I'm making a fibreglass mould off an ABS bike tank cover (using it as the plug). From what I've read, polyester gelcoat is risky here because the styrene attacks the ABS and leaves an alligatored surface. Epoxy gelcoat is supposed to avoid that.
My question is about mixing systems: can I lay an epoxy gelcoat as the mould surface, then back it up with iso-polyester resin + fibreglass for the structural layers? Will I get proper adhesion at the epoxy-gelcoat / polyester-backing interface, or will it delaminate?
Using epoxy resin for the whole backing is too expensive, so I'm hoping to only spend on epoxy for the thin gelcoat layer. Has anyone actually run this combination? Diagram attached for clarity
I have used ai generated image for better understanding
This was my first resin infusion part, I did this mudguard for scrambler 400x

The quality of the part has come out good, barring a few issues with the mould.
I didn't use release agent and only used mould release wax and it was an easy release
Do I really have to use mould release agent to increase the longevity of the mould, the mould already has some rough texture on it

Any other tips on better part finish would be appreciated
I have a 3d printer,
Between PLA, PETG and ABS.
I am trying to hand laminate a part, it has too much bubbles so there is a layer of visible bubbles on the part

I am in a country where I can't import from easy composites, what is the easy lease chemical release agent, what is it's alternatives
I already have PVA release agent
Which release agent should I apply on the mould?
Which release agent should I apply on the abs plug used to make the mould?
The part here is made out of ABS, its the mudguard from a triumph.
I tried making the mould out of this part, applied gelcoat for the first layer, then iso polyester resin and the gp resin, the iso and gp where applied on chopped fiberglass.
I also applied a lot of pva release agent (the blue visible in the mould), how do i avoid this in the future

I am a aerospace working in the composite division and with this have acquired a good knowledge on carbon fibre, hence in my free time. I started manufacturing carbon fibre parts for my bike (scrambler 400x). I have noticed carbon fibre being sold for a very high price in the west and eu market and this is because cf is labour intensive
But in our country since labour is cheap, i want to take advantage, so what is the process to export carbon fibre bike/car modification accesories like bonnet, seat cowl, spoilers etc.
Mind you that these will be handmade, the fabric is being imported from japan, can the members roast my idea, would it or would it not work out. Also how hard is it to export this, how to find a retailer who will sell this
I want to convert this business from making aftermarket CF auto parts to maybe partnering up with motorsports entities and the ultimate end goal is to cater to other industries especially drone and UAV field
