look up "model lighting," it's not what I'm looking for. Is there a recommended community, or can I post lighting questions here?

Picard 3 the Enterprise D

I, for one, am not one for being picky. I absolutely loved seeing the Enterprise D back in action and am in no way, shape, or form upset with this thought. While in the heat of battle, it never occurred to me that the only people on that ship were all on the bridge. So, aside from the obvious (it's a show and who cares), why wasn't every window dark except for the bridge? Why all the random lights throughout the entire ship? I guess maybe hallways from whatever entry point or transporter room they arrived from, but I'm sure no one said, "Computer, light some of the ship but not all of the ship." I've probably watched the end of this episode 15 times before it dawned on me.

Metal Earth B-17 Flying Fortress

So this is the first one of these I've put together. These little things definitely have their challenges. I feel like I need a little glue of some sort. The instructions say needle-nose pliers (recommended). I feel like that should be a need, not a recommendation. A few other things I learned: a good magnifying glass would be helpful. Tweezers or smaller, less fumbling fingers. The instructions show a generic tube to bend the round areas, very vague on diameter (by vague I mean nonexistent). All in all, it was a fun little model build. It's rough, but I think a little practice could make it better.

As we get closer to space travel in reality, when we start building ships in a space dock in orbit, what do you think the ships we build will look like? Have we ingrained enough Star Trek in life that the ships would have a Starfleet feel to them? I'm sure the warp nacelles aren't needed, but I could see the rest. Or would we just be all bland and make long naval ships similar to what we see in the water? Or maybe the engineer might be more of a Star Wars fan and go that route. I guess the big question is, would we as a whole let fantasy influence our "starships" or just build boring space submarines?

Unless the group here knows where to find one that I can't, the only USS Vengeance I can find is the Eaglemoss prebuilt model. If there isn't one already out there, do you think there are enough people interested in that ship for them to build a model kit, or will we never see the USS Vengeance unless we kitbash one together?
