Just curious if anyone knows anyone who was able to get disability from their diagnosed if it’s a severe case ?

This post is incredibly embarrassing for me to write but I feel the need to because I need to finally do something about it so I can improve my life.

I’ve been suffering from tooth decay for many many years. Probably 15 years at least. Just been so embarrassed to go to the dentist so I just never did.

As the years went on it got worse and worse. One of my front teeth started turning black and years later that tooth broke off. I have other teeth that have major black decay on it and I lost another tooth.

I know this is disgusting and I’m deeply ashamed and grossed out by myself and how I didn’t have the guts to go get my teeth fixed when I should have which was when I had a good job and insurance where I could have afforded to get everything fixed.

Now I’m unemployed and broke. At my old job people would laugh behind my back at my teeth and I just cannot start another job showing up with 2 top teeth missing and at least 4 others badly decaying.

But I have no money to fix it. I don’t know what to do. I only have myself to blame for this situation. I just wish I had any idea how I can fix this. (I have New York Medicaid) which of course will pay for nothing. I feel and have felt for years totally hopeless about this.

Never posted on here but I live in nyc and I’m on cash assistance which includes my snap food stamps benefits, a small cash sum every 2 weeks, and Medicaid insurance.

Been on in a few years, always recertify on time and make sure every thing is good to go.

I had to recertify in may of this year which I did. Did every thing that was required by me like always. Received a letter that it was completed and every thing was good or so I thought.

Received my food stamps in June. Then this month I did not receive them. I received my cash assistance but not my food stamps. I received no notice that they were taking my stamps away from me.

This must have something to do with the renewed work program enforcements cuz I have been receiving addition $35 payments once every 10 days or 3 times so far for “travel cost for work assignment”

Now my case says that I am exempted for having to participate in having to do the work assignment thing. My cases all still say active: snap, cash assistance, and Medicaid all say active.

I have been calling HRA all week. I call as soon as they open at 8:30am and I have not been able to get anyone on the phone. I’ve been on hold for hours and hours every single day and no one picks up. I got thru to snap but they told me that since i get my snap thru cash assistance I had to speak to them so I’ve been trying to get thru to them and no one is picking up the phone.

This whole this is ridiculous. I know my best move needs to be to just go in person to my local office but to be honest I just don’t fucking feel like it.

Any one have any suggestions ? Thanks guys !

So when I started using my CPAP machine in late March the company who provided it to me thru my insurance, Apria, told me that I have to record a minimum of 4 hours of mask data for 21 out of the 30 or 31 days of the month or they will take the machine away from me.

It’s July now and cuz I’m still adjusting i haven’t come close to reaching those standards and yet I haven’t heard anything about them taking it from me.

Have you guys heard of such guidelines before ? Should I be worried ? Or is it just a bluff by the company to scare you into wearing it a lot ?

I was diagnosed with severe OSA in March. 55 episodes an hour.

Been using a CPAP for a few months now and it’s going as bad as possible.

I am taking this so seriously cuz I know if I can wear this like I need to my life will likely turn completely around and I’m in a bad place in my life where a lot of things desperately need to turn around.

But anyway I just have a lot of trouble falling asleep with it on. I’m someone who it takes me hours to fall asleep regularly and now with the mask it of course makes it even harder.

I’m also someone who is not exactly a person of routine or structure. I’m just not wired that way. So I can’t ever be like ok it’s time to go to sleep that’s it. I’m just not capable of that and I do try but it’s just not me. So for a number of reasons I am having such difficulty with this. It’s so frustrating cuz I know if I could figure this out I could feel like a different person. I feel pretty hopeless at the idea that I’ll ever be able to wear it while I’m sleeping.

Been on my cpac for maybe 5 weeks now after getting diagnosed in March. It’s definitely been a work in progress getting used to sleeping with it on.

One of my biggest issues is i immediately get a running nose when I put it on. I called the companies hotline and they were like you need heated tubing and so they sent that and the problem still has been persisting.

I used the humidifier. I think I just have a highly sensitive nose. What I notice is the few times I’ve been able to sleep with it on I don’t wake up with the running nose but when I initially put it on my nose starts running immediately and continues and continues.

Any advice guys ? Thanks !
