Stories 2 Plot Point I just Realized

I'm going to add a spoiler to this, just because I realize that people may have not played MHS2 yet.

Anyway, following a data wipe where I lost my 60 hour save file, I started over and was getting back into it. But, then one plot point gets brought up and then immediately dropped, and I find it odd, because it undermines the Hunter's entire part of the story.

Ignoring that these Hunters are a part of a cult and probably wouldn't listen to reason anyway. How they learned that a specific egg was going to be where it was anyway is still baffling.

"Let's harass a bunch of Rathian nests until we find a random Rathalos Egg, that may or may not exist yet."

But, anyway, the plot point I am speaking off is how young Ratha is, like newly hatched young.

Constantly through the story, many people tell you that the Razewing Rathalos alone is the cause of the red lights, the pits, and the monsters going berserk. Okay, understandable, as most people who know the story of the light only have half of the actual story, like the Rutoh mural is literally missing the lower half of it.

However, these people keep saying that the Razewing is the cause of the calamity, but how exactly? These lights have been happening for probably 50 or more years and Ratha only hatched a month ago.

The last Razewing appeared multiple centuries ago, and was slain, and the lights are still occurring. And yet, despite everyone knowing this, the Rutoh Elder and everyone else who are after Ratha for being a Razewing, looks at this newborn, who was probably only lain like a few weeks before the story and go:

"Ah yes, this egg is the cause for everything wrong that has been happening since Red was a kid."

Wait a minute...

And Ena even fucking questions this! She asks a Hunter how Ratha, a Rathalos that hadn't existed before now, could even remotely be the cause of the Rage Rays.

AND SHE IS IGNORED!

Like no one who hears that stops to think, wait a minute, that is weird.

And this isn't even a situation where, oh the lights are getting worse, that means the Razewing has returned. No, they are saying that this Monster THAT DIDN'T EXIST YET, is somehow responsible for everything that has been happening for literal decades.

What the fuck Rutoh Elder, and you Hunters? It's a baby wyvern, fucking think for a second.

Any Way I Can Improve These Sets?

I don't care about meta, this is just for more general use.

Because of that I just want to know how I can improve my main team, and all of my Mercedes Variants.

Finally! My All Mercedes Team!

If they add Summer Mercedes at some point, I will cry.

I Think I Figured Out A Bug

So, was playing through Stories 2, doing stupid things and seeing what I can get away with. As of right now, I just beat the Mizutsune boss fight.

And, like with all boss monsters, I wanted to make his armor and grab an egg. However, I was made aware, that outside of a quest, there is no overworld spawn for Mizutsune before post-game.

This got me thinking on why that is, and while I was flying around, I noticed something.

There are two Lagiacrus.

See, as you all may know, following the story quest to fight Lagi, they start to spawn in the same area, however it is only the one.

And yet, after the chapter boss, two Lagiacrus spawn, and this confused me, until I realized what probably happened.

That second Lagi wasn't supposed to spawn, it was instead supposed to be a Mizutsune. However, whenever the developers were setting flags and the like for monster spawns, they might have accidentally set the flag for Lagiacrus twice, instead of one for both.

If that is the case, it would make sense why Mizu doesn't have any overworld spawns.

The sad thing is, given how old the game is, I don't think Capcom would be bothered to fix it.

Quick Finish Question

Do I need to have previously defeated a monster before I can Quick Finish it? Or, do I just need to encounter it at a certain level regardless of if it's the first encounter or not?

Like, I just found Barioth, I am Level 35, I think I should be able to perform the Quick Finish, as I doubt it is in the same tier as Green Nargacuga, but it isn't letting me.

Something Stupid I JUST Realized

Addendum: To be clear, the Stupid in the title of this post is in reference to myself for not noticing this, and not Monster Hunter. That was probably obvious, but I just felt the need to clarify, as I can't edit titles.

So, something that has slightly irked me about the Monster Hunter universe for the longest while, is the fact that they refer to the monsters as 'Monsters'. Now, I understand that it's the name of the series, of course they'd call the creatures you hunt monsters, but that is what bothers me.

In-Universe, they aren't monsters, they're animals. Granted, incredibly dangerous animals, but they are still the fauna of the Monster Hunter world. And for years, it's bothered me why they would refer to them as such. Sure, they can be monstrous, as with Elder Dragons, but they are still creatures of that world.

Like, Palamutes and Felynes are still referred to as monsters, and they're sentient.

Then I remembered, no one in Monster Hunter speaks any of our languages. What we are reading and hearing are effectively dubs of the Wyverian language.

This then led to the thought, what if the word for animal/creature in Wyverian is similar to our world's words for 'Monster', and as a translation of this language, that is why everything is referred to as Monsters.

Now, that may be stupid, but if that is the case that will be a fun way of thinking about it.

Seltas Question

Is there any location is Stories 2 where I can fight either the Seltas, or the Seltas Queen by themselves? Like either a Queen who never calls a Seltas, or just a Seltas alone.

There is a Subquest for a named Seltas Queen, but she won't probably give the same EXP as a base Seltas Queen. And yes, that is important for me at the moment.

Mechanics Question

So, was looking up information on some things in Stories 2, and I keep seeing things say that you can check wild monster levels in combat? Is that a thing in 2? If it is, it would be a help to something I am doing, and would love to know how to look at that information.

She's So Cute!

And, knowing this series, something horrible will happen, or she'll become an ally, I am hoping for the latter.

Tower Of Recollection Info Table

Noticed that there isn't really information of what's in the Tower of Recollection, so I decided to collect data for you.

The 50th floor EXP value might be off slightly, so do note that.

