Heat Wave

Call me whatever yall want in the comments, but to the brothers and sisters out there, please stay hydrated.

Even if you don't feel thirsty, stay hydrated. We are seeing temperatures in the triple digits. I don't want to see another message saying one of us suffered a cardiac arrest or had a heat stroke.

Skip the suggary drinks and go for the electrolyte rich drinks instead.

Stay Safe out there and watch out for your partners as well.

Sanitation Worker Exam

Unfortunately/fortunately, however one sees it, the S/W exam will not be offered this FY26-27 cycle. The earliest it may be offered is FY 27-28, which would make sense as the current Exam 2060 expires Feb 2028.

Academy Classes

I'm not trying to scare anyone, but the number of classes and amount of recruits per class after this July class, it isn't looking too good. Especially with the new passing of this 2026-2027 budget. They are saying that this new budget does not include any allocation for increased headcount.

Procurement Analyst

Good Afternoon,

Has anyone else took Procurement Analyst Exam #6088? My question is how soon one can expect to be called? I know it can take potential years. My list is in the 6xx. There's like a total of 786 on the list.

Academy Class Size

July class, congratulations on making the cut. From what I'm hearing, there will be an August or September class, and it'll have all those 8-1k recruits. After August, though, I'm hearing that the classes will have fewer recruits per class. Can anyone confirm or deny it? I know with NYPD, everything is tentative, but still.

Matching Job Offer Pay

Good Morning,

My question is directed to individuals and HR personnel alike. If I have a job offer from an agency for a community title and it's for compensation above that of new hire rate, would I be able to bring that to another agency offering the same title and see if they can match? Or is it just up to the agency and budgeting?

NYC Metro Agencies

Looking for different agencies to apply to in the metro area. My residence is in Brooklyn. I know some agencies in Westchester, and others don't accept Brooklyn residents. NYPD is definitely on the list, but just trying to see what else is there. City, state, and federal. Thanks.

MBA+MPH

Good Evening,

I'm currently in the process of getting a MBA and was thinking whether or not getting a MPH as well would help in regards to moving up the ranks in city government. So I would have both a MBA and a MPH plus whatever experience in city government I have by then. Please advise as I don't want to go into an endeavor if it doesn't benefit me in the long run.

DCAS SCHEDULE

The new DCAS schedule will be released in July of this year, tenatively speaking. I'm looking forward to at least one staff analyst title. Please commnet below what you're looking for. Good luck to all. Also, Mamdani has balanced the budget, so it is potentially smooth sailing ahead.

This is just a PSA to those that area applying and getting interviews and offers, etc. People who are in the process of being hired and getting a start date.

  1. Every agency is different

  2. Never quit your job just after receiving a conditional job offer

  3. Apply to other places whilst waiting for either results or even when an offer has been received

  4. This current fiscal cycle is coming to an end very soon

Some agencies secure funding before posting a job listing. Some try to secure funding after they have candidates and don't reach out to candidates before that funding is approved. Some agencies will interview, give you an offer, and then request approval. If you are lucky, then you'll get one of those positions that are already funded, and you get onboard pretty quickly. Pretty much any combo of these or slight variation.

Good Luck to all and Best Wishes in your job search.

Good afternoon,

Will a Masters of Public Health (MPH) from Western Governor's University (WGU) be accredited enough to get a City Research Scientist position?

Thanks.
