Registered?

I was able to register my sibling into 4 out of the 5 course. I really don’t understand this campus restriction thing?? Why can’t I register into non conflicted available courses? If any current student can help me understand. Like how many campuses do you guys have? And why is there a restriction? I went to a university with 2 campuses and there were no restrictions over who can go where.

Also we only have this 15 hour period? So if we don’t manage to get another course by tonight midnight, my sibling won’t be eligible for the 100% scholarship? As you need 15 credits minimum? And why can’t I register for any other course other than the ones listed in the plan? And how can we even register without an advisor? (We checked, none are listed).

How much help can the university provide? Can they register students into full sections? Or is it all set?

I’d appreciate anyone who can shed light on this.

Admitted, but don’t understand payments?

My sibling got into UAEU (undergraduate), but there was no mention of a scholarship. We were expecting this as everyone went through the same thing. But now we’re confused about what we are expected to pay exactly until we get to know the scholarship?

1- What do we have to pay this very moment. I’m trying to navigate their website but it is very confusing. It provides to detailed plan on payments of registration fees, tuition fees, seat holding fees? How much? And when is the deadline?

2- Do you have to pay tuition by the first weeks, BEFORE knowing your scholarship? What if they give you a full ride, do they pay you back what you paid? I don’t understand how we are expected to pay without knowing your scholarship.

What do you think about KU students/Alumni?

I’m KU alumni and I was curious what the average person in the UAE thinks of the university, the students who attend it, and graduates (particularly the expat population though I’d love to hear both perspectives). I’m talking about you, your parents, friends, etc. I know that universities are not really embedded into UAE zeitgeist as most of us expats study university elsewhere as opposed to Americans for example, who 97% of the time study in their country.

But I’m really curious. Do you think the students are smart? Rich? Nerds? Stuck up? Lucky? Unlucky? Resourceful? Is it impressive or the same as attending any other university in the UAE. Do you think we should’ve studied abroad if we managed to get into KU? What about graduates, do employers think of KU grads as more reliable? Hirable?

Do you think the university is good? Would you like to attend it? Would you like if your child got accepted? I know for a fact KU does not have the same reputation as Ivy leagues or top universities in other countries like NUT/NUS or university of Melbourne, that’s not what I’m asking at all.

I know that many of you on this subreddit have had a subpar application period this time around, rightfully so. I promise it was better in the past. I understand it’s imperative that it has soured your opinion of the university, but I’m asking what you thought before that.

I would appreciate both local and non local perspectives. Thank you!

I’m doing a PhD for the money

Yeah I might be one of the first people to say this. But let me explain.

Edit: Since many of you had a lot of problems with all the context I gave. Here is a very quick summary.

I make the equivalent of $71,000 USD in my PhD and it’s the best financial decision for me in this horrible market.

I hope no one has further questions since context is word vomit or AI.
