Ilgiz Tantashev cannot referee another match at this world cup

I've got no allegiance to France. I'm not french and my money is on Spain. It's arguably in my interests if France lose or have players out for the latter rounds.

But Ilgiz Tantashev is having a terrible terrible game, and it's his chosen style. It's not that he's missing these tackles, he's actively choosing not to punish them.

He is known for a minimal intervention approach, which some fans probably appreciate, but he's taking it to a level that French players are now at risk.

He's missed several fouls, and several at least yellow card offences.

I can see a bad injury because players don't have the safety rail of a yellow card to check their aggression.

Euro 28: lessons to be learned

I feel like Euro 28, if we qualify (which we should given the host safety net), will be the last big tournament for a few of these players. And possibly Clarke too depending on how it goes.

I'm just hoping we can crack this formula if being utterly dross at the big tournaments. I think it's partly mental tbh.

If we cannot give an account of ourselves on our own soil, then I don't see a time we ever will unless we go full on Belgium youth development.

Tom English and Neil McCann clash on BBC

Hope it's okay to post this as it's not strictly Celtic related (nae danger if removed), but the meltdown from Neil McCann is worth a listen: https://youtu.be/WV67OE\_RR8E?is=sNpE7frEpRbIbrDd

I'd like to think that's how angry he was after Araujo scored in the last seconds.

Pat Nevin is allegedly saying that punches were thrown between the two pundits.

Any chance Hearts could take one for the team and appoint Clarke ????

Would be a service to Scottish football you would be total legends!!!

You will qualify for the CL or EL, but be utter dross once there.

Tierney a shining light

Anyone else think that KT was quite good tonight???

I thought he made Scotland a much better team, and stuck out in a team that paralysed by fear, anxiety, and general lack of composure.

He played a big role in getting us to the USA.

With all the noise last season I felt we slightly overlooked how good a season he had, and seems to be doing okay injury wise.

I was proud of him tonight.

Who would you want as manager??

Apols if this has been done recently, will remove if so.

But who would you actually like to see get the job if not MON or Keane?

I really liked Askou and would have been open to Bellamy.

He seems content at Everton, but I wouldn't have minded Moyes. I know the style is not great, but I just think he's a good quality manager. I'm probably being too ambitious but would have asked Xavi the question also.

So who would you have wanted within reason???

All that hat said I reckon Desmond was always going for an Irish option. If Jim Goodwin does well next season he will be in the frame soon too.

Robbie Keane

Celtic fan here.

A lot of our fans don't want Robbie Keane for political and football reasons. I can't say I've followed him closely, but he was an elite striker.

Is the criticism fair or over the top?

I see he's won things, but also heard he's not come off well at times.

The false Hearts/McInnes narrative that suits us

Now that the dust has settled, we can assess the league season fully in hindsight. One thing that's occurred to me is the narrative our SMM had going around McInnes and Hearts, i.e. how amazing they have been this season.

Few in the SMM want to acknowledge that:

-Hearts won 1 game away from home after January, including against bottom club Livingston.

-Hearts couldn't beat us at home when we had 10 men.

-Hearts had no European football this season, and played about 40 comp games in total (us 59).

-Shankland sitter Vs Motherwell.

-Mcinnes questionable subs in the final game (Frankie Kent at 46 mins 🤣).

We rightly got a lot of flak for Mvuka, but he was free unlike Ageu who was for them an expensive flop. Even the cup form gets overlooked, we would have been lacerated if knocked out of both cups at home. McInnes should have got more flak for that.

None of this suits the narrative sadly (hence the meltdown about missing minutes, VAR, and pitch celebrations) but to be honest it suits us in a way.

This reminds me a bit of Ally Mcoist as Rangers manager. He was clearly shite, but there was a reluctance for it to be called out which eventually contributed to Sevco failing to get out of the Championship 🤣

So this in a way benefits us quite well.

Don't get me wrong, McInnes and Hearts do deserve some plaudits, but there are also several flaws which have been overlooked. I personally think Champions League qualifiers, European football, and increased pressure will hinder them next season. Wonder what the excuse will be then.

One thing for sure though, is that we chose the MOTY far too early this season.

Martin O'Neill for 1 season

A few rumours going around that O'Neil will stay on for next season. I wouldn't pay attention to anything until it's confirmed. But if true I'm relatively happy about it.

I'm not fussed about his age, if he feels good and is good cognitively I don't think it's an issue. There are people older than him running companies and countries. That said we can manage it with Maloney doing more behind the scenes, maybe taking cup games etc.

MON gives us the aura, the presence, the experience. Look at his class dealing with the media after the SMS meltdown. A more inexperienced manager might not have handled that as well. He's also not playing an angle, or likely to see us a stepping stone to the EPL.

I think he gives us a better chance of making it through the CL playoff, in a way I'm not sure Keane or Askou would.

I get the fear about legacy, but he admits it doesn't concern him. His last spell ended on a low, but didn't ruin his legacy.

We have a lot of problems behind the scenes and this gives us a little bit of time to sort some of it out.

Needless hysteria

So two weeks on from our title win, we learn:

-It was a penalty Vs Motherwell for us

-AJ should not have been sent off

-Yang goal onside

-No Hearts players were assaulted at Celtic Park

-The game ended properly

-Mcinnes and Hearts knew the game had ended, and actually asked for it.

We also learned Hearts should likely have had a penalty at Motherwell, but we should also have had one at Hibs which would have helped eradicate the goal difference.

The pundits, podcasters, and Journos who made out pen out to be like the Henry handball Vs Ireland should be ashamed. They may cling to the KMI panel, but it was a 2/1 split indicating a less than continuous decision. If they had anything about them they would apologise, but won't.

The likes of Andy Halliday (who has previous for lying about Celtic fans), Alan Preston, and several others basically falsely reported fan attack on fans. I wish the club would pursue this, (maybe fans can via ofcom?) but sadly it's a narrative that may suit our board against the GB.

In many ways this has made the league win even sweeter due to the meltdown, but accuracy also matters and in a climate of high tension facts matter.

This whole episode has exposed more than a few people.

5 in a row

Amongst all the drama and excitement, winning 5 titles in a row is a great achievement.

I mind when Strachan did 3 and it felt big. I think it has been overshadowed a bit by the fact we did 9 not long ago.

But it's still brilliant. When we lost the league in 2021 some predicted a long drought for us. We have since won 11 of 15 trophies.

We have now moved 4 trophies ahead of Sevco + Rangers. The meltdown down from them part shows how desperate they are.

We should be aiming to do better next season, but still, these are incredible days.

Credit to all where due. I have been apoplectic with our club this season, but also recognise these are halcyon times in a way.

Liam Scales

Just wanted to say that I'm a Celtic fan who is delighted with Scales this season. He's been one of our real leaders this year.

Hope he takes his form into games for you ❤️

Support the team all the way

Whatever happens tomorrow I'd love us to support the team all the way to the final whistle. If it's a shocker we can boo after the game and continue any action against the board.

Make Hearts suffer. Boo, jeer, and heckle them.

The last 48 hours has shown that most of Scottish football are desperate for us to lose, let's enrage them all 😄
