Tried to get back to local gaming but it just wasn't meant to be.

Got a pretty good price on a new rig (RT 9070 XT + R7 7800X3D + 32gb ram + 2tb ssd). Bought it, waited for a week for it to arrive, unpacked it and got all the things setup. It was buttery smooth for few days but then everything started going to shit. Freezes, booting issues, network adapter going on/off and about a week in I had enough assuming it was a motherboard issue and decided to return it as it was still inside the return policy period.

Now hoping the return goes well I'll be getting my money back in few weeks to a month but coming back to my old rig with GFN I just don't feel motivated to risk it again (now with ~20% higher prices) just for the ability to play locally.

Just saying that with hardware prices going up and all the unlucky shit related to it settling for GFN doesn't seem like such a bad thing after all. GFN does have it's kinks but if the rig is acting up you just load another one and there usually isn't any rig related issues in the first place.

After having an absolutely shitty week loading a game up on GFN hassle free was just the thing. Don't know why I'm posting this rant/story but I guess I just wanted to say thank you GFN.

Smilegate is taking over the western version of Lost Ark and promises to strive for content catch-up/parity. Take notes NC America!

Aion 2 just got competition with Smilegate entering the global platform in 2027.

https://store.onstove.com/en/newadventure

Hopefully NC America takes notes and doesn't leave our version of Aion 2 far behind compared to KR/TW.

With launch the gap will be 4 seasons/chapters. I sincerely hope they'll work towards similar catch-up/parity as they are aiming for with Lost Ark so this won't be another game with entirely shattered global community.

Competition is good and these changes in KR often ripple throughout the industry. Good time to be a fan of KR MMOs in the west \o/

Founders not having a subscription, bp or premium currency is a scheme.

The founders are trash so they can "listen to the community" and include subs in them.

Easy W.

Aion 2 marketing once again shows that these western "lead devs" handling the localization are stuck in the past.

Aion 2 was launched about a year ago. Embrace it and show how it has evolved instead of trying to spin shit we already know is false.

Aion 2 is not a new game and it will never be a new game.

The western playerbase knows everything that is and has been going on with TW/KR and even the players coming in blind will get slammed by that info once the streamers take up on it.

Western version WILL NOT be a separate entity and trying to jerk up shit that's exposed with a single search just won't hold up in 2026. We have access to all the information and the TW version is even completely playable from the rest of the world.

We know what is going on and if NCSoft wants to hold it's small but reliable playerbase in the west, do treat it with a sliver of respect. MMORPG gamers are not the brightest bunch but the amount of sweatiness and dedication is unmatched. They will build a community just as well as they will burn it.

For example try for once coming out with we know the game is P2W but this is how we have mitigated P2W issues and how we will continue to mitigate them in the future.

(KR/TW has changed A LOT from day 1)

Lost Ark is adding matchmaking ("LFR") raids and starts to cater towards casual players

No surprise after the games dwindling numbers in every region but they are finally adding "LFR" style difficulty to raids and introducing new tighter cycle in releasing solo/matchmaking difficulty for new raids. Now instead of 6+ months new raids are getting solo/LFR treatment in roughly 6 weeks.

Game is still P2W, published by AGS (which is shutting down) and toxic beyond imagination. However if you want to check out all the content and dip your toes into LFR it's possible when the latest KR update arrives to NA/EU/RU (presumably July-August).

The LFR difficulty doesn't require support and you can queue up with any class and spec. The difficulty has infinite revives and scaling damage buff. All raids up to MM (Serca first MM raid) have solo mode.

Game has it's fair share of issues but the gameplay is still one of the best ones out there and clearing the gatekeeping issue for entry level raiding significantly improves the game.

NCSoft just confirmed GW3 is going to be small-scale while Aion 2 is their larger scale MMORPG.

https://www.pcgamer.com/games/mmo/aion-2-producer-says-its-good-to-have-friendly-competition-with-guild-wars-3-during-this-period-where-mmos-are-struggling/

"NCSoft chief business officer Seung-Uk Baek reckons GW3 and A2 are different enough to find their own niches. Aion 2 focuses more on massive numbers of players, like RvR. The more users, the more fun. Whereas Guild Wars 3 is more about segments of small groups playing that makes the gameplay more fun. That's all I can say at the moment."

This is good news for Aion 2 in the west since it's now clear GW3 isn't going to be for the traditional MMORPG itch but more of an action game with emphasis on small-scale instanced content.

Farming W's instead of DD's. !!! MASSIVE LOOT CHANGES !!!

=> Patterns now give drops at flat 20% rate and the pattern is descendant based i.e. Dia's pattern will drop Dia's blueprints with equal 20% chance for each blueprint. You open pattern from INVENTORY and not through reactor cracking.

=> There's a 100% pity system where you can salvage other blueprints of the same descendant/weapon to CHOOSE the missing one. (Future update Shape Stabs will improve the rate of filling the shaping count.)

=> Generators now drop with same element and type the current descendant uses which means 100% chance for fitting reactors to drop.

=> "Legacy" descendants and weapons are crafted from generic "shards" instead of pattern drops.

This is absolutely insane. The game entered a whole new era. \o/
