Would love to see more styles of my OC. Could y’all draw her please?

Her name's Stephanie Muñoz. She's part of a species I created (I can't link it but it's I posted an about in the worldbuilding subreddit).

She's outgoing and goofy. She's muscular because she's a martial artist and also does powerlifting. But because of her species, she also has features from her dominant animal forms. She has jaguar rosettes, musculature of a lioness, teeth of a wolf, and her hair has a similar style to a wolverine.

She's of Filipino descent but was born in the Midwest. In this picture she's about 18 years old. I'm also writing a book with her in it.

This art was drawn by someone else but I would love to see more versions of her.

Thank you for anyone who reads this.

Edit: Y'all could draw her in other clothes. The one she is in the first one is to transform with her shift.

If the Bears can be top of the division and win like the Sox are doing right now... Chicago is back in business

Edit: Much love to the Cubs fans... Forgot to add the /s

Is Hot n Cajun a good alternative to Clesi's? If not what's better?

Me and my mom is going to New Orleans around Labor Day. I asked about all the restaurants in a previous post. I just finished my itinerary (which I would love to show y'all cause I wanna go to the best of the best) and one of the main things we wanna eat is seafood boil. Clesi's is gonna be closed for renovations so is there anything better?

We're not renting a car so anything a short uber/public transportation away would be nice. That's we thought about Hot N Cajun but I want to see good other options.

I can't eat dairy or spicy food (bad stomach) so hopefully they can accomodate.

So far I've heard:

  • Salvo's
  • Cajun Seafood
  • Blue Store
  • Superior Seafood

Which is the best?

Should I replace the Daypack (15L) with the Daylite Plus for my Farpoint 55?

So I've had my Farpoint since \~2023. I've only used the 40L backpack like twice. But the Daypack I used practically everyday and it isn't that teared up but I'm looking to get the 20L one to add more space.

I'm planning to do more trips with my Farpoint and want to maximize the space I have. In a month I have a trip to NOLA that is 4 days and in December I'm doing a 3 week, give or take, long trip to Florida.

Here's the thing, the NOLA trip is going to be through United and I don't want my bag to be a checked bag. I don't know if the Daylite Plus will be too big for being a personal item.

The Florida trip I'm not too worried about since I'm taking Amtrak to there and Southwest coming back and it's restrictions aren't that bad.

I like how the Daylite Plus looks and the space is a big plus but I don't want to waste money on it. That's why I want to ask you guys.

I want to start traveling more and doing it with one bag so I hope I can make travel reports to show y'all how I do it if I can.

After a bit of thought, for weekend trips, I thought about getting a packable backpack, I still like the Daylight Plus for longer trips that I can use with Amtrak and/or airlines that accept it because of the extra space for souvenirs. But I'm stuck on which packable bag to get.

I don't travel as often as I want to so I don't use it a lot but a packable bag I can use so I don't have to use both packs of my Farpoint is a nice touch. I don't know much about bag organization and all that but I do like the option to organize.

I'm a hotel traveler. I would *love* to backpack but that's another conversation for another sub. My preferred mode of travel is through Amtrak but if I have to take a plane then I would but not a huge fan. I pack mostly clothes and toiletries and that's it. Coming home is where the souvenirs come in but even then it's not a lot. For my longer trips I *might* bring my laptop but I don't have a wifi router so there's that. I'm a big dude but can lift heavy (not needed for the daypack just in general) but I'm 5'3 lol. For the daypack, I want something I can use to carry bigger items that won't fit in my sling.

Current list is:

* Matador waterproof 18l ($95 usd)
* Luzon 18L Daypack - Del Día (\~60 usd)
* Osprey Ultralite pack ($50 usd)
* REI Co-op Stuff Travel Pack - 18 L (\~40 usd)
* Sinotron 22L packable daypack (\~18 usd)

The most I'm willing to spend on the packable bag is the 95 but I desire <50 because 100 for a packable bag is crazy to me. Also, if anyone has any better replacements for the Daypack on the Farpoint 55 that isn't the Daylite Plus please let me know.

Need help with pick the right spots and remove the bad spots

I'ma be heading to New Orleans Labor Day weekend and need help picking restaurants. I'll be staying 4 days and 3 nights. I'm trying to pick 2 places for breakfast (3rd places is Homewood Suites French Quarter Breakfast), 3 for dinner, one for dessert.

Here's the current list I've made researching and going though the faq:

  • Flamingo A Go Go (American/Bar)
  • Gazebo Cafe (NOLA classics)
  • Meals From the Heart (vegan pancakes and beignets)
  • Who Dat Coffee
  • Hansen’s SnoBliz (sno-cone)
  • Liuzza’s by the Track (bbq shrimp poboy)
  • Cafe Reconcile (black owned)
  • Creole Creamery
  • Turkey and the wolf (sandwich)
  • Domilise's Po-Boy & Bar
  • French Toast (breakfast)
  • Bearcat (breakfast)
  • Li’l Dizzy’s Cafe (creole)
  • Parkway Bakery and Tavern (poboy)
  • The Carousel Bar (bar hop)
  • Laffitte’s Blacksmith Shop (bar hop)
  • Port of Call (bar hop)
  • Breads on Oak (bakery)
  • Surrey’s Cafe (breakfast)
  • Holy Crepes

The ones I've picked so far is Parkway for their po'boy, Meals from the Heart and Bearcat for breakfast. I just need two more dinner places. I'm looking for one in (close to) the French Quarter or CBD.

Main concerns for me is 1) I'm lactose intolerant, 2) I have a low spice tolerance (meaning I can't eat spicy food), and 3) I'm picky as heck.

I'm from a city and culture regarded for their food so I want to see why NOLA is said to be one of the top food places. Anything to take out? Anything to add. Any questions for me? I'm all ears eyes.

Edit to add: I’m willing to try creole food and would love to try but don’t know where to start.

Feminine Men Appreciation Post

It's crazy to me how people look down on feminine men when they are some of the most beautiful people I've ever seen. It genuinely angers me to see posts about how they're weird. Especially if they're POC because I'm a POC.

I remember when I looked at a fem guy on Tiktok one day and was like "wow he looks nice" and realized at that moment I was queer.

For all the fem men, you're valid, keep slaying, y'all always in my heart.

Does an "adorkable" character ruin the story?

I've been seeing lately that people have a problem with how Disney has been doing recently with their characters, not books I know, and I wonder if that's a quality that people can write into a well developed story.

Some characters that I love have that personality but also have other qualities that make their character deep and complex. One example is Marco from Animorphs. He's not "adorkable" but uses his humor to cover up his vulnerability. Harry from Dresden Files, he doesn't like bullies and has a sense humor but at moments can be the scariest guy in the room.

Personally I think it can work but the character should have something to add to their personality to add depth. From the Disney side of it, I like Raya. She is someone who can be cool in one moment but make jokes another. Maybe I'm mixing up stuff but that's my view.

For anyone feeling bad about paying for something too early

I did an instant BidUp for the Floridian about 2 months ago for about $1050 from Chi to Orl because I saw that it was 2 rooms left and I'm like "damn I need to book now before rooms run out and it gets expensive and I have no other way to upgrade."

I did the instant bid and went on with my day.

I, just a few minutes ago, checked back the website to see how prices are looking and now they're $860 and I could've gotten the day before for $200 less than what I paid for. Now I wanna cry lol

But I'll still enjoy my trip and free food.

Update: I feel absolutely amazing now because Amtrak helped me to get my 200 back and make my ticket a regular one. Thank you Amtrak. The rep I talked to was the best.
