Orbital Carrier

A concept I am playing around with for my military cassette futurism setting. Planetary operations are conducted from carriers that enter the atmosphere just enough to allow aircraft to launch from it. In this world, there is dedicated space craft and dedicated aircraft.

What kind of propulsion would a carrier need to maintain its orbit? Would it need constant thrust to keep it airborne? Should I use jet propulsion or big ass helicopter blades? Is there a point in the atmosphere that gravity isn’t that big of an issue?

Venus Wars Terraforming

I’m looking for a terraforming method for my Sci-fi setting. In the old anime Venus Wars, an ice comet crashes on Venus in a freak occurrence and it essentially terraforms the planet in a short amount of time.

My idea is that my interstellar powers are able to terraform planets the same way but with restrictions: the planetoid and the celestial object to be hurled at the planet must both meet certain conditions, and it still takes a few decades of constant monitoring and atmospheric adjustments made by orbital platforms

What are some of your terraforming methods? I’m open to critiques and discussion.

EMPs

How would space militaries account for EMPs from nuclear detonations in orbit? For example, if one power is in the process of landing a force on a planet, they get ambushed by an enemy fleet that launches nukes, wouldn’t the detonations cause EMP bursts in the atmosphere, shutting down the ground forces’ tech? What about intentional EMP weapons? Do they wrap everything in a faraday bag lol

Eldar Box Buys

I’m in the planning stages of an Eldar Army. If I were to buy the three boxes out right now (Craftworld combat patrol, Corsair CP, and the Corsair Battleforce box), what should be my next purchases? I’m looking at running Corsair Coterie as my 2DP detachment. I’ve been looking at using it with the Ranger detachment as well. How would you build the corsairs? Battleline or Voidscarred? Which of the enhancements would you put on which units?

Inspiration for my current Kenshi play through

I got the itch to play Kenshi again last week, and I wanted to share my plans for it. I’m looking for mod recommendations to help out as well.

Main character is a Greenlander named Ukon. I’ll be using the holy sword start. Ukon is a former citizen of the Holy Nation, who shared a near death experience with a tech hunter. The tech hunter, a second empire historian, shared with him what he had learned of Cat-Lon’s empire (Hero in his Head lore theories about Cat-Lon being Okran). Ukon, being young and full of piss and vinegar, began to share this in his home town, denouncing the direction the Holy Phoenix had lead the nation. This put him in the sights of the Inquisition and he was arrested bound for rebirth. His slave caravan was ambushed and he was able to escape. He planned on making his way to the UC by going through bast, not knowing that it was a Warzone. There he salvaged the Nodachi you get at the start, and was seen doing so by a samurai patrol (hence the UC bounty). He made his way to the hub where the playthrough begins:

Ukon’s goals are to topple the Holy Phoenix and lead a return to the early days of the Okranite religion, before all the wacky nonsense it spouts today. He will need a well-trained fighting force to do so. He has made plans for such a force: the Dust Legion. Using Recruitable Prisoners mod and the squad limit 256 mod, Ukon will capture Dust Bandits, Starving Bandits, and Black Dragon Ninjas and turn them into a well-drilled army.

The Dust Legion will be modeled after the Swiss Pike Mercenaries: blocks of citizen militia pikemen(naginatas) with heavier troops armed with two-handed weapons and halberds (polearms, hackers, heavy weapons) supported by ranks of crossbowmen. My head cannon is that large scale battles in Kenshi look more like pike and shot battles of the Sengoku period, even though the game gives you anime brawls. Nevertheless, I think this will look cool once I build it up.

Dust Bandits and Starving Bandits will be Dust Legion Troopers, armed with naginatas and wakizashis. The Dust Bosses will be Sergeants armed with polearms. Any Hivers I recruit will be placed in one of these troop types depending on drone type, and Shek will be kamikaze warriors who will function like the Doppelsoldners used by the Landsknechts (a forlorn hope vanguard). There will also be Dust Legion bowman. A lot actually.

The Black Dragon Ninjas will be samurai. Ukon will be offering all these degenerates and Wastrels a chance at a better life: full bellies, a place to sleep, and eventually a plot of land to call their own. This is the incentive for abandoning their old gangs.

Where will Ukon establish the Dust Legion? We will start in the Hub at the beginning, using it to build up capital and stock up resources for building a base in Shem. Shem is the ideal place for this endeavor: good soil for crops and hemp, plenty of wildlife for leather, and bandits galore for new recruits.

I’m looking for mods to compliment this narrative. I will be using the Vanilla Armours Expanded to outfit my troops: Dust Legion Troopers will be issued a light samurai breastplate, a Naginata, pants, wooden sandals, and some form of headgear ranging from rattan hats to flared helmets. Ukon will not only be gunning for the HN, but will be establishing a nation in Shem: the Shogunate of Shem. As such, he will need to build an economy and gain allies. Economy is easy for Shem: hash, hash, and more hash. Plus the hemp farms will help with fabric needs. Allies will be Flotsam Ninjas, Anti-Slavers, and the Shek Kingdom. With the defeat of the bug master, Ukon will be able to enter into talks with Esata, and possibly forge an alliance through a political marriage to Seta (because ha ha shek Dommy mommy joke). I’ll probably use Holy Marriage mod for that if it allows it. Any mods that affect world states is definitely appreciated. I have used Living World in the past, but I’m open to using something different if there’s a better choice.

I’d love to hear thoughts on this. Critiques are welcome, suggestions are requested.

Traitor Guard Army List

I started on a fun traitor guard themed list for 10th edition, but 11th has lapped my plans. I’m a new CSM player. I’m well aware that this style is not optimal, but I just want a fun list that won’t get tables by turn 3.

My thinking is to use the cultists to screen and act as speed bumps while my vehicles do damage and the guardsmen do the Priority Assets actions

Any criticism or suggestions is much appreciated:
