Looking for a sanity check on pricing if folks have the time!

Hey folks, I am hoping to get a Corolla as my next car. I currently have an offer for $28,994 out the door at a dealership for an 2026 XSE, and I’m curious if that’s a good price to jump on?

I also had an offer for $30,500 for an FX which seems way worse

Any help or tips would be more than appreciated!

Pricing on a Corolla FX?

Hey all, I have a dealership offering me what looks like $30,500 just about, out the door for a 2026 Corolla Hatchback FX. Is this a good deal? They didn't quite give me much room for bargaining, so I am curious what you all think would be a good OTD price for this vehicle

Considering buying my first Subaru

Hey all, I am hoping to buy my first Subaru, preferably the Crosstrek and wanted to ask this community what are some things I should keep in mind when purchasing?

Are there certain years that are way better than others, or should I look at brand new? Is there a trim I should keep an eye out for over another?

I am trading in my Tacoma for it, so I want something that's reliable, fun, and decent with gas, which I am hoping the Crosstrek fits that bill

Buying a new car, is this typical?

Hey all, I have recently joined the hunt for my next car and I am witnessing some very weird behavior and I wanted to come here and see if this is the status quo these days. I am in Maryland, near Baltimore, the places I've contacts are with in an hour of here.

  1. I've had multiple dealerships quote me the incorrect MSRP for vehicles. A lot of what they're quoting me are 2-5k over what the base MSRP is stated elsewhere
  2. I've had several dealers tell me they won't give me out the door prices over the phone. I had one guy go as far as tell me "Your presence is your power"
  3. I've had dealerships refuse to haggle, hell, not even haggle, no deals present. They tell me the price is what it is and long or short tell me if I don't want it, I can get bent.

Is this typical behavior these days, and what can I use to reason with these people. They clearly don't seem to need my sale, and it's been exhausting.

Trading in my Tacoma for something more practical

Hey all, I am truly torn and hoping this community could lend me a hand.

To break it down, I bought a Toyota Tacoma a year ago, really wanted a truck for god knows why, bought this, felt good for a year until the Gas started adding up and the ride wasn't' as fun as I had expected.

I am now on the hunt to trade this truck in and buy a new car out right. Gas mileage is definitely top of mind (28+ mpg if possible), as is reliability and comfortability. But looks are important also. My first car was a 2008 Eclipse GT that was my baby and a drunk driver took it away from me, I haven't bought something sporty or nice since (I get the Tacoma is nice for a truck)

So I have a max budget of about $33,000, would prefer something stylish, and dependable that will last and be easy to work on if something happens. I am car savvy and would love to be able to work on my own car which is why I am ruling out an Electric car. Honestly would prefer Coupe, Hatchback or Small SUV / Crossover. It doesn't need to be super fast, but I would love to have fun in a car again like I did with my Eclipse.

I was leaning towards the new Prius' they're sleek, the mileage is insane the price seems right, but I heard that the battery replacement for it is insane, which makes it a little bit of a turn off. I've also considered the VW Taos, Toyotta Carolla Hatchback, and the Mazda 3. I couldn't really commit to any of them, for no particular reason.

It's been awhile since I've kept up on how the dependability of cars are these days, but what do you all think? Anything based on this criteria that you all think I should look into?
