Daisy... putting up a load-bearing wall?

Daisy... putting up a load-bearing wall?

This is how I found her yesterday morning. She's either protesting (sulking) because I went to her 10 min later than schedule, or she's building herself a dog house. Not sure yet which...

I got fired on my first day as a Plumber's apprentice.

Wasn't completely my fault. Foreman told me to use the Sawz-all, not the Sawz-some!

Dude starts fluxing his PEX, and yells "next time try layin' off the pipe dope!! I'm sending you for a pee-trap test!"

....

(I know there's gotta be a million plumbing dadjoke references, somebody that knows plumbing chime in or finish this ...)

Badjoke

My son is helping me troubleshoot some Python code not working on my PC.

So we figured we better reload the software and I noticed that it's downloading Python ver 3.14.

"Oh version 3.14... guess maybe they should have called it *Pi-thon*" I said.

"Guess what -- they did!"

"No, I meant "P", "I" "thon"

you know, cuz it's ver 3.14"

Big sigh.

(I like to think it's because he's not a dad yet, but it's really just because its terrible)

I guess I *code* have done better for sure.

Hopefully my son learned from this. No matter how crappy a dadjoke is, its our duty to be persistent and capitalize on every opportunity.

As I'm teaching my son how to drive: "hey Dad, how come you don't drive with 10-and-2 on the wheel?"

"Son, before you start criticising don't forget that I *single-handedly* taught you how to drive!!"

My in-laws stopped over for the weekend. My Father-in-law forgot to pack deodorant, so my wife offers the choice of a deodorant and an antiperspirant, and asks "which one would you like?".. he looks, pauses, and replies " ummm"

I chimed in... "give him a minute, he's stinking about it!"

(Of course nobody except my father in law chuckled. :)

Boost pressure and spool-up question

Is the performance characteristics dependent on driving history, say like transmission shift points?

If I drive very aggressively (or easy) does that change when spool-up starts and how much boost is generated in the drives that follow?

Basement flooring installed over top a floor drain (P-trap sewer gas question)

A number of years ago, I had laminate flooring installed on my concrete basement floor (with dimpled air barrier under flooring). House was built in 2006 in Ontario. The flooring was installed over a floor drain which is a few feet from the (now bedroom) wall. The floor drain was not sealed off or properly abandoned in any way.

I'm concerned that this floor drain wasn't sealed off. So, wouldn't this p-trap dry out and evaporate over time, exposing my basement to sewer gas?

Also note, that there is another drain in the utility room, about 7ft or so from this (now bedroom) drain. This other one in the utility room is used by the furnace A/C drain, so sees water trickling in to keep the p-trap wet. Is there any possibility that these share a common p-trap? Is it possible the p-trap is designed yo stay flooded via some water supply?

I was out for a drive today with my 16 year old son, teaching him to drive.

He was describing to me how he's going to have a very high paying job and is going to buy a BMW or Porsche.

I cautioned him: "When you do make it big and have lots of money to buy a fancy car, please don't forget to take care of the poor..."

"Sh!" He immediately replied with a smirk, literally a split second afterwards.

I gave him a disapproving look, as I thought he was being disrespectful, only to realize he totally dadjoked me (poor-sche!).

Inspection mirror protector

I was tired of breaking my inspection mirrors. Then I found this mint candy cover that fits perfectly... this should be the last broken mirror!
