NAME THAT COCTEAUNE! - For Wednesday, August 19, 2026

THE RULES:

  1. I listen to a Cocteau Twins song
  2. I attempt to transcribe the lyrics WITHOUT ANY AID OF LINER NOTES OR LYRICS WEBSITES (foolish....I know)
  3. You reply with your guess as to what the song is.
  4. Multiple guesses are allowed! HOWEVER, if a multiple guesser gets the correct answer within the same minute as another Redditor who has yet to guessthe Redditor guessing the song on their first guess WINS. If multiple Redditors who have already lobbed guesses get the correct answer within the same minute time stamp on my notifications, the Redditor I'm notified of first wins.
  5. The winner gets….honestly…nothing. Except bragging rights, a celebratory GIF, and a link to the song of the day.

[NOTE: Any lyrics I perceive that either name a good portion of the song title or is just the song title in whole will be blocked out with *CENSORED*. Text shown in italics wrapped in parentheses are just my snarky asides, usually about my shitty hearing.]

Limited time once again. I have only eaten one 80 calorie bag of popcorn and drank three mugs of coffee all day despite going for a workout this morning. But this is a labor of love for me, so....

*spins wheel*

Where the Wheel of Cocteau stops? NO ONE KNOWS!

Ooh....something a bit more obscure. Good going, Wheel of Cocteau app! Hopefully, this will make for an actual challenge for you all. I haven't had the pleasure to respond to anyone with a WRONG gif in a while.

-------------------------------

(starting from 1:29 in)

Francois

By and by

B.O. (I'm going with simply the two letters "B" followed by "O", like she's saying that this dude Francois has some bad body odor, though I almost thought at first she was singing, ICK, "pedo")

Just as *CENSORED* (second word in song title)

*CENSORED* (whole song title)

I'm pleased tonight is obese, oh (Odd way of describing a night. I'm not sure what an overweight night would entail.)

Francois

By and by

B.O.

That should be enough for you all to guess this one. It's a pretty repetitive some lyrically.

As always, I look forward to your guesses and snark.

I have limited time to get this one published, so let's SPIN!

*spins wheel*

Where the Wheel of Cocteau stops? NO ONE KNOWS!

Ooh...we haven't done that one in a while. This should be fairly easy since it name drops the title and pieces parts of the title fairly often in the lyrics. But, other than those references, let's if this song has anything else intelligible that can be picked up.

-------------------------------

(starting from 1:30 in)

Honey is halvah (two completely different sweet things, actually, but....yeah, why am I trying to make sense out of this?)

There's *CENSORED* (3rd and 4th words in the song title) in there

She's got your fool *CENSORED* (that 3rd word in the title again)

Honey is halvah (reminds me....I'm out of honey at home and greatly missed it in my breakfast yogurt parfait this morning. Maybe I should try adding halvah instead?)

There's *CENSORED* (3rd and 4th words in the song title) in there

She's got your fool *CENSORED* (that 3rd word in the title again...and shouldn't it be "fool's" not "fool"?)

She's got your fool *CENSORED* (that 3rd word in the title again)

And I'm out of time before I'm taken on a belated birthday lunch by my co-workers.

As always, I look forward to your guesses and snark.

WHOOPS. I straight up ghosted y'all on Friday. It was a busy day preparing for my busy weekend since it was my birthday on Saturday.

Hopefully, today's song challenge will be, just that, a challenge and get everyone in a great mood by putting a great song in your heads.

*spins wheel*

Where the Wheel of Cocteau stops? NO ONE KNOWS!

AND IT STOPS ON.....

That was done too recently.

*spins wheel again*

Also, done too recently (has my Wheel of Cocteau already proven to be a dud app?).

*spins wheel again*

Shit. That was literally almost the last song I posted before concocting this song randomization app.

*spins wheel again*

DAMN....another recently done tune.

*spins wheel again*

FIFTH TIME'S THE CHARM!

And unlike Thursday's tune, you won't have me complaining about this track being untranscribable, boring, or whispery.

Sorry, still got to take my digs at "Otterley". It's just not my jam.

