Do I really have to list all my previous jobs

I’m applying for a CUNY position I got a conditional offer for. For both the cuny onboarding paperwork and service test I’m putting the same 4 jobs I had on my resume. I just used 4 to keep my resume one page but I really had 8 jobs since college. 3 of which were short stints like 5 months and a job I was at for one year.

NYCT MTA 70/30 sick rule

Fellow transit workers I had a question regarding this policy. What do they exactly mean by 70/30 sick leave list? I don't exactly understand how they determine who falls in what category and where would you even find that?

Has anyone taken legal action against NYCE PPO for unjustly denying their claims?

Hello everyone, new account, so I don't post personal details on my main one. But I have a severe physical disability, and I get my health insurance through my dad, who was in the FDNY. The new NYCE PPO has fully denied me my nursing services I've had since I was two, and it has been proven necessary. It's been a month now, and I've been getting pretty sick from not having my services, and they have denied my appeal. I'm working on an external appeal, but I'm tired of this and need to take action against them, and it's unacceptable that they can do this.

From other people I know and posts I've seen online, this seems to be a widespread issue. Is there any precedent for taking legal action against them? What is happening is insane.

Do I really have to live in NYC?

Ive been homeless for about 7 months and working for the department of health for 2 years. Im also disabled and tried everything to get a home with no luck. I have an emotional support animal that apparently isnt allowed in city shelters and I will be on the street again while working and trying everything im my power to get a home. The lottery and other apartment resources have failed. The city has failed. I want to move to a nearby state but I know one of the rules is to have residency in NYC to work for my department. Is there any way around this?

How to check salary on DEP offer

I received an offer from the DEP but I was told two different salaries by two different people on the phone. I got approved by OMB recently and wanted to know if they will send out an official offer letter with the salary on it. I have submitted all the necessary paperwork before the approval so im worried they wont send an official offer letter.

1127 Money Owed Letter

Anyone else who lives out of state get a letter stating that they now owe money or are getting less of a refund on their 1127 filing? Apparently this is due to STAR credit eligibility and has been a thing since 2016 but they decided just now to notice it. They seem to only care about collecting this year and nothing in the past. Accountant software doesn’t even account for this rule. Something seems…off about this?

Normal NYC agency policy??

I worked for a city agency for 2 years. I left due to moving out of state. I worked my last week of work in mid April, I still have not received my last check. It’s going on the 3rd pay period since I’ve left. I’ve emailed about it since the first passing pay period where I didn’t receive it and HR is stating it needs to be reviewed before approval…..why? I don’t have time to be paid out etc.

How does temporarily being in a new pension contribution bracket work

I’m making enough money this year through extra summer work that I think it’ll put me into a new pension contribution rate bracket (I’m tier 6) but I don’t expect to make beyond that threshold next year.

Will the higher rate kick in this summer bc they’ll be able to know my total for the year will exceed the threshold? Will that last just for the remainder of this year and then go back to my old rate next year?

Job offers question

Hi all, I’m in a bit of a situation and haven’t been able to get clear answers, I accepted a position conditionally and signed the offer letter, however I just heard back from a position that’s more aligned with what I want to do and plan to accept that offer, both are within the same agency, how do I proceed? Should I email the other position to rescind my application and paperwork? would HR flag that I already have an offer in place?

Any guidance is helpful!

Early Retirement Penalty

New York Tier 6 discussion question: has anyone heard serious talk about reducing the early retirement penalty?

I’m far away from 30 years of service, so I’m not really focused on the proposed 30-year retirement changes. I already understand there will always be an early retirement reduction if I retire before full retirement age. What I’m wondering is whether there has been any discussion specifically about making the penalty less severe for Tier 6 members who choose to retire early.

Thank you.

Provisional employee for decades? Advice needed

I'm trying to seek answers for my father. He began working for the city in the mid 80s, and left city employment on workers comp back in 2015, but never officially retired due to injury and mourning the sudden loss of his wife, my mother. I know it's been a long time, but I'm doing my best to help him finally close out that painful chapter of his life.

I spoke with NYCERS about this and they have him still listed as in service (he never officially retired as I said), but they also told me that oddly enough, he's not eligible for a pension because he only has 3 years vested, despite 30 years of service. When I asked how this was possible they told me that he had been provisional for the majority of that time, up until 2012. Somehow, despite holding many supervisory titles, my father was apparently a provisional employee for around 25 years. How is this possible? NYCERS said there was nothing to be done about this other than for him to request a refund of his contributions, but I can't in good faith just say "oh well!" and leave it at that.

Has anyone been in this type of situation? How is it even legal for someone to be provisional for 25 years when the limit according to city laws is supposedly 9 months? Looking for any guidance or advice with fighting this for my dad - he deserves better. Should he have followed up on this years ago? Absolutely. Grief does strange things to a person. He has become dejected about the whole thing but I'm not giving up just yet.

How big does networking with people play a part within working in the city?

like are these roles that’s being posted on the same nycjobs website really fair game or do internal candidates really have a huge advantage over people to applying of the street?

Better yet do people just get their buddies into these roles a lot of the time?

I mainly wondering for the IT positions but I’m open to all answers.
