A few John Blanche original painted models.

One of the great things about working in the (non-GW but adjacent) wargames industry in the Lead Belt is that you get to see some really cool stuff. In this case it was a bunch of minis painted by John Blanche (some of which were in the Ratspike book), so I took a few photos and thought you might like to see 'em.

Looking at them, they're mostly old Ral Partha sculpts, albeit largely heavily converted, so these probably date to the early 1980s at a guess. The quality of the paintjobs is just stunning.

Speaking of Godflesh…

Anyone at either of these? A couple from my flyer/ticket collection of gigs I went to. The Napalm Death/Carcass/Godflesh/Entombed gig was 1990 and fucking crushed.

‘23 Speed Twin 900 tyre recs?

Looking to upgrade the rubber on my new bike. It’s currently got Pirelli Phantom Sportscomp tyres on it which I’m assuming are factory fit, and tbh they don’t feel that grounded and a bit squirrelly at times.

It’s used for both leisure rides and commuting, so looking for something with a bit more feel to it, but not full on race rubber so they’ll last a fair while. Anyone got one and have any thoughts?

Ok, I’ve been biking for over 30 years but for the last decade or so I’ve solely been restoring and riding old shit, so I’m out of the loop on anything that doesn’t have a carburettor or wasn’t manufactured when the Soviet Union was still a thing...

Basically I’m going to need to start commuting again. It’s only a few days a week and 30 mins away in the car, but a bike would be quicker and easier as the parking situation is shit there.

So, I’m looking for a fairly new, used and sub £5k commuter bike, naked as I hate fairings, vaguely retro but reliable. Ideally I’d go for a Ducati Monster as it’s one of the few modern bikes I’ve always wanted, but y’know, I did say reliable.

I was looking at the Triumph 400s, but no idea what they’re like for reliability now as my Triumphs were all made by Coventry communists in the 1970s.

Any recommendations?