-------------------------------

(starting from 1:16 in. Giving you the first line of this song would be a DEAD GIVEAWAY.)

A nose squealer (HUH)

A one-one blue (?!?!)

She's also a spoon-led

Went into vein (Ah! This song must be about smack. Like their homage to the Velvet Underground!)

Sunburst

And snowbl-

Sorry...but that is all I can give away since I think I already was too late and revealed too much.

As always, I look forward to your guesses and snark.

Before I get into today's song, I know many others who read this stream music. Does anyone else notice these odd tendencies with the AI deejay option on their service:

  • Around birthday time every year, they make sure to include "In Between Days" by The Cure in their setlist, so if you didn't wake up yesterday feeling like you could die because you've gotten so old, you just may consider it today
  • Oddly, they can pronounce COCTEAU TWINS just fine, but call the band that does "I Ran (So Far Away)" AFLAC OF SEAGULLS. Have they resorted to subliminal advertisements in music streaming because television ads with talking ducks weren't working?

Enough about AI entities. Onto today's song!

*spins wheel*

ROUND AND AROUND IT GOES!

Where the Wheel of Cocteau stops? NO ONE KNOWS!

AND IT STOPS ON.....

...well, I guess I should just go with what the randomizer picked for me. Many factors make this one a really WRONG selection, but I gotta roll with what my "Wheel of Cocteau" app chose for me, right? I may have to completely seclude myself to transcribe this one.

-------------------------------

(starting from 1:22 in)

Sill-coy (UGH....whispering AND gibberish. This is a transcriber's nightmare)

Suh-suh muh (I know "You've gotta be shitting me that THAT is what you hear" but, transcription-wise, this song is the worst)

Huuuuuhhhhh (It's a very loud exhale. A Gasp? Triumphant sigh from passing badly trapped gas?)

Sis a-will paw (By the way, I should note that there are seemingly long gaps between each of these verses, gasps, sighs, whatever you want to call these)

(then the following lines come in comparatively rapid fire fashion)

Shoo

Brother

Belize

Epoisse

Oh you, oh no  (or is it ONO as in Yoko?!?!)

During this song, you can also hear in the background what sounds like crashing waves, sparse guitar and bass, and NO PERCUSSION.

And, for my own sanity, that will be all I can transcribe today. If I had any sense, I would have removed that song as a possibility (including instrumentals) from the Wheel of Cocteau so it will NEVER BE CHOSEN AGAIN. I guess I'm just a masochist at heart.

As always, I look forward to your guesses and snark.

I randomly pulled up stats for the game and here is one that I particularly find interesting, borderline disturbing: out of 181 Name That Cocteaune posts, the RECORD is YOU GUYS 181, ME ZERO.

I cannot stump you guys, at all. I can't emphasize this enough. Either you all hear the same random syllables I hear, you all are living inside my brain, or I may actually be doing a halfway decent job of phoneticizing the sounds I hear coming from Liz Fraser's mouth.

OK....probably not the latter. But, definitely take a moment to collectively pat yourselves on the back.

Now back to daily Subredditing duties!

*spins wheel*

ROUND AND AROUND IT GOES!

Where the Wheel of Cocteau stops, NO ONE KNOWS!

AND IT STOPS ON.....

...a beloved, yet classically mocked lyrically, song.

-------------------------------

(starting from 2:54 in)

Olly olly fair, cuh tuh, cuh dee (either this track is fully one from the "gibberish year" or I have punctured ear drums and I just don't know it)

He cuh mah knee cah

Hedy cuh dare, huh tare, cuh dee

Henny mah knee cah

Hedy cuh dare, huh tare, cuh dee

Henny mah knee cah

Soma Cara Dee-ee-ee (I would jokingly say that this is some shout-out to model/actress/notorious party girl Cara Delevigne, but she didn't even exist at the time)

(Ignoring the HOKA POKA DONNA-MOCHA being sung in another vocal track....shit....did that just give this one away?!?!)

