I'm a somewhat experienced bench jeweller, but I'm still pretty new to using my laser. So this project taught me a lot about drawing with vectors, and about using Lightburn in general.

It took me a half hour to draw a heart, by drawing half a heart and mirroring it, then grouping the images together.

But then, of course, I wasn't able to use that heart as a mask because I didn't draw it all in one line. So I tried again. Eventually, after much practice, I was able to draw a symmetrical heart with LB's tools.

I'm still trying to figure out settings for cutting sheets of silver. So I used the laser to score the outline of the "heart with a handle" and then cut it out by hand, with a jewellers saw.

I used the laser to mark a deep outline, but I cut it out by hand with a jewellers saw. I don't think my laser can cut through 2.5mm thick silver.

I'm not sure if the same holds true for copper based sterling silver, but the laser removed material really quickly. This was 50 passes at 85% power, 1000mm/s speed.

For post processing, I hit it with the wire brush attachment on my rotary tool, focusing on the larger background spots. Then I used silicon polishing points to pre polish the initials. Used liver of sulfur to darken the metal and then buffed it out on a polishing wheel.

Also I forgot to mark the jump ring hole with a laser so I had to drill that by hand.

So, I have my image just about ready to go. I'm engraving this coin with the client's initials, and a circle around it to make cutting it out with the jewellers saw easier. But I want to have a little tag at the top where I can drill a hole and attach a jump ring (as crudely shown in the second image of this post).

Is there a way to do this in Lightburn? Or should I export the project to GIMP, change it there, then export it back to lightburn?

This is in the washroom at my work. I know it's gibberish, but most words seem to be real words. I just can't figure out what is written after "Defender" under the image of the flower. Looks like it says vrunslating?
