What WiFi speeds do 2 people WFH need?
Apologies if this sounds a stupid question, this is my first time renting. Me and my friend are moving into an apartment where we will both be working from home (calls, excel spreadsheets, some AI use), with average internet use outside of work (gaming, HD/4K video streaming, social media, browsing, etc.). I’m currently shopping around for broadband packages, what speeds would people recommend in our situation?
What are people’s thoughts on Springwell Gardens?
I am looking to move to Leeds for work and some of the one-bed flats at Springwell Gardens have caught my eye for their modern interiors at my price range for the city centre. I have arranged a viewing for next week but I wanted to ask Reddit to gauge people’s opinions on the building.
My main concerns are around the small floor space these flats have, especially since I will need to work from home and require a desk setup. Can anyone in my situation provide some insight? Thanks!
What is the Sheffield - Leeds commute like?
Hi everyone! I am looking to start a new job in Leeds city centre and have been looking for properties in the Leeds area. However, I am finding that rentals in Leeds are a little expensive and I am exploring other options. I have been considering Sheffield since rentals look more reasonable, with a bonus being that my partner is from Sheffield so I can move closer to her.
One thing that does concern me slightly is the commute, does anyone in this thread commute to Leeds for work? For context, my job is also partly remote so I only need to be in the office 3x per week.
Realistic rent budget on £28k per year
Hi everyone, I am planning a move to a city in the north to take up a job opportunity starting at £28k per year (although subject to potential increase before starting), with yearly increases in salary. It’s my first time renting and I’m struggling to get a grasp of what budget I should be looking for.
For context: I don’t drive and would prefer to live in walkable distance to my workplace (city centre). It seems to be a common theme in this subreddit to suggest house shares, but I would preferably avoid this scenario since I am moving from Scotland and prefer the idea of having my own security and privacy while I settle in. I am also a good saver, so I don’t mind cutting back on guilt-free spending in order to increase my standard of living space.
Is Wakefield a bad place to live?
So I’m currently shopping around for flats in Leeds and the surrounding areas, and one area that continues to pop up as one of the more affordable places to live is Wakefield. Some of the flats I have viewed are good quality yet fall at a fraction of the price compared to other areas around the city, including similar sized towns/commuter areas. Excuse me if I’m wrong but does this mean Wakefield has higher crime rates/is a generally poorer place to live? I’m not from the area so I would prefer to have a good idea of where I’d be moving to. Thank you for any help provided!
Suit or no suit for graduation?
My graduation is on Wednesday and I’m struggling to decide on two different outfit options.
White dress shirt with tie and black suit trousers
3-piece navy suit
I’m slightly favouring the suit option since I think most other guys will be wearing them, but it’s supposed to be a hot day and I was thinking if it’s worth it considering the gown will be covering the outfit for most of the day.
What would people suggest in this situation?