Kay knew a maddum cah

Soma Cara Dee-ee-ee

Yeah, y'all ain't getting a chorus because you should all know what track this is from the sheer mention of "Hoka poka donna mocha". If you don't, you should probably be banned from CocteauFest in SF, coming up in a little over one week!

As always, I look forward to your guesses and snark.

I am cramped for time, so let me just get this posted without my usual long-winded jibber-jabber.

*spins wheel*

ROUND AND AROUND IT GOES!

Where the Wheel of Cocteau stops, NO ONE KNOWS!

AND IT STOPS ON.....

...something again that hasn't been done....recently.

Taking this from the start of the second verse.

-------------------------------

Fairy food

Consume ahhh

Consume inside me

Unset my fangs (side note....I didn't have breakfast so this transcription may be food/eating tinged unconsciously)

McKellan stones

I feel stoned, up (after she was choking on a blunt?)

What now only to ground

When into head debt

CHORUS

Feelin' sore buns

Wheel back to you (been sitting in a wheel chair too long?)

When you

Seeing tour bus

Wheel back to you

When you

Will you

And, to extend my streak, I've once again transcribed something that looks like a word salad. Let's see if you all can extend your streaks of defeating me as you all OWN ME to this point (yep, haven't stump y'all even once).

As always, I look forward to your guesses and snark.

So, all this time, I've alluded to a "Wheel of Cocteau" that I "spin" when I need to pick the song of the day to transcribe. Previously, there was admittedly no actual wheel to randomly pick the songs, just hitting forward on Cocteau Twins playlist on a streaming platform then checking to see if next song in the queue had recently been used. Well, I'm happy to announce that I've finally created a little HTML program to randomly pick these songs....that is essentially an honest to goodness WHEEL OF COCTEAU. And it has all 142 tracks they've ever recorded (I'll eventually yank instrumental tracks form this thing), so we will most likely not run into problems like we have with certain songs somehow slipping through the cracks without ever being chosen once. Without further ado, let's take the official Wheel of Cocteaune on it's maiden voyage!

*spins wheel*

ROUND AND AROUND IT GOES!

Where the Wheel of Cocteau stops, NO ONE KNOWS!

AND IT STOPS ON.....

...and, if I do say so myself, it works like a charm. And I feel like my life has been made so much easier!

From the top!

-------------------------------

It's importing my li-i-ife (I wasn't aware a life was an internationally tradable commodity. Yep, probably my shit hearing again)

If you can't have me

You want me because you know

If you're not near

Next to anything

Inter masses ri-i-ife (????)

Oh in the sickness

A dowsing time to in honesty (I know....instead of creating a program to pick the song for you, you should come up with a program to transcribe these songs for you, because what you write down makes no sense)

If cally fee

In puny ee-ee-ah (in my defense, I'm no programmer and a song picker HTML program is MUCH EASIER to create than something accessing microphones on the computer, accessing AI to translate, etc.)

Nicoise (like Nicoise Salad....NEE-SWA....pronounced the French way. Not NEE-KOISE. Otherwise, Heather Vandergeld in "White Chicks" will mock you.)

No arms, too

And since this song has no chorus, I'm going to end this at these two verses. I think I may have finally got a stumper here so I'm expecting to come back at 2PM with a clue, possibly.

As always, I look forward to your guesses and snark.

Sorry for just ghosting this yesterday. Somebody forgot to pack earbuds with them so there was no way I was going to get any transcribing done. Hopefully, I can make it up to you all with a real banger today to fail miserably at transcribing.

By the way, working from home today, so I get the luxury of just PLAYING MUSIC ALOUD without distracting co-workers. This is going to be me just going off of what I hear through speakers.

So this will be extra disastrous.

*spins wheel*

ROUND AND AROUND IT GOES!

Where the Wheel of Cocteau stops, NO ONE KNOWS!

AND IT STOPS ON.....

...a PERFECT song to end the week on. It may have more significance to me that others reading this, but....well, I'll explain when one of y'all inevitably win today's mystery with the first guess.

And if I don't mention it enough, you guys are TOO GOOD. Scary good at this. It's frustrating that I rarely even challenge you any more.