Ratha Gene Set Question [MHST1]

So, I am trying to create a Gene Set for Ratha so I can do some silly things I have planned, and so far this is the loadout I want.

  • Infernal Breath
  • Fire Up L
  • Fire Scale
  • All-Res L
  • Savage Fireball
  • Anti-Venom
  • Anti-Paralysis
  • Salt In The Wound
  • Anti-Burn

Now, I understand that having three Anti Status skills may be a tad too much, but throughout the game I kind of wanted those skills, because those statuses hit at the most annoying times, And, Anti-Burn is so I can traverse lava, for whenever the need arises.

Are there any Genes I should be on the lookout for? I kind of am guessing an Attack L, but I'd have to figure out where to squeeze it in.

Quick Question

In Stories 1, f you use the High-rank version on the item drop charm, and go through the Tower of Illusion to the Great Barrel Felyne. Can it drop Training Charm +, or will it only ever drop the basic Training Charm?

So, It Has 10,000?

I fought a Silver Rathalos in Stories 1, through the Special Subquest, and was keeping track of its health while I did, and it ended up with 2,000 more health than what Kiranico has recorded for any S.Rathalos encounter.

Are their numbers wrong, or was that S.Rathalos boosted?

Barrel Felyne Question

So, wanted to do something stupid and level up a bit to deal with a Pink Rathian quest you get. The best way I was told to accomplish this was to go after Barrel Felynes.

Thus, after some digging, I have been fast traveling between the Blossom Row and the Monsonne Hinterlands.

Blossom Row because that's where I first encountered the B.Felynes, and the Monsonne Hinterlands as a lot of people say that's a decent spawn point where I am at in the story.

I just wanted to know, are B.Felyne spawns only attached to a percent chance, or is there some other factor that I am not aware of. I may just be being a bit impatient, but after an hour of this and not one spawn, I just want to make sure I'm not missing anything.

Something Kind Of Stupid I Noticed In Stories 1

So, recently I picked up the remaster for Stories 1, honestly I forgot it even came out, but that's just me being stupid. I loved it on the 3DS, so decided to play it again.

Anyway, as I am still early on in the game, Cheval says something that bothered me because of the main character. Now, understandably, he lost his mother and is lashing out to everyone, but when Lilia tries talking him down from hating monsters, that his mother wouldn't have wanted that.

He does the typical, "You wouldn't understand!" thing.

Which, when looking at the main character, or as I see it, is worse off than he is?

Like, I am not aware of any information on this topic, but your player seems to be an orphan. Again, there is no story thing that I am aware of that goes for, or against this, but it seems plausible.

And, if that is true, Sophie and Lute either just don't have parents, or in a similar fashion to Cheval, lost them. So, Cheval, who's anger is still understandable, is looking at another orphan and going:

"Your trauma from your dead parents isn't as important as mine!"

That kind of makes me want to tell him to shut up every time he opens his mouth. Like personal head canon for the CC's history aside, monsters probably were the reason the player is an orphan as well.

And yet, they didn't go on a world ending temper tantrum because of it.

But, I don't know. I just woke up, and everything is still fuzzy, so I might just be spouting bullshit.

Being Labeled As A Maverick Sucks

So, something I have just realized after a multitude of years, is how bullshit a Reploid being labeled as a Maverick in the X Series is.

Now, do not get me wrong, I fully understand that if a Reploid, Mutos or otherwise, "goes against humanity", they are labeled as a Maverick. And in most cases are put down because they are a danger to themselves and others. Whether through programming errors, or outside sources such as the Sigma and Zero Viruses, that makes sense.

However, watching a playthrough of X4 again, and I realized, any perceived slight against a human, or humans, and a Reploid is now considered a Maverick.

Like, what I can gather, Repliforce were at the crash site of Sky Lagoon investigating the crash. Yet, as soon as the Maverick Hunters arrive on the scene, and Repliforce rightfully refuses to disarm as they are in an active combat zone, they are suddenly deemed Mavericks.

Yes, this was all set up by Sigma and what not, but like think about that. If a Reploid military unit cannot go into an area, where they possibly would be required for clean up and rescue, without being immediately written off, what chance to civilian Reploids have?

Because of how this is written, at any point, if a Reploid does anything that goes against a human's words, they are a Maverick.

To give an admittedly ridiculous scenario; say there is a human who really hates Reploids for whatever reason. And this person just so happens to be a coworker of a Reploid, and this Reploid really loves this job. However, the human sees them being there as a hinderance to them getting ahead in the career, and thus diminishing their standard of living.

In their own words.

So, this person then has an idea to rid themselves of the Reploid, by calling the Maverick Hunters and telling them that this Reploid has gone Maverick. If the Hunters do show up, this Reploid would have to be forced to go with them.

But, as far as I am aware, there are no lawyers for this kind of thing. Like, if you are wrongfully labeled a Maverick by a human, you are going to be put down, because that's the only option. And, because Mavericks, like Doppler, can pretend to be normal, there is no way to know if you aren't one. So, you have to be put down anyway to keep the humans safe.

Like, how many humans sent these also sentient beings to their deaths because they got into an argument and got butthurt over it?

So, I wanted to grind all of the available Illegal Card Data before I got to Alohaha, and currently I am working on the last cards of ID Lv.2 with the lists from the RockmanExE Zone. The Rocket CC viruses are at base ID Lv.2, so I am grinding in that dungeon.

But, then Queen Ophiuca drops, which cannot drop from ID Lv.2. And, it's not like I'm in a higher tier, all of my battles are ending with Noise, so my base value shouldn't be increasing at all.

What just happened?
