Hohg this took a long while. On and off for a bit over a month, a far cry from the quickbuild that the Y-Wing was. But it was definitely great practice! Pretty happy with how it turned out. Detailed with a mix of waterslides & hand painting with a simple wash. Vader's TIE Advanced is next!
Hi,
62 old starting modelling again after 40 years, bought these Star Wars models and was thinking doing custom paints, saw some beautiful models here with "non official color shemes" and thinking going this way, sorry for the die hard S.W fans 🤗
Not at all happy with it but you can see where I'm going with it. There's another x wing to add and im still painting the trench run.
This is one of the first things that I built when I started the hobby. I downloaded the model from Gambody and 3d printed (FDM) the whole thing. It took a lot of sanding and filling to make it as smooth as a scale model. I cut out the windscreen from a sheet of acetate. The decals were left over from an abandoned F-16 project that I failed to assemble. I also made a small sticker stencil for the serial number with my Cricut Joy.
In the end, I love how it turned out and I'm really proud of myself for building something this nice, so early in this hobby, only a couple of months after I started the whole thing. I hope you enjoy it as well. This gave me a lot of courage to carry on and now I spend my entire free time in the garage, making stuff.
I built this moon-hopper completly from scratch.
Starting with the doors from two chewing-gum-boxes and a half of a transparent acrylic ball.
On the PC I draw some templates for tge fuselage and build it with grey cardboard. The Cockpit equipment and the hedges are bricks.
A few cables and Stickers made it complete.
Not sure if it counts, but here it is anyway. Easy, fun little build. Found it on Prime Day for $10.00. It's an Advent calendar by Countdown Characters. Comes in 24 pieces (one per day). I did not wait that long.
I have been planning to build an X-Wing for so long and I wanted to 3d print it at first. All the better models I found were not suitable for FDM printing and I thought SLA printing would take so much time with my smaller printer. So I decided to go for a scale model instead.
I opted for a 1/57 scale and this Revell model was on sale. I didn't want to bother with building an authentic one from the series because I don't want to fixate on copying the actual thing. So I just took a look at my paints went for this light gray and blue color scheme. It turned out nice enough. The current heatwave prevents me from spending too much time in the garage so I couldn't take it a step further with decals, therefore it looks a bit basic at this point unfortunately.
The scale model itself is ok. It's more or less a no glue model and you just click parts together. The fit is not the best, there are some gaps that needs filling but more experienced modelers will make a better work than I did.
It didn't come with a stand and I really wanted to display it with the wings open. So I fired up Fusion 360 and modeled myself a display stand. I'm very satisfied with how it looks. In case anyone wants to download the stand and 3d print it, here is a free link:

Un-enhanced version of a diorama. A mission to Mars finds vaguely familiar remnants of a stone structure. Background is mountains in The Badlands. Scratch built model and photo by Jim Crompton
I looked at screenshots of the House Atreides ornithopter and it was fairly clean. So I did a simple paint job on it.
New to modelling, Haven’t done any bandai kits, but this 30mm Roundnova1 spoke to me.
I found some deadstock fighter jet decals in the hobby shop bargain bin and worked it into the storytelling.
Going for an alternate history scout/defense mech left out in the woods of Georgia, out on a perpetual patrol.
I recently finished modeling and painting the work table from the Narkina 5 prison in Andor Season 1 where they were making the fasteners for the Death Star.
I am using the One Way Out conversion kit from Landspeeder Luke for the figures, though I have not finished painting mine yet (Last pic).
A little diorama partially inspired by the art work of Chris Foss showing a long derelict spacecraft crashed in a swamp
A diorama photo made using a scratch built Mars lander model set down next to a little megalith structure. The picture was greatly enhanced by a friend. The base was made of sand and fine pieces of gravel. I thought this was worth sharing. Model work and orginal photo by Jim Crompton.
No printed bits involved, metal parts added. Feels damn nice, good weight and its still functional!
My build of the area 51 UFO model modified with a rounded top dome and lights. Background is Bryce Canyon national Park.
I am a big stargate fan and with the future of the show uncertain at the moment I wanted to print a few ships in support of it. I printed a Ha'tak and the Daedalus. Really happy with the colors on the Ha'tak