-------------------------------

Sama sama salava (not a mispelling of "saliva". She definitely saying "salava". It could be Liz's odd way of pronouncing "saliva". We hear he take liberties with pronunciations often)

Sama a she-mane

Sama sama salava

Sama a she-may-ane

Sama sama salava

(Honestly, this sounds like what must happen to Liz Fraser whenever she travels outside her home country or even her straight up HOME and she tries to communicate with anyone in the language she "speaks" during Cocteau Twins songs from 1984 through 1990 and people just hear it and shoot her blank stares back. The repetition and drawing out of syllables the second time around reek of communication frustration...kind of like Chris Tucker telling Jackie Chan "DO YOU UNDERSTAND THE WORDS COMING OUT OF MY MOUTH?!?!" in the movie "Rush Hour")

CHORUS

She shimma

She sigh

A rocks, a pox, a peas, a pod (I listened to this multiple times and she is just adamant that there are multiple "peas" but insists upon using the singular article "a" as opposed to singing "some". Maybe she chooses to sing in gibberish most of the time because she failed English in primary school?)

She shimma

She sigh

A rocks, a pox, a peas, a pod

Oh oh-oh oh

And one verse, one chorus should be enough for you to guess this one

As always, I look forward to your guesses and snark.

I don't know how I suckered myself into doing this, but I have 45 minutes to get today's song transcribed and posted before I have to start cooking for our potluck at work.

So, little pre-song babbling from me today. Which is probably a good thing. Y'all must be sick of my jibber-jabber by now.

*spins wheel*

ROUND AND AROUND IT GOES!

Where the Wheel of Cocteau stops, NO ONE KNOWS!

AND IT STOPS ON.....

...a song that I think has ACTUAL WORDS. Let's see if I detect them and they actually translate into something sensical.

-------------------------------

(from 2:10 in)

From this side of the fence you just get anywhere

On the painful, leaping fairy dust (????)

Seeing hips on the bees just ho-old your sneeze(I guess you can't sneeze in front of a bee with hips or they'll fuck your shit up. But if you see a bee that has no body from the abdomen down, sneeze to your heart's delight.)

Exposure on the ta-ack (????)

Now this side of the bus there is dead everywhere (bet this side they are talking about is the rear and this bus driver has gone Death Race 2000 on us)

Oh the pain full, in the furry nuts (Sorry....I relistened to that too and that is just what I hear. Didn't want to make this crude. That being said, watching this bus on a rampage causes Liz pain in her testicles?!?! She has testicles?!?!)

Saying ipso whoopsies is wool jussies (????)

Exposure in the towers

Now let's stand off the gas there is dead everywhere (AH! I think my rampaging bus driver theory may be right!)

Oh the pain full, in the furry nuts (Question...are we collectively more concerned by her having "nuts", she's feeling pain in them, or that she keeps going on about how furry they are?)

Saying ipso whoopsies is wool jussies

Exposure in the towers

And the song ends there. Do you know this song about a rampaging bus driver hit & running everyone in his path while Liz is feeling a pain in her "furry nuts"?

As always, I look forward to your guesses and snark.

Aren't Tuesdays the worst? I know they are for me because I really do prefer working from the privacy of my home and my favorite co-workers to water cooler gossip with, namely, my cats.

This all being said, if I ever seem a bit rushed with these Tuesdays through Thursdays, its because I'm trying to post one of these really quickly while work neighbors are not in the vicinity of my desk. It also possibly explains the exceptionally sloppy transcriptions on Tuesdays through Thursdays.

Speaking of which, on to today's exceptionally sloppy transcription.

*spins wheel*

ROUND AND AROUND IT GOES!

Where the Wheel of Cocteau stops, NO ONE KNOWS!

AND IT STOPS ON.....

...a song I can honestly say that I do NOT remember and possibly couldn't name when presented with a sample listen. So we've got a bit of hidden gem track today.

Which means, like every day, someone will guess it with the first guess and it will seem like it was no challenge. Sometimes, y'all's level of Cocteau Twin song knowledge frustrates me.

