looking for a 'zombie' book I read in elementary school

I've been looking for this book for years and every time I try describing it on Google searches it keeps giving completely different ones. Be warned, this was over a decade ago when I read this in 5th Grade so I may have details wrong, and I only remember foggy sections of it.

\- the story was about these 2 boys trapped in a school during a zombie outbreak. if I remember correctly, I think the one boy was the other's bully? or was considered a 'bad kid'.

\- This was a book that had pictures, but I don't think it was a full on picture book or a comic book as I remember it having large walls of text. the art in the book wasn't colored from what I remember, just black and white.

\- I remember one moment/picture was one of the kid's staring out of a window as a zombie stands in the middle of the school's basketball court outside

\- I remember a section of the book takes place inside the school's basement? or boiler room? I could be wrong about that completely and it was somewhere else.

\- by the end of the book they finally make it out of the school at night, and it's revealed that the bully kid was either a zombie or was TURNING into a zombie, as his ear falls off in front of the other kid and he threatens him to "not say a thing to anyone" then the Bully kid shambles off into the dark.

again, sorry if this is really vague. I just remember loving this book as a kid and I remember the end with the kid's ear falling off so vividly too and I could never find anything for it online.

the Google nav bar keeps disappearing and I can't get it back with refreshing?

it's a gamble on wither it's going to disappear or not when I search for anything.

even refreshing doesn't fix it and trying to search something else only SOMETIMES fixes it. this started all of a sudden I wanna say a little over a week ago? maybe 2 weeks?
