Old doctor is retiring and the new one wants me to come EVERY MONTH

I live in North Georgia, and I have been taking a low dose lorazepam (1 mg) since March 2025, only at night, for severe bladder pain related to oxalates and sulfur metabolism issues. My physician of 9 years, who prescribed liquid lorazepam several months ago so I could start to taper down, is retiring. My doctor always tried to keep things sane and affordable. I saw her every three months, and the bottle of liquid lorazepam lasts me 2 months, but she would always prescribe an additional refill so I didn't run out. Has been working beautifully. The doctor that is taking over the practice is already insisting I come EVERY MONTH or no refills. Which is unnecessary and ridiculous, and isn't about anything except getting more money out of patients. I am self pay, and cannot afford 12 doctor visits per year. I need to find a reasonably priced doctor in the Forsyth County, Dawson County, or Pickens County area who would help me continue my tapering process. A couple of doctors I have called already say they won't even prescribe lorazepam. One of which, I know for a fact, gave my cousin a "just in case" Xanax prescription. I guess prescribing that for my cousin's occasional sleeplessness is fine. But helping a person taper off a med they use for severe pain is out. It is so frustrating trying to do this in a responsible, affordable way and getting stymied by doctors! Any suggestions about finding a doctor are welcomed! TIA!

Need a new physician

My current doctor, located in Tate, GA is retiring. She has been helping me manage a taper off of a very low dose lorazepam (I only took 1 mg per day in the first place), and I am using liquid lorazepam to taper off it. Which is working well. I use this medication for bladder pain related to some metabolic issues I have been having for some time. The bladder medications I tried shot my blood pressure up to nearly stroke level, and I wound up in the E.R. twice. I saw my doctor every three months to discuss taper progress and get refills. The physician taking over her practice is already insisting I come EVERY month or he won't prescribe a refill. I cannot afford to go every single month, and he will not budge. I don't have insurance, so I am self pay. I really need a new physician here in Cumming that can help me complete my tapering process.

I have to do this slowly to minimize side effects of going off the medication and honestly, it's been such a hassle I'm sorry I ever agreed to use it to begin with. If anyone has suggestions for a good, reasonably priced doctor in Cumming who can help with this, I would be most grateful.

Can I get mildew smell out of this?

A close friend's son made this out of clay when he was in elementary school. I had it in a storage unit that developed a leak in the roof, and now this piece has a mildew smell. Is it possible to get it out without ruining the piece?

Need to make liquid lorazepam oral solution

I am currently using liquid lorazepam oral concentrate to taper down from a 1 mg. dose. I use .92 mg dose currently (.42 ml) for bladder pain and frequent urination. The bladder medications I tried jacked up my blood pressure to stroke level, so I have been using lorazepam for about 15 months, only at night. If I have pain during the day, well, those are the breaks. My pharmacy notified me this morning, as I'm about to run out, that there is a supply problem (possibly affecting the southeastern United States) and they don't know when they can get it in. Other pharmacies I've called say pretty much the same. Is there a way I could use the pills to make a solution? A way that doesn't require lab equipment or a degree in chemistry? Apparently all liquid benzodiazapines are in short supply, so I can't reliably switch to a different one and don't really want to. My doctor's office is working on it, but I have a feeling the only solution they will arrive at is to use the pills. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Filing a claim in Magistrate Court

I have had a guy install a new faucet in my garden tub and he put a sink faucet in rather than a tub faucet, and will not refund my money or come back and put in the correct faucet. I need to file a claim against him in Magistrate Court. He did the work in Forsyth County, but actually lives in Union County. I undersyand I have the option of filing in either county. Which County would be best for me to file the claim in? Are there potential issues if I file the claim in Forsyth County rather than Union County or vice versa?

How can I find out if someone is a licensed builder in Georgia?

My aunt and I hired a guy to replace some windows in her manufactured home. He did eventually finish the job (took over 3 months and he said it would take 5 days and that he "only works one job at a time". He did about 5 or 6 days of actual work.) When he first cane to look at the windows, I asked out of curiosity if he was a licensed contractor. He said he was. Down the road when I pressed him further he said he was not a licensed contractor but a licensed builder. His behavior is very sketchy (eventually I figured out he smokes a lot of weed, even on the job). My aunt was thinking of having him do some work that could structurally affect her home, and I don't want her to do that. How can I check in the state of Georgia and see if he's even a licensed builder? He says he builds houses, but he SAYS a lot of things that clearly aren't true. Can a builder or carpenter build houses without going through a contractor? If anyone can clarify this for me, I would really appreciate it.

Need reputable plumber to install new garden tub faucet in manufactured home

I hired a guy who has done work on our manufactured home before to install a new faucet in my garden tub. I have to take Epsom salt baths every day to get sulfate as part of a health protocol because my sulfur metabolism is impaired. The faucet my aunt purchased was faulty and wouldn't work, kept leaking, so this guy goes to Home Depot and gets another faucet and installs it and says it "might have a slightly slower flow" than my old faucet. After he left (and promptly cashed my check) I discovered he had installed a KITCHEN SINK FAUCET in my garden tub. By the time I run an inch of water it's already getting cold! I am beyond P.O.'d at the guy for pulling a fast one like this was in any way acceptable. I texted him Tuesday afternoon after he left. No response..I called him Wednesday morning and he said he would "order a different faucet". I explained again how critical these Epsom salt baths are for me, and asked him to go to Home Depot or Lowe's or a plumbing supply store and buy a deck mount tub faucet and come down here and replace it. He said he would but it's now Thursday and no word. I texted him again this morning with the same request. At this point I'm ready to hire a plumber and try to recoup my losses in small claims court. Any recommendations for a plumber that knows what they're doing and will do work in a manufactured home?

New Windows installed in Manufactured Home have screens that don't fit snugly and let in bug

I live with my elderly aunt in her manufactured home, and the windows were getting in bad shape as the place got older. She and I split the cost of having new windows installed. They are PVC windows that and the lower half slides up. These are more like house windows than mobile home windows, which is great. But when the guy we hired put in the screens - it became obvious that the screens are crap. The clip into the the sides of the windows frame with cheap plastic clips which in no way makes them snug enough against the frame to keep out bugs. And you can't secured them at the top or bottom at all. We live in the south, and now small insects come in every time I open the windows to get fresh air. The guy who put in the windows was like "Oh, well. These are the screens that go with the windows." Well they were apparently designed by an 8 year old. What can I do about these screens? I am so ticked off about this after all the money we spent!!! Should I contact the window manufacturer or the company he ordered the screens from? Are there other screens that can be installed in these type windows? PlyGem is the brand, but the paperwork doesn't say anything about the screens. The windows themselves are fine, but I cannot believe anyone thinks these screens are okay and will do their job.