-------------------------------

(starting at 1:23 in)

Wah-show, wah-show baby limb (that last bit is giving me the creeps because "baby limb" reminds me too much of that "gross joke" from childhood that goes "What grosser than 10 dead babies found in a garbage can? One dead baby found in 1 garbage can. Sorry...Wokka wokka. Yeah, I do a Fozzy Bear whenever I tell a bad joke. Which means my daily games should have featured MANY MORE WOKKA WOKKAs by now. Back to the game....sorry. These have become too easy for you all. I need to stoop to such distractions)

Willy Willy Asian man he come Aaliyah (references to the late singer/actress Aaliyah and ME....I'm an Asian man and my first name is William, though I usually go by Bill, not Willy.)

Until the status is co-beaten (????)

For Aaliyah seasoning me (Aaliyah's a cannibal, coating Liz with a dry rub before roasting her, I guess)

CHORUS

She shall

Live on well

Live on well

She shall

Live on well

She shall

Live on well

Live on well

She shall

Live on well

Tay-ay-ake off

There you have it. One verse and one chorus of this song about cannibal Aaliyah continuuing to live after seasoning and eating Liz Fraser and an Asian man name Willy.

As always, I look forward to your guesses and snark.

YUCK. August begins which means (for at least us in the Northern Hemisphere) we get the warmest weather of the year this month. And I am not a beachy person. I still can't even get myself to enjoy the band Beach House (despite streaming services' multiple attempts to recommend them to me) because I hate beaches and sunny weather so much. It's definitely got to do with PTSD from being once beaten up at a beach and growing near what apparently is the must disgusting beach in all of California (https://www.cbsnews.com/sanfrancisco/news/linda-mar-beach-pacifica-pollution-human-waste-contamination/), which happens to also be the beach where I was assaulted.

Enough about beaches and onto today's game!

...one that I think many on this Subreddit will not like, but I literally have these selections randomized and I only check if the song wasn't like done within the past two weeks.

-------------------------------

(starting at 3:06 in)

In water

Furtive river

Dirty with soil

Strong and fertile

In water

Furtive river

Dirty with soil

Strong and fertile

(WOW....no food references!)

CHORUS

Stars in my eyes

*pulls needle from the record sound*

I'm going to end this one hear because just that first line of the chorus should make this one easy to figure out.

As always, I look forward to your guesses and snark.

Imaginary Cocteau Twins Album - COCTEAU TWINS DINE OUT

I've been noticing of late that Cocteau Twins seem to namedrop (at least in my convoluted mind) lots of food and/or restaurants (okay, the restaurant is just one song) in their songs. I thought it may be fun for us to put our collective heads together and compile a fictional album called COCTEAU TWINS Dine Out featuring all the songs that we thing have ties to food. Here are tracks I will earmark for this album, noting what dining/food related item they namedrop alongside the track:

  1. Love's Easy Tears - (bao and xio long bao)

  2. Evangeline - (challah and poppy seeds)

  3. Whale's Tails - (xiu mai)

  4. Pandora (for Cindy) - (Applebee's)

  5. Eyes are Mosaics - (spam)

Are there any other tracks that should be added to this? Add what would be the song order?

(Side note- is it just me or would the tracks played in the order listed above flow pretty decently?)

NAME THAT COCTEAUNE! - For Friday, July 31, 2026

THE RULES:

First of all, sorry again to the moderators of this Subreddit. Admittedly, I've been feeling a need to spruce up this posts a bit to prevent "staleness" but I understand that the pictures were becoming gratuitous are were highly unnecessary, probably only succeeding in entertaining myself.

Secondly, sorry for missing a post yesterday for anyone that was aching to take a crack at one yesterday. It was just not a good day at work for me and, like many, I have just moodswings that took me to a low place that didn't make me want to do much of anything other than keep busy at work while inwardly seething.

With that out of the way, I'm in a more playful mood today and ready to get today's some queue up for transcription.

*spins wheel*

ROUND AND AROUND IT GOES!

Where the Wheel of Cocteau stops, NO ONE KNOWS!

AND IT STOPS ON.....

