Does anyone else have a super long winter break? I'm a first year PhD student and I'm realizing that my university's winter break is almost 6 weeks long, during which time PhD students don't receive stipend payments. I've heard breaks at some point in the summer are also common.

How do other PhD students deal with this? The job market is already so bad but idk how I'd get a job for 6 weeks or less. My university is also in a fairly small town so I'm guessing jobs are limited.

I'm a new grad student and I would love to get back into dance, but all the studios in the area seem to be for kids. Is there anywhere to dance recreationally (classes, clubs, etc.) in the area? I'm open to anything (not a professional but I've tried a lot of different styles).

Hi y'all, I really need a dolly for moving this weekend but it doesn't seem like any of the Uhauls in the area have any. Anyone have recommendations for places that might? I know it's moving season for a lot of students so maybe I shouldn't have waited until now to look for one, but it is what it is.

I'm an incoming grad student and I'm hoping it's possible to forgo getting a parking pass since my apartment will be on a OUT route and the stops are closer to my department buildings than either the commuter red or blue parking zones.

I know the commuter passes sell out fast though so I want to be sure taking the bus is doable. Are the buses generally reliable, and do they get super full during the week? Any negative experiences?

I literally just need a few inches cut off and don't want to spend 50+ dollars. I don't have any layers, bangs, or color (just straight fine hair). I would do it myself if I trusted myself not to fck it up. Thanks y'all.
