Finally got to take out the new board!

I was having some issues with my Exway flex and decided I should probably look into upgrading. I ended up finding this gear drive Hurricane Vader with 50 miles on it for $450. I actually haven’t been able to ride much due to all the rain and the heatwave recently but now that I’m getting it out it’s been really fun! I still prefer my bamboo Exway for some tighter turns and lighter weight (I brought it to class almost every day) but for longer rides this thing is a BEAST. Took it across 3 towns on one charge! Not to mention the inflatable tires make cracks and bumps literally a non-issue.

I’ll still probably use my Flex for getting to and from classes so I don’t have to carry this up flights of stairs or anything. But for everything else the Hurricane wins hands down. I really wish more people got into this hobby it’s so worth it!

Meepo Hurricane gear drive upgrades?

Hey guys! So I decided to upgrade my current board (Exway flex 1.0 that’s been butchered by a winter of heavy use) to a Meepo Hurricane gear drive that’s sitting on Marketplace (still has a warranty. Guy states the odometer is at around 35 miles).

The dude told me the board only came with standard kingpin trucks and was wondering if the OEM belt drive doubles are worth the buy.

I’m looking for headlights and taillights for the board as well. I would be doing a lot of evening and night riding so a good light system would be awesome!

Also I was thinking about maybe getting a nicer remote? Ngl the remote looks pretty cheap and uncomfortable compared to the remote I currently use with my flex. Is there a specific remote that’s plug and play with the board that might be a bit better?

And if anyone has any other suggestions for upgrades please lmk!

Trying to purchase my first E-bike

Hey guys! Full context I did also put this in the r/ebikes subreddit but I want to hear from here too because it looks like an E-bike that’s mainly throttle only is more common on here, and I want to have as many datapoints on this as possible.

I’ve been trying to get an E-bike recently and every time I think I found one I do a little research and people are telling me to steer clear of whatever bike/brand I’m looking at. It’s getting kind of tiring just blindly looking so I thought I could come here for help.

Here’s a quick overview of what I’m looking for to help out the context

Purpose: commuting to/from work (around 20 miles one way) and joyriding

About me: I am 5’9 and weigh around 180lbs. So something comfortable for that size would be awesome

Price: anything under $1,200 (I AM OK WITH BUYING USED! With the specs I’m listing I don’t know if I’m delusional looking for good specs at this price. So if I am let me know. Just please be nice about it 😅)

Range: 25+ miles (I would be using the full electric more than pedal assist for context. The higher range the better. Like if I could shoot for a range in the 30’s-40’s even all the up to like the 60’s that would be wonderful, But I’m mainly looking to fit in my price point.)

Top speed: 20mph+ (again. The higher the better of course. I would love to have one that went 30mph+ or however fast. But I prefer range to speed though. And of course price is the #1 factor)

Misc: I am looking for a bike that has a full electric mode. I know some are pedal assist only so I do want to clarify I am looking for one that I can use even without pedaling.

If anyone has suggestions for good e-bikes that are in this price range please let me know!!

And if you know any good brands/bikes out of this price range with those specs also let me know!!!

Thanks Y’all! :)