...one of my favorite Cocteau Twins songs EVER!

And it's not because she sounds, upon an uncareful listen, like she's potentially just naming off sound effects from the old Batman TV show starring Adam West.

-------------------------------

(starting at 1:24 in...I'll be giving you the second verse and second chorus today. Like naming that really matters because I'm fairly certain this is one of those "second verse, same as the first" scenarios)

Bao (Forget about what I said about old Batman TV show sound effects. This one's yet another one about steamed dim sum buns)

Ee lah lah

She Abba doe (AKA she Swedish pop band female deer)

Ee-yowza sen

Bao

Ooh la la (must be really good baos!)

She Abba doe

CHORUS

She how ba doe, quo, fozum, Ho-fay Hassan

Fat baby BOGO (fat babies are on clearance, I guess)

Up fallin' down, xao long, bao come (and I swear I'm not hungry today yet I heard an order for soup dumplings)

Almond toast yo' dos esse (two almond toasts, dude?)

She how ba doe, quo, fozum, Ho-fay Hassan

Fat baby BOGO

Up fallin' down, xao long, bao come

Almond boy ah yose eh zie-yee

Despite me probably hearing things that others just don't hear with my obvious obsession with food, I think this one should be an easy one.

As always, I look forward to your guesses and snark.

Midweek is here already and my manager is working from home so I can devote time to today's post. I feel also very relieved that yesterday's post didn't take me down a food tangent because I was beginning to think that I was obsessed with eating. I'm curious to hear what Liz "says" to me today.

*spins wheel*

ROUND AND AROUND IT GOES!

Where the Wheel of Cocteau stops, NO ONE KNOWS!

AND IT STOPS ON.....

...something that I highly doubt has any intelligible words from the English language in it. But, if I join this midway, maybe I'll find otherwise.

-------------------------------

(starting at 1:47 in)

Wigwam

Tee wall (I'm hearing English words after all...and this song appears to be about architecture)

Hee-hum

Dah-dum (darn....so much for the architecture talk)

S.B.D., juh-dah (I have no idea what "juh-dah" means, but I'm familiar with "S.B.D.", AKA "silent but deadly". Just deny and say "whoever smelt it, dealt it", Liz.)

S.B.D., juh-dah

Is spam too tempting? (I've listened to this over and over a few times and I'm convinced that this is what is being said. And YES, it is too tempting, as long as you are okay with eating something that is awful for your health and offal in composition)

Itemize

What I seize (I guess it's good to take an inventory of everything you take from others)

Oddest a sissy sees foe knee yum (Another instance where a sentence definitely starts with real words, then deescalates into gibberish)

Itemize

Foo eh seas (But, the lyric was already established as "Itemize, what I seize". She forgot the lyrics)

Oddest a sissy sees foe knee yum, too

Itemize

Foo eh seas (Now she's just doubling down on her new lyric being the correct lyric. It's like doing a singer's version of the Pee Wee Herman "I meant to do that" when he hit the curb and was tossed from his bike in "Pee Wee's Big Adventure")

Oddest a sissy sees foe knee yum, eh

Itemize

Well Lee eh cotton mouth

Nigh yeah

Na na na ee-know eh bwow

Qual ah yooz-yeah yoozya

There is more qualis ee y'all move yay (I get the sense only Liz Frazer and, maybe, Bjork are the only people who these last five lines make any sense to)

And that will be all I give to you all today. Can you guess what this song about passing silent gas and the irresistability of spam is?

As always, I look forward to your guesses and snark.

It's Tuesday! I'm in the office so I'm looking forward to vampiros tacos from Al Pastor Papi for lunch. And, before anyone asks, NO, I don't like the vampiros tacos from Al Pastor Papi just because I'm an old goth and everything with me has to be vampire or witch or bat themed. I honestly hated being peers with people that had that mentality. It was embarassing being lumped in with them. I've got way more dimensions to me. Shit, I ain't ashamed to admit that one of my favorite songs from The Cure is "Friday, I'm In Love". FUCK VAMPIRES! But those vampiros tacos are amazing because it's like a street taco combined with a taco truck quesadilla.

