IFA recommending switching pension funds to their company's

I'm 61, a divorced man with no dependants, and own my home with no mortgage. I'm looking to retire next year and want to consolidate my 6 personal pensions (plus a DB I'm not moving) before I do, as they're not all performing as well as they could.

I've met a representative of a well regarded (positive write ups on unbiased and vouchedfor) local IFA firm and they've got up to date valuations of my plans. He's recommended transferring them all into funds managed by his firm. I had thought he would have reviewed my existing plans and recommend which one to pick to move the other ones into.

Admittedly their funds do seem to do pretty well, and the charges for the funds are similar to my existing fund charges (although they add an extra 1% on top). I have asked for example annuities to compare (although he didn't seem to think much of them).

I was wondering if this is a normal outcome and if anyone else has had similar advice from their IFAs?

Countdown!

I realised after I should have reset the trip mileage 190 miles ago.

Ah well, I'll try and remember in another 11,000 miles!

Solar & Storage Live UK @ NEC

I'm at the start of my solar journey and I've been sent a link to this Exhibition at the NEC in Birmingham (Tues 22nd to Thurs 24th September). Not sure if anyone has been in previous years?

I have nothing to do with the organisers or exhibitors but thought others might be interested. There's the usual option of free tickets.

UFH vs Thermaskirt

I'm in the process of buying a property that will need some renovation. One part of that will be to add a heat pump. Since its a Victorian house, I'm wondering if a Thermaskirt type solution would be easier than a UFH. Less disruption, and no need to worry about raising floor levels with boards and screed etc.

Has anyone gone that route?

A2A and air purifier

I've started the journey of looking to move to a heat pump. Due to the heat this year (and with it likely to be getting more common) I'm looking at an A2A system to use as a cooler in the summer and heater in the winter, rather than an A2W and air-con set up.

I live near Manchester and the current moor fires have made wonder if A2A systems can be fitted with a purification system to filter out PM2.5?
