Gravplaga - Veneration of Chaos, released 8/7/26

Mahpiya Luta - Wowalitake, released 8/7/26

Umbria - Descenso Al Nucleo Oividado, released 1/20/26

All three will probably be in my 2026 list(s).

I have the first two from Mahpiya Luta, and have really enjoyed them. The current one is probably my favorite of the three. Still spending time with it. Edit: So I guess it isn’t exactly a discovery

Completely missed Umbria’s release in January. Reminds me a little of Stormkeep, with this one from Umbria being rawer and grittier.

Gravplaga is just f’ing brutal. Knocks me down hard in a great way.

I know it’s early, but curious to see what you all may consider the best BM so far for 2026.

Not sure if anyone is going to top Panopticon for me

Four of these are from 90s Norwegian bands. Wasn’t intentional. Another four are from USBM bands. Also, not intentional

Still have Hulder, Wormwood, Fen, Sigh, Sworn, Archgoat, Arckanum, and others to go. I’m sure I’m probably missing some.

I like it, and think it will be grower. Will spend plenty of time with it

Some of the riffs can get a bit long, but doesn’t really bother me

Another one of my favorite BM bands, Enslaved seems to be an underrated band, with an underrated discography.

Just went through their discography, which I always enjoy.