Damn, all this food talk AGAIN is really looking like today's NTC will be one tainted by my appetite again.

*spins wheel*

ROUND AND AROUND IT GOES!

Where the Wheel of Cocteau stops, NO ONE KNOWS!

AND IT STOPS ON.....

...based upon one of the words in the title of this one, I sure hope it doesn't induce thoughts of eating. Otherwise, someone better book me a rubber room in a maximum security prison.

-------------------------------

(from 2:34 in)

(BTW, there's a bit of interlapping parts going on here. I will do my best to indicate vocal track #2 with bolded AND italicized font. I'm ambitious today!)

Oh, Sue

It's a ninja (????)

Yo-oh Ho-oh

It's a ninja (They really want it be known that "it's a ninja". I really want to see where this goes. And are they talking about the assassin or the blender?)

Ho ho shao (rhymes with BAO) ho

Sho cha

Ho-ta-aa-uh-aaghh

Crystal ninja (Huh? I guess it's a bedazzled blender. Of course, it could just be a nunchuk wielding badass rocking some gemstones)

Fo-sha-ha-ha, ho-ho ninja oh

END OF SONG

Do you know which Cocteau Twins song is this one about Asian killers for hire or blenders (still not sure which they were referring to)?

As always, I look forward to your guesses and snark.

Who's ready to have their soul crushed by another work week?

Sorry for being melodramatic. Work was just a bit hellish last week so hopefully I can fit in some meals while having some productive work days.

While fitting in a complete work week of Name That Cocteaunes!

So let's get #1 for the week off of the "To-Do" list!

*spins wheel*

ROUND AND AROUND IT GOES!

Where the Wheel of Cocteau stops, NO ONE KNOWS!

AND IT STOPS ON.....

...something that will be WAY TOO EASY if I provide you with a chorus. So, I'm going to give you the 2nd verse transcribed to the best of my abilities, which means it will be transcribed poorly. But I've just had a breakfast smoothie so at the very least I should be clouded by thoughts of food.

-------------------------------

(from 1:18 in)

Allah

Hashtu

Bad Josaiah (Are these all religious references? I don't know. I'm agnostic)

There was a peace this moment none happened again

Hallah (I thought this hearing food thing we be done with since I had breakfast, but it sounded like hallah, or properly, CHALLAH, like that bread that is really good for making French Toast with. Yeah, smoothies are never nearly as good as French Toast. Oh shit....hit play again and FOCUS)

Hashtu (I really need to research what this HASHTU is. It's been namedropped twice now)

Have a spoon of (maybe I should realize that everything just sounds like its about eating to me)

A seedy, seedy poppy seedy  (she must be at a bakery because there's challah bread and poppy seed bagels)

CHORUS

There is no tu...

WHOA! That's going to make this one TOO EASY, so I'll stop right there.

As always, I look forward to your guesses and snark.

HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYONE! And, once again, work has been busy, eating has been put on the back burner, and I'M HANGRY. Let's see if today's song also has me hearing food items like with "Ivo" yesterday...which come to think of it, sounds a lot like EVOO, as in extra virgin olive oil.

Geez, I have focus issues.

*spins wheel*

ROUND AND AROUND IT GOES!

Where the Wheel of Cocteau stops, NO ONE KNOWS!

AND IT STOPS ON.....

...one where the vocals are a bit shrill and breathy. AKA, this is a recipe for transcription disaster.

-------------------------------

(from 1:06 in)

On a messah nada data sniffin' many on a beeda bodda bom pa die (???????)

