California CDL downgraded — 90-day paper license expired, still haven’t received my new card

Hi everyone,

My CDL was downgraded under the new rules, and the DMV gave me a 90-day paper license while I waited for my new physical license card. The 90 days have now expired, but I still haven’t received my new card.

Has anyone else been in the same situation? What happens when the temporary/paper license expires before the new card arrives?

If you’ve gone through this recently, I’d really appreciate hearing what you did and how long it took to receive your new card. Thanks

Outland Francophone Mobility Work Permit – Processing Time

Hi everyone! 👋

I’m looking for people who have applied for a Francophone Mobility Work Permit (C16) from outside Canada, especially those working in the food/restaurant sector.
I’d really appreciate it if you could share:

When did you apply?

Which country did you apply from?

What was your job/occupation

If you received a decision, how long did it actually take from submission to approval?

📩 Did IRCC request any additional documents or a medical exam?

I’m particularly interested in hearing from outland applicants in the food sector, but experiences from other sectors/countries would also be really helpful.
Thank you! 🙏 It would be great to compare timelines and get an idea of what others are currently experiencing.

Regaining Focus

Hi guys,

Last month, I took my French exam and got the scores I needed for my work permit extension. I haven’t submitted my application yet, and I’m currently in India.

I’m trying to continue studying so I can reach CLB 7, but I’m feeling completely lost. The motivation and commitment I had before are just gone. Every time I sit down to study, I can’t focus, and I end up wasting time instead of making progress.

Has anyone else gone through this after reaching an initial goal? How did you get yourself back on track? I’d really appreciate any advice or study tips.

IMM1295 Form

Francophone Mobility Work Permit – English & French language question on IMM 1295
Hi everyone,
I’m applying for a Francophone Mobility Work Permit, and I have a question about the language section on the IMM 1295 form.
My lawyer initially selected english only for the question asking whether I am able to communicate in English and/or French.

I noticed this and suggested changing it to both English and French, since its franchophones work permit however, my french is okay but not very higher level. My reasoning was that it’s better to answer both as its a Francophone work permit.

Would selecting both English and French should ne good or I should just stick to English! For the c section I wrote english where they ask in which language you are at most ease. I’d appreciate any advice from anyone who has gone through this process. Thanks!

Calling directly on canadian number

Hi everyone,
I need some advice.
I want to make regular calls from India to Canada without using WhatsApp, FaceTime, or any internet-based apps. I’m looking for a way to make direct calls to Canadian phone numbers.

What is the cheapest and most reliable option?
Is there any app that works over the regular mobile network instead of Wi-Fi/data?

Are there any international calling plans from Indian carriers that are worth it?

What do you personally use to call Canada from India?
I’d appreciate any suggestions and your experiences. Thanks!

Got the required clb 5

Just wanted to share my TCF Canada experience for anyone stressing about the exam.
I took the TCF mainly to extend my work permit, and thankfully I got the scores I needed:

Overall, the exam was okay. I felt some pressure before the speaking section, and honestly, I thought I had messed it up. During the speaking test, I accidentally used 2–3 English words, and in Task 3 I didn’t fully understand what the examiner was looking for. I just kept talking and did my best to answer.

The examiner asked me some follow-up questions in Task 3, and I was able to answer those correctly. After the exam, I was really worried because I only needed 6/20 in speaking and wasn’t sure I had done enough.

In the end, I got exactly the score I needed and achieved my goal. So if you come out of the exam feeling like you made mistakes, don’t panic. A few mistakes don’t automatically mean you failed. Keep speaking, stay confident, and do your best.
Good luck to everyone preparing for the TCF!