Foo na xiu mai (I guess when I'm hungry, I either crave Chinese food or Cocteau Twins lyrics sound like a Dim Sum menu to me)

On a messah nada data sniffin' many on a beeda bodda bom ba pie

Send us some love (don't know if the Dim Sum cart person can offer that in one of those bamboo steamer trays, but I guess it doesn't hurt to ask if that is what you are craving when at a dim sum restaurant)

On a messah nada data sniffin' many on a beeda bodda bom pa die

Shoo da xiu mai (yeah, double up on the dumplings! God, I'm getting really hungry and I need to rethink my original thought that today was going to be a Subway for lunch day)

CHORUS

Sea, vellum, and snow covered a hole Jenna vee yuz

Love love love messin' with now with any no

Ooh wah suh tock

Venice Venice Venice Venice Polly Polly Polly Polly Polly Polly Poe (I'm so hungry, the Venice made me start craving pasta....then the Polly made me want a cracker)

Sea, vellum, and snow covered a hole Jenna vee yuz

Love covered in love messin' with now with any no

Ooh wah suh tock

Venice Venice Venice Venice Polly Polly Polly Polly Polly Polly Poe

And that's where I'll stop because my stomach is growling too loud to where I can't hear the song over top of my hangry gut.

As always, I look forward to your guesses and snark.

*spins wheel*

ROUND AND AROUND IT GOES!

Where the Wheel of Cocteau stops, NO ONE KNOWS!

AND IT STOPS ON.....

WOW! The Wheel of Cocteaune is truly giving you guys the silly gibberished choruses galore this week.

I will say no more and begin this thing just after the second chorus

-------------------------------

(from 1:55 in)

Brie daddem dah

Brie bao (This maybe my hangriness kicking in but I could really go for a Chinese steamed bun full of runny French cheese right now)

La la hee-hee-ee

(Now we get to the dead giveaway)

Peepo

Peach blow

Pandor

And I'm not even going to give you the rest of verse 3 (same as verses 1 and 2) because if you can't get it from those three phrases alone, you should toss your Cocteau Twins fan membership card into your nearest shredder ASAP.

As always, I look forward to your guesses and snark.

MY APOLOGIES!

The work day whiffed by quickly and I had this inkling sense that something was missing and it was THIS! I completely forgot to post. MY BAD.

Hopefully, I can repay you all with a song transcription that will put an enjoyable song in your mind that will also be a bit challening to figure out.

And, today, I promise....NO GRATUITOUS ART GARFUNKEL CHEST HAIR IMAGES.

Yikes ill life fell sunshine sea fell like shell me hee go

By the way, I will get to why this picture was added to this post shortly.

What a weekend! Even though I was probably the only San Francisco Bay Area citizen of a certain demographic that claims to love alternative music genres that DIDN'T attend Mosswood Meltdown, I got to attend my first WNBA game (though, as with the NBA, I got frustrated by the athletes prioritizing looking cool over winning by insisting on shooting overhand free throws when we all know that Granny Goose free throws are almost automatic), ate some great BBQ, fully indulged in National Ice Cream Day, and scored tickets to see ART GARFUNKEL because I want to see Simon & Garfunkel live before they both cease to exist, they will never regroup, and Paul Simon tickets were too pricey during his recent "last tour ever", so this will have to suffice. I wonder if I should have a tshirt printed with the above graphic on it for the show (It's of the disco album that Art Garfunkel never recorded but I always wished he would have that I asked AI to create the album cover for)?

I hope everyone else's weekends went well.

*spins wheel*

ROUND AND AROUND IT GOES!

Where the Wheel of Cocteau stops, NO ONE KNOWS!

AND IT STOPS ON.....

Well, there's good and bad to today's track so picked by the Wheel of Cocteau.

THE BAD: Admittedly, it's a song that I don't like. 9 times out of 10, this song comes on, I skip it.

THE GOOD: This one will be easy. For both me to transcribe and, I think, for you all to guess.

I think I just need to give you guys the chorus and you should be able to figure this one out.

-------------------------------

(from 0:44 in)

CHORUS

LA-DA EE YA DA DA

DA DA EE YA WOW WOW

LA-DA EE YA DA DA

DA DA EE YA WOW WOW

LA-DA EE YA DA DA

DA DA EE YA WOW WOW

LA-DA EE YA DA DA

DA DA EE YA WOW WOW

LA-DA EE YA DA DA

DA DA EE YA WOW WOW WOW

This chorus should be a dead giveaway, so I'm giving you nothing more.

As always, I look forward to your guesses and snark.
